Exactly, she took the kids 800 miles away remarried and consistently created parental alienation…which I heavily think included talking bad about their father in front of them with her new spouse, telling the children since they were little he was a bad dad….all the stuff u do when u are a narcissist who will manufacture stories and implant bad memories that didn’t ever happen about their dad into their kids minds to make them afraid of dad,. All sounds very much like parental alienation 101. Now the eldest daughter is by the mom ‘s representation , which is hearsay, said that the eldest daughter is afraid of her dad and didn’t want to go see him and now won’t even communicate with him via phone or text. But the youngest daughter is happy to go visit her dad and speak with him…she might not have said happy but whatever it’d was she has chosen to go see him many times.
Dad should have had a lawyer present, and he paid the price.

I've watched this judge a few times. He is very strict in following Texas law. If there is a problem with his ruling, such as a party does not like the outcome, it is because they got the ruling the Texas law demanded, and he just served as the carrier for those pigeon droppings. In this case, the woman will be squealing when she gets her lawyer's bill and compares it to the $800 reduction Mr Edwards received, totaling $1500 compared to the $2300 that she wanted. She really thinks she should be able to force him out of retirement and back into the workforce just so her kid can participate in a for-profit volleyball club?

As a teacher I'm pretty sure she contributes to retirement fund from her gross pay, so she'll get that lump sum back when she retires. The 25000 was also his unused vacation and personal days, so that's money he earned before his retirement. I don't know anyone divorced that expects to keep the same level of living as before the divorce.

And I would bet u almost anything that she and her new husband are filing a joint tax return. In that case, she and her souse is obligated to turn over all the money she has access too. Just like the attorney questioned the father about any and all income. Ans wouldn’t except net income or even EBITDA. This judge knew this case has grounds for appeal on how he handled it and gave legal advice to the father….which he is not allowed to do and told him to appeal this case and he holds now ill will if it is overturned. The mom lied through her teeth. And bc the father was pro se and thought he could tell the truth and people believe him he would win. This comes to 20,180/yr or 1,682/mo. He's dropping down to 1,500/mo, but in June her expenses on kids drop to 3,700 for volleyball, 150 for food, 70 for phone, and 50 for clothing or 6,940/yr or 578/mo. Mind you, this is just my opinion, but I think this poor guy got screwed over.
He worked for over 20 years trying to protect us which to me, was a dangerous job. He absolutely deserved to be able retire. He had to have experienced burn out at his job more times than a can count. He may be 50 years old but he has done his duty and should not be forced to get another job to keep his ex wife in the life style she wants. It’s just wrong. Her kids are 17 and 14. She may be a teacher so it shouldn’t be hard for her to get a second job asking “ would you like fries with that”?
Leave the guy alone to enjoy his retirement. He has more than earned it.
I apologize for my rant but this just seems so unfair to him. When my kids were younger, I worked 3 jobs to take care of them.
I just disagree with this. He served our country and protected our borders. He deserves a medal.

Im 37 I make $190k before bonuses - my ex was getting $2k month when I was making $100k + insurance / tuition - I now pay around $5k before insurance for our one daughter (which I love and see very frequently) even though she is married and has another child… I also am married with two more children..
She would for sure get much more if I were not a financial professional - fortunate to be more knowledgeable on deferment / diversion vehicles to keep money away from court - i defer a big chunk and all bonuses into cash value whole life insurance lol the courts cannot touch it lol love handing that personal financial statement over and then they ask where the rest of that money is - “oh it’s right here in this LIFE INSURANCE policy!” 😂 that’s effectively built to be a Roth with all the benefits and no limitations… can’t touch that! It’s not about keeping money away from your kids as some people and judges will try to make you feel like - it’s about what’s right. $5k month for one child anywhere is fortunate.
I will say I think this guy was trying to be slick “retiring” very early at 50 from BP acting like he’s done when it’s well known there is a hugeeee private sector market for security personnel / training / knowledge etc. I think he fully intended to cut the ex at the knees then go to work making. Double what he was making by consulting - Ive had some planning clients that worked for govt making 2-4X what they made with govt in the private sector. So he kind of shot himself in foot by having zero counsel and she had a competent lawyer.
My point being - men get absolutely STUFFED in the courts and yet there is “NO EQUITY” for women apparently… there is no equity alright - but it’s very much skewed and almost incentivizes separation / split households because women can move on to another man, while milking the previous - of course, with the caveat that not all do - but it’s incredibly common and people wonder like there is this great mystery around the high divorce and separation rate - it’s almost incentivized for one party

This woman is unbelievably bitter. She is the one who desires to continue to live the same lifestyle prior to the divorce, she chose to move 800 miles away from the children's dad and states that any amount below 2300 per month is hurting her children?? The oldest isn't living with any of her parents and mom shouldn't get credit for her. If that child is old enough to live alone in a college dorm, then she's old enough to get a part time job to help with her expenses and take out student loans just like the rest of us. Let dad retire in peace and thank him for serving and protecting the boarder for 20 years. He deserves a break.

Does he have to retire in Texas when his children are almost grown and will be living their own lives? It's a 1300 mile distance vs 800 miles away is just a flight away like before. The mom is collecting enough money to buy a plane ticket and accumulate frequent flyer miles and incentives. I've turned in miles to fly round trip 1st class to Japan for 300.00 out of pocket. Bottom line, mom's just trying to make his retirement as chaotic as possible

I agree that the judge was an asshole toward the father. She collected $2300.00 every month and moved the child 800 miles away out of spike. She sat on her butt and did nothing for herself, like getting a job. Now the monies are running out, and if I were dad, I would not work anywhere for the next year. Then she would 19 years old.

I don’t feel he was hostile. He has guidelines he has to follow and he has no choice on many of them, so they are what they are. I think what most feel the hostility is aimed at, is the $25,000. But the facts are what the judge indicated, it IS income so it has to be considered. I realize he had to use it to live for the last 8 (don’t recall if he said 6or 8) months until his retirement payments began so it likely is gone. But he still received it, so it still has to be factored in. I did feel he made a couple of salty remarks about his early retirement, for instance when he went on about it being his right. I’m wondering if the judge felt he retired as a way to stop his ex from getting so much money and think the judge may feel the same. This man, who is perfectly capable of working, intentionally, and for no given reason other than personal preference, quit working, which impacts the lives of his children and how they are accustomed to living. If they were still married, I would hope his retirement and how his lesser income would affect the family would have been discussed because it wouldn’t only affect him. And I would hope after discussing they, as a couple, would have decided to put off the retirement at least until the youngest had graduated HS. As it were, it seems he cares not that his ex may struggle as she finishes school. And I think the judge was very aware of how he comes off as not putting his children first. 🤷‍♀️

@@CorruptHawkeyez Its different now. Used to be the only option was school sponsored activities. Nowadays there are independent clubs/leagues that provide competitive outlets for sports, cheerleading, dance, etc... Its big money to participate due to the club fees (its kind of like private tuition), uniforms, and equipment. Then there are travel costs (gas, food, lodging) because these private teams play each other regionally. Case in point, I have relatives that spent about $10,000 per year for their kids to participate in travel ball.
