    On my way to the show I got to share a Tesla with Joe Lstebrick. When I walked in your team was setting up the intro and got to talk with Steve Baczik. Over the next few days got to meet with everyone from the Build Show network and other people you have made videos with. I was telling Jake about the details I was using from his work and him telling me, Great…just don’t F them up. 😂 When I saw Matt he said, “I remember you!” Everyone has been so great and genuine, the knowledge they share is so valuable. It was a memorable time going to IBS. When I got back home I was contacting by a prospective client that saw the videos I posted and wants a high performance home.

    Love the video Matt. A couple notes my personal opinion. If you have to use primer to use the schluter ditra self stick you might as well just morter it down. Faster in my opinion. Second love love cavity pocket door kits I highly recommend to those that have never used them. Top notch kit

    The radiant heating/cooling system would work well for smaller homes or even tiny homes where ductwork wouldn't be something you'd want to run due to space restraints! (i would lean to radiant floor heat for heating, but depending on price and need for infloor storage or locating of tanks this is agreat alternative!) Very cool!

    I can see the peel and stick Detra being very popular amongst retrofit projects. As it happens I’m working on turning my upstairs bathroom in the two and attaching the new bathroom to a bedroom thereby making them the master bedroom and bath. Problem is the house was built in 1915, so I don’t have the luxury of using mud on an OSB subfloor, I have lath subfloors. I could rip them out and install a new subfloor, or I could sand the existing subfloor flat, use the peel and stick, and go straight to tiling, thereby eliminating weight and extra layers I don’t necessarily need.

    • @rowdynoe9595
      @rowdynoe9595 ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably not, you want atleast an 1-1/8" thickness of subfloor underneath the tile. 3/4" plank board+1/4" cement board with thinset to make flat+1/8" thinset underneath tiles is the correct way to do it.

    very interesting new schluter product, but don't chemical adhesive bonds all breakdown over time? whereas thin set is a mechanical adhesion and less prone to losing its bond? I'm not an expert just my quick thoughts.

    At first when I heard about the Messana wall cooling and heating, I was thinking "No, thats way too much. However, here in Arizona its hot and our attics are HOT. I mean, you'll die up there in a short time hot. So, in a conventional track home with hot attics and blown in insulation above the ceiling, would this system work to cool from the ceiling under the blown insulation? So much heat radiates down even after the sun goes down.

    • @messanatech
      @messanatech ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi there! This is actually a great use case for our ceiling panels!
      Since AZ summers are so dry, humidity is less of a concern, making radiant cooling more ideal than a forced air system that would have ducts running through the hot attic!
      Typically for cooling, we aim for 70% ceiling coverage. So, as long as we meet the calculated load requirements, we can create a comfortable environment!

    Panel on ceiling should also have a sprinkler mist system
    Since you're sending water to the ceiling might as well use it for the, fire system too
    And you have the air quality monitor so let it detect heat smoke for each room. Buy a company that does the mist fire system and get the entire idea first to market.
    You can send me the patent royalties 1/2 share and sure send me a complete house system with them all as one ;) thanks

    Matt- was Everlast exhibiting ? Royal celect is excellent but up to 2x price of cement boards. Everlast makes a very similar excellent siding to Royal Celect at 75% the price . I can recommend both highly. Price indifferent, I like to Royal sl better, but you cant go wrong with the Everlast equivalent. , and money is money even for most your viewers. Both provide free samples by the way. Can’t understand anyone going with cement board with these product now available.

  • @wayneroach6736

      Primer dries in 20 minutes, by the time you finish putting it down it’s basically dry. But it’s only needed on hard to bond surfaces. A clean slab or subfloor is ready to go right away.

    I don't trust the adhesive for longevity compared to mortar. Cost wise, we have been using Redguard uncoup. found at home depot for about 2 years now. The ditra mats are nice but aren't always available locally in stock...whereas if we need an extra roll of redguard because the count was short or whatever...can just pop into home depot and get the job done for the day. Love that it has fleece backing built in...only con we have found is that the ends curl upon install(it's a roll afterall) but not a big deal as we just leave a couple tiles or something else with some weight to it near the install to hold down the edges until the mortar sets up. Ardex X5 is awesome and grabs really well so after switching to 100% ardex for our mortars/grouts/epoxy it's not even a big issue at all.

    • @mid_south_schluter_rep
      @mid_south_schluter_rep ปีที่แล้ว

      The curling issue on Ditra and Ditra Heat was corrected over a year ago. There’s a small line grid embossed over the entire membrane. Not only is it a great cutting guide but it’s true reason is to add more flexibility while reducing the roll memory. The rolls lay flat with no need to weight the corners down.
