SOG Kiku XR
Another SOG knife with the XR locking mechanism. This is a Kiku Matsuda design with natural linen micarta scales. Ergonomics are superb. A bit on the heavier side but a well rounded EDC and I think it would function great as an outdoor knife!

SOG Terminus XR

I've always liked the designs of SOG and recently was introduced to the Terminus XR. It checked all my boxes in terms of size, weight, ease of use, and price in terms of an EDC for my children. So, interestingly this will be my first video where I am showcasing 3 variations of the same model.

Gerber Ayako - Product Review
มุมมอง 1.6K2 ปีที่แล้ว
The Gerber Ayako's design definitely has inspirations from traditional Japanese blades. From the Higo No Kami style "chikiri" tail on the blade to the katana blade shape, and the name "Ayako" which means Colorful Child in Japanese.

Reviewing yet another karambit, the Cold Steel Tiger Claw. This is the first serrated blade karambit I've acquired. The trademark Tri-Ad Lock and slim profile are interesting but the size and feel in a reverse grip is not what I would expect for defense use.

I really loved this knife when I bought it but over time the micarta got to be in pretty bad shape. I looked up a couple of tutorials on how to clean it and it did help for a little while but it quickly degraded back to a shiny/dingy state. It does not appear that SOG sells replacement scales for these and support has not responded to any of my requests for replacements (even though Ive offered to pay for them). Looking around online Ive not found anyone who makes replacement scales so not sure what to do with my old Kiku.

I mean I'd argue that you can "stab" with a karambit, its just done in a punch rather than an icepick motion. It's a. Modified stab but a stab wound none the less rather than just a slash or cut.

Just looking at them not sure about blade quality but I will stick with my under 10 dollars Gordon 2.9 inch nonserated blade knife.. flicks open effortlessly.. has a liner lock.. seems to stay sharp.. so I'm happy unless the other two were made in u.s.a. I'll say it's a hard pass.. but thanks for reviewing them..👍

My EDC is the SOG Grambit Karambit. I love it. Awesome sheath. Great retention. I like the straighter edge. It’s light weight. Very durable. And honestly I love the grip panels and the look of the blade itself. Plus…. It’s very cheap in comparison to many of the others and a great buy for the price in every way.

Also just a Chinese mystic/superstition saying; once a blade touched blood, it will often cut for the taste of blood. 2 days ago, I removed the plastic wrap I did myself for my 2 Magnum Tanto 9 imch, one is cpm 3v while another is san mai. 2 days ago got small cut on my left index finger by my San Mai version, which made me stopped cleaning and yesterday I continued, the cut was super deep and bleeded non stop. Not once already, almost every time was that particular blade, not that I was careless nor I don't know how as I always would clean all of my blades. It's this Magnum Tanto always wanna "taste' blood. Dang! Feel like throwing it but too expensive to throw🤣. Just to name a few fixed blades from Cold Steel I owned, I have both the recon tanto(also 1 in cpm 3v, 1 in San Mai), Gurkha Kukri Plus O2 steel, Natchez Bowie O2. Just this particular Magnum Tanto 9 San Mai almost every time I cleaned it, sure would have been sliced by it. Devil blade 🤣

The blade shape is completely "Kukriesk" it was designed by one of the most knowledgeable and respected historical blade experts of the 20th century. You may want to research who Hank Reinhardt was. There is quite a variety of traditional khukri shapes dependant on place of manufacture and intended task.

I got the CRKT CEO Bamboo. it came dull and when i tried to cut something the little blade stop pin didn't stop the blade from folding backwards. Since then I've put the pin back in the hole and tightened the screw and sharpened it, but now I don't trust it. so it's sitting in a drawer. I also have the CRKT SPEW, i really like it but they need to include a vertical mount, I had to order a ulticlip just so I could carry it

I know this is an old video. Hope you are doing OK. I have a bunch of modern kukri knives. My BK21 has been stripped with a vinegar forced patina. The scales have been upgraded, and the blade has been convexed. It is a chopping machine, but I can make feather sticks with it. I find it very well balanced for its size, and I absolutely love it. The convex edge holds up remarkably well, too. Oh, and a kydex sheath is the way to go!
