    This is a great looking bike! It definitely reminds me of the V-Rod. One of the things I liked about the V-Rod over this is with the V-Rod you could throw on a sissy bar and some saddle bags and you can have a passenger and then easily remove all that stuff and ride solo. With this you can only ride solo. That is a dealbreaker for me, I would definitely buy this bike if it could have the option of doing that. It’s a shame that they discontinued the V-Rod, it could’ve remained and been called a touring sport bike. I’m really liking the Sport Glide, I do believe it will be my next motorcycle.
    👍🏻👍🏻

    One spec worth mentioning is about $24,000 out the door plus finance charges to boot! Don’t know how many new young riders that will attract? Also as mentioned, the far forward controls combined with almost a 28 inch seat height automatically eliminates any new or old riders under 5’8. I will definitely keep my Dyna. Block, you can’t really give serious test rides going from stop light to stop light on a bike that’s not broken in yet! But I appreciate your effort. Hang on to that Lowrider S of yours!

      BLOCKHEAD Block, I may just do that! It would be nice to really ring these New Harley Models out on a closed circuit track. I did a lot of flat track, TT and Motocross Racing when I was younger so naturally I would love to see these new models ridden hard to really see what they are capable of. Take care and enjoy that Lowrider S of yours, I think it could be a valuable classic in the near future.

      vector6977 I agree, actually I think this new generation is on average much taller then my generation maybe 5’10 to 6’ feet, however Harley is advertising this new model as a sport/performance cruiser and have been crying their hearts out about pulling in new riders. If Harley was smart they would have put forward mid controls on that would fit a wider range of the market they are going after, and also offer mid and far forward controls as a option with the goal of reaching out to a broader customer base for this particular new model.. yes I know about lean angles, but pulling in more new riders and other potential customers for this new model should have been a key factor in terms of selling as many units as possible no matter what their inseam is at least to a degree.

    $21k?? Harley still hasn't learned that they need to make these bikes cheaper?? Amazing... EDIT: Wonder what the profit margin is in HD bikes.. It seriously can't cost anywhere near what they charge for their higher end bikes.

      Engineering cost money, CNC equipment cost money, employees cost money design teams, the list goes on. Bitchin about how much Harley's cost FREE! If you sat you ass down on a FXDR and rode it you would understand WHY it cost so much money. Harley makes entry levels products that are reasonably priced, the higher performance bikes are WELL worth the $$$. Oh yeah have you bought a meal at your friendly neighborhood hamburger joint lately? Reality check! Harley puts out a GREAT product in a hostile environment, what have you done for the last 115 years. Oh I know complain. Cheaper? Go to the DOLLAR STORE.

    I went to a HD open house last weekend. I'm 50,got an endorsement when I was 19. I've owned 6 street bikes. Two Hondas,two Kaws,one Yamaha and one Harley. I love to ride. Harley was the first street bike I owned. It was slow,heavy,leaked and used oil...sold it. Got lucky,picked up a 73 z1 900,a gem. Rode it for years. A friend bugged me for years to sell it to him. Eventually, I did. Several years and many metrics later I decided to give HD another try. I rode every thing they have over the weekend. I left disappointed and didn't purchase anything. The bikes are visual works of art,but overpriced and still have engineering flaws. The FXDR 114 was the worst, in my opinion. The ergonomics were uncomfortable and the engine had my upper right thigh smokin' hot...I really wanted to take something home. I did actually like three models enough to talk with a sales rep. But the msrp. Was the price,so I walked away. I liked the new Fatboy,Ultra Limited and the Heritage Softail. I had 60% in cash,financing the balance. They said prices reflected the bottom line in conjunction with the Open House. Long story,I cut out early from work the following Tuesday and walked into a Honda Dealership,rode off on a new Goldwing...did'nt have to call the bank. Ride On

    so I rode the FXDR and the 114 fatbob back to back at a demo event yesterday. the bikes ride almost the exact same. the only physical differences I really felt were the handle bars and the seats and that fly windscreen actually does a noticeable good job on the freeway. only perception thing I noticed was you feel like you are riding ON an FXDR, while you ride kind of IN a fatbob. overall, I would take the fatbob over the FXDR due to the ratio of bike per dollar. 18k vs 21k

    Matt Laidlaw did a interview at the dealer show with the lead engineer of the FXDR, he is the one that said the FXDR plate covers the handle bar riser mount. if they put mid controls on it, no one over 6 foot could ride it. when I sat on one, my only complaint was that damned air intake being in the way. (6'2" with 34" inseam) it also felt like the 2019 fatbob forwards were moved back too.

    I 100% agree that its a LOT like a cross between the Pro Stock CVO Breakout and the V-Rod....but I also think they took some styling queues from the Ducati Diavel. I like the bike but for the money I would do the Ducati instead as its a LOT more power with a MUCH better suspension (if you go the S model). If you absolutely have to own a Harley vice any other brand, then yeah, I like it but would probably do a VRod or CVO Breakout just for the fact that it has a rear seat for those days you want a passenger to go to the bar with you....This is a great bike, but I think it has somewhat of an identity crisis....

    I mean its kinda obvious why they went with forward controls for this bike. They went with forward controls because the bike does sits too low for mids due to the rake angle they chose. If they put mids on it you would scrap on every turn....I chose the Fatbob over this bike for that reason. Fat bob sits a little higher and even though it has forward controls they almost feel like mids. I thought that the fatbob handled much better and basically has the same amount of power...Nice review!

Wind screen is $400+ not sure it would look right though. Everything you say is spot on. Drag bars sound good. Bigger pegs are a must unless you have tiny feet. Hard to read info another issue. The exhaust is quiet but you change the look if you throw on different pipes. Hey Blockhead so would U go for a FXDR or a 114 Breakout? what R the biggest advantages and disadvantages for bouth bikes compered to each other? cause they have the same frame geometry. FXDR seems the be a jackup Breakout with a smaller front wheel and dual brakes. So in theory one can buy a 114 Breakout sava some money compered to FXDR and do a suspension swap. Or would U say the FXDR is more then that?

    • @BlockheadMoto

      Of the two, FXDR, for the fact that it's lighter weight and has a MUCH better lean angle, and feels like it handles better. Go test ride them both for yourself though and get a feel for each!

    I love the initial appearance of the new FXDR but unless they make mids or even better, Rear set foot controls i would never own one, as it stands if they do they're probably able to be swapped on the Fat Bob too so i'd rather put mids on my 2018 Fat Bob because i don't like forwards too much honestly, i rode a HD 750 Street which has mids and i loved it then a traded and i love my Fat Bob but i do like the aggressive more controlled feeling of Mids over any forwards

    Nicest looking Harley I've seen, except for the forward controls, but to expensive for me at the moment, besides I've only been riding since January, I'll stick with my Ktm Duke 125 2018 😀 until I get my full license. Seriously mate you need to be more critical in your reviews.
    The last half dozen have all had the same result.......Nice.
    Doesn't matter if it's been a bagger or a Fatboy......
    Harley-Davidson isn't going to disown you if you give negative feedback.
    Remember ALL new bikes are only new once and if they aren't popular they dissappear.
    Bad foot control location, too low bars, an air intake that hits your leg and not to mention a hot header pipe are all things you need to emphasize to your viewing public (us) is not acceptable on a new bike.
    People are going to pay big bucks for these things and then once again are going to have to pay the 'Harley Tax' to fix.
    I know everyone has their own opinions and that's great but if YOU are going to do a critical review......put it out there!
    Good job as always.

    • @ragingtyga
      @ragingtyga 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What do you want him to be critical of? He mentioned how he didn't really like forward controls, and said that many times, he also mentioned it's a slightly awkward to plant your feet at a top and not touch the exhaust. He also mentioned the bars weren't for everyone, but mentioned that the bars are replaceable, talked about the taillight assembly of how people weren't digging it, and it's removable....I mean, what do you want? He genuinely likes the bike, so his criticism was honest.

    • @paulkilmister2223
      @paulkilmister2223 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Raging Tyga
      Like I said the last half dozen or more reviews have been almost identical.
      I understand that Blockhead said what he didn't like during the review but at the end one would think that none of those issues counted.
      Just my take on it as I'm pretty cut and dry like that.
      If so many things were wrong with the bike including the suspension, I'd say that overall I didn't like the bike.
      Sure it looks great but I don't like the setup, something like that.
      Just mentioning that the bars are too low or the intake is hitting my leg isn't really saying a negative thing.
      It comes across to me that he doesn't want to be too critical about a bike so he doesn't offend the powers that be at O.H.D.
      Just my thoughts......

    • @ragingtyga
      @ragingtyga 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The bottom line is, you're looking for a reason to hate the bike... You're not getting it. I sat on one of these, it's amazing. If I could afford it, I'd buy one, but that's fine, they have other bikes, brand new, that I like to. Blockhead started from a late model 883 which you can find only a few years old for 6-7K. He worked his way up to his FXDLS, which because it's rare, easily goes for 17K for a 2017
