You're absolutely correct. I never thought Jackie was a very 'loving' person anyway. Of course, she was a protective mother and thought exceptionally highly of her own kids, I don't think she ever had a passionate love relationship. She was cold and calculating and knew how to use herself to become very successful financially. I really think she married both her husbands for money - that's it And Templeman was just a nice guy as well as being a financial advisor!

Callas was not just an affair. She was there long before Jackie, and she actually loved him. With Jackie, he was simply convenient. He was security and safety, and he got the benefit of having a famous trophy wife on his arm. Jackie actually stole him from her sister, Lee.
By all accounts, Lee was devastated and never did completely forgive Jackie for that one.

I read an interesting interview with Aristotle’s secretary. She said he loved being married to Jackie! (Maybe because of the status it gave him.) Jackie Kennedy´s husbands were both unfaithful. She did not marry them out of love, because they both did not love her at all. She was a suitable first lady for Kennedy and she brought this status within her marriage with Onassis. It was smart of her to marry Onassis after the murder on her first husband. I think that she felt some companionship for both of them and that she wanted the status that her first husband could offer her and the protection that the second husband could offer.

They ended up divorcing despite the social backlash divorce triggered at the time. Jackie and Lee were pitted against each other by their father in competition for his approval. Both girls never knew what a happy marriage looked like and were encouraged to find wealth instead of happiness. Both women married for money and traded up for more money with each marriage. Both never attained true happiness either.
No Jackie did love John Kennedy. Jackie was crazy over him by all accounts. Basically, Joe Kennedy liked her Immediately and felt she was the right woman for his son to marry and he thought she could help him get to the White House as he said she has so much class and charisma. I don’t know your age or why you began your sentence with “Really” but Ted Kennedy brokered the deal between Jackie and Aristotle and this documentary left several factors out. Jackie is on record confiding in friends and family about her fear for the lives of her children. She just witnessed her brother in law, her husband and MLK being assassinated… in her lifetime. It was a very dangerous political time. My family are Washingtonians… we lived it. Look up how much the JFK estate left her. It was plenty for her to live her opulent life style. I don’t know about her living in NYC for 9 months out of the year so soon after marrying Aristotle, but Ted Kennedy believed Aristotle could provide proper security detail for Jackie and her family as well as the life she was accustomed to living. That was far more than what she was suppose to get, but according to the books I have read Christina was said to despise Jackie and wanted her out of her life forever.
I understand better now how she ended up with him. It was a double rebound for Jackie to lose her husband John and then her brother in law and friend Bobby.

In the book I read about Onassis: Ari- The Life and Times of Aristotle Onassis, I read that he was actually born in 1900, not 1906. The book said he falsified his birth records. He apparently did this so the record would show that he became a millionaire in his early 20's instead of around the age of 30.

I never liked her but then I am not American. Callas truly loved Onassis and virtually gave up her career for him only to see him marry Mrs Kennedy. I believe she died of a broken heart.

That is not her gravestone. It is, I believe, at the Sorbonne in Paris, where she was a student in 1949/1950 (her junior year at college.) She also attended the University of Grenoble in France during this time as part of a study-abroad program through Smith College. I'm not sure which school displays this plaque. She had started out at Vassar and eventually graduated from George Washington University.
A sad story. Jackie Kennedy didn’t appear to be a nice woman. John Kennedy was also unfaithful to Jackie. So there seemed to be a problem there with her relationships that the men didn’t keep faithful to her.

I read years ago that Jackie refused to wear Onassis' wedding ring because she wouldn't take off JFK wedding ring he gave her when they married!! I think these two really embarrassed each other. As for Ari well I think he should have married his real love Maria Callas! Jackie was poison and wanted attention and drama since she was a child.
