- The FALCON! The fastest animal in the world. This bird of prey can reach speeds over 200 MPH when diving for prey. And this week... Coyote will BECOME a falcon! Follow Coyote as he gets hands on with a falcon, and then watch as he falls 13,000 feet out of a plane to make his final falcon transformation!

I did a 15.000 feet skydive and must of reached speeds up to 160 170 mph if not more I was free falling for over a minute. Crazy fun .
As a child, and growing up, the Peregrine Falcon was always my favorite. My local library had a collection of stuffed birds of prey, and I was always drawn to that falcon. I have only once had the opportunity to hold one at a bird show, and it was amazing!

My son and I loved this! He says, "Man, falcons are fast, but they don't look fast!" His favorite part was when Coyote jumped out of the plane. So cool! :)

Skydiving really isn't that dangerous or scary... just go with a licensed professional on a tandem jump.
Honestly, the bigger issue was that all of my coffee and energy bar came up the ole esophagus mid-air, and I rained it down on the populous below. Never seen vomit travel sideways before.
120mph and yet still not quite half as fast as a Peregrine Falcons top max potential speed. Definitely my all time favorite animal in the world.

To be fair, the position they were falling in is about the slowest possible. A single skydiver in a head down streamline position (like the falcon) can actually reach similar speeds as the falcon does. But the falcon can climb back up on his own!

I really like the variety that's going on now. While it's fun to see you take stings and bites, it isn't the end-all-be-all and I love to see more about other beautiful animals in our world.
This is awesome guys. Maybe for next animal simulation should be a dolphin. Gotta use a dive scooter to propel fast and then find a way to use echolocation. 🐸🍺🔪🔥

surprised they didn't mention the falcon's tomial tooth to aid the catching of prey, since their claws are actually very small compared to most eagles, hawks and some owls like the great horned owl.

The edit on this video was incredible, it came out so well! Falcons are some of the most impressive birds in the world to me, you definitely did them proud.
And, Coyote did an incredibly good job lure flying the bird too. I was the one that taught him how to do it and not only is he an incredibly nice guy, but he’s a quick learner as well!

This animal is just more proof of intelligent design that there is a creativer
Fun fact: hollow bones in birds do not weight less than they would if they were full but they're hollow to store oxygen so they can fly for longer. If you want to you can think about it like their bones are more similar to oxygen tanks rather than a way to be lighter because it has to be compensated in thickness so they don't snap from the sheer forces that are exerted on them.

Fun fact, peregrines also have cones in their noses to slow down air when in a dive, which was also the inspiration for the nose cones on the SR-71 Blackbird
Small correction if you'll allow me, not the nose cone of the SR-71 but rather the inlet cones for the engines, which are adjustable to allow more or less air to flow into the engines.

It's fascinating stuff, there are some really good videos here on TH-cam that delve deeply into how an SR-71's engines worked in a very user friendly manner, you don't need to be an engineer to understand it, I'm certainly not one. It's interesting, the Blackbirds' engines were somehow simultaneously more complicated and more simple than you'd think.

Cheetahs are the fastest land animals in the world, but not the fastest in general.
Peregrine falcons are my favorite raptors because of their amazing speed and great eyesight!

Yep, fastest animal on land is the cheetah, fastest in the water is a little bit of a debate because it's usually considered to be the black marlin although a lot of people think reports of their speed is exaggerated, and the fastest animal in the air, which is also the fastest overall, is the peregrine falcon. They can only reach top speed when diving straight down though, so if you want the fastest animal when flying horizontally, it's the Mexican "free-tailed" bat.
