I personally have a lot of success with rooting them in water and then just planting them in a regular airy soilmix. The very little downside of that is that the water just needs to be changed every like 3-4 days. But yeah, that’s how I do it and how it works for me the best. Hope you are doing well…
Love your channel and the videos, hope you keep It up 😍😊👍

Heya Robert, hope all is well. Ahh I worry that the bulb will just rot on me though I've never actually tried it. Yea I did think you'd need to change the water frequently but as it works for you it's not that bad. I am doing well thank you! Aww thank you. I appreciate your words of encouragement as at times its needed! 🙂🤗

Thanks for this.. I’m wondering what temperature you keep these in while getting the corm going .

    •  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

You're welcome, the temperature is about 26 degrees on average. No lower than 22 but highest 33 in the summer but it's not often at that.

@ I really appreciate this - my bulbs(3) have finally popped out, tiny little green growth, couldn’t call it a leaf yet.! So excited but growth is so slow as I have no way of controlling the temperature. I have a grow light on it but no idea of temperature and nights are cold. Any recommendations re how to keep it at better temperature without spending a fortune or moving house 😉? It’s my only tropical type plant.
I’m dying to look for roots and now feel confident of doing that, seeing how you handled it .
      Thanks again

I feel silly asking this, but what kind of moss? I’ve never worked with moss and I’m new to propagating, but this is amazing!! Like, can I order moss on Amazon? How does it stay wet? Do I water it in the bag? Thank you…

    •  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Heya, don't feel silly as there is a lot of different types of moss out there! I use New Zealand Spagh. Moss. However any moss that has a soft/ fluffy texture once the excess water is squeezed out should be good. You can also use perlite if you haven't got any moss yet and water that like you would a normal plant but if you have a bulb in a bag (with moss) then yes, water it in the bag enough so that it's damp but not too wet. Any excess water drain off. Hope that helps :)

Hi, i tryed 3 times on différent alo and it always rot :(
Idk what i do wrong, maybe it's colder at my place ?

    •  ปีที่แล้ว

Hello, what mediums did you use and where is the bulb positioned in your place?

Just wondering if I could put a few bulbs in the bag at a time? Or should I just keep the one per bag :)! Thanks for the tutorial!!

    •  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Heya. Hope you’re well and you’re welcome. You can definitely put more than one bulb in a bag. Just note that as they grow, when you’re ready to pot them you’ll need to untangle the roots from
the moss and each other, just so you know but otherwise go for it!

Thank you. So far soo good. I may pot it up with my others as I've got a larger and medium size plant.

Can I put it from moss to soil easy? I hope my plant don't die when I try this, the switch to another medium :)

    •  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Heya Teije, yes you can. It’s pretty straight forward just don’t put any Spagh moss on the soil and you should be fine. As long as you feel the roots are long enough. Just keep the soil a little damp for a couple weeks to help with the transition from the damp moss.

    • @wayneseow5594
      @wayneseow5594 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@ Rather than trying to untangle the roots from the moss, can you plant the whole thing straight into soil, moss and all?

How often do you open the bag to let air in?😊

    •  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Heya Marcus every couple of days. The longest has been four days but I wouldn't recommend that.

I love seeing others propagating in moss! I'm currently letting 3 Amazonica and 5 Yucatan princess corms root. I have mine in a mini greenhouse on a heating mat and the Yucatan Princess ones are just taking off like crazy.

    •  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Ohh look at you, you've got quite a few. Wishing you all the best with all of them. :)

When should you check your Alocasias for bulbs?

    •  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Heya, if you are growing your plant from a bulb then I'd give it a year. If you've bought it and it's a decent size I'd always check when repotting. However sometimes you'll see them pocking out of the top of the soil so sometimes I'll just check the first inch of soil around the base of the plant every now and again.
