SOG Kiku XR

Another SOG knife with the XR locking mechanism. This is a Kiku Matsuda design with natural linen micarta scales. Ergonomics are superb. A bit on the heavier side but a well rounded EDC and I think it would function great as an outdoor knife!

Hey, thanks for the comment! Yes, I really like the the feel and look of the micarta as well... I also sharpened the blade a bit, now it's exactly what I expect.

I really loved this knife when I bought it but over time the micarta got to be in pretty bad shape. I looked up a couple of tutorials on how to clean it and it did help for a little while but it quickly degraded back to a shiny/dingy state. It does not appear that SOG sells replacement scales for these and support has not responded to any of my requests for replacements (even though Ive offered to pay for them). Looking around online Ive not found anyone who makes replacement scales so not sure what to do with my old Kiku.

Why does the sog website blade not same as this one? Is Taiwan made better?

Not sure what is meant where the blade is not the same, would you care to elaborate?

@bladebruddahs6676 it seemed like this one was different from website. Also some have Taiwan on them and some do not.

​@@RealLegend1776the SOG kiku XR only has "SOG kiku XR" label on the front and from the other side the kiku sign along with the "CTS XHP" engraving, meanwhile the SOG kiku LTE XR has the "STUDIES AND OBSERVATION GROUP" and below is the Kiku XR LTE "CTS-XHP" engraving, and in the other side is only the kiku sign with no more logos
The clones/fakes/replicas/junk, etc. only Say SOG kiku XR, and in the other side is the Skull (wich is a old logo I think SOG doesnt use it anymore on their knives) and in the side of the Skull is the CTS-XHP engraving
