Canadian wines are difficult to find but the effort is worth it.

True - one of my favourite Niagara producers is Tawse for Pinot and Chardonnay. Delicious!

@@WineWithJimmy Great wine! Expressive palate of apricot, melon and baked spices. Used to find it at Oddbins but not anymore, any idea? Your videos are exceptional as always Jimmy!

Canadian Wines are often overlooked so the price isn't astronomically high. Most of the premiums and super premiums are only available in the winery ( I saw a Wayne Gretzky whisky barrel aged Red wine with a price tag of $120cdn, is it good? I have no clue) because there is so little produced in each vintage. Funny thing is most premium wines don't even make it out of the border ( Whiskies too).

@WineWithJimmy I had their 2013 Tawse Chardonnay Icewine. My God it was good. At first it didn't sell well until Xmas 2022 where lcbo had a price reduction then it went flying. Even the winery ran out. Good thing I got a few left in my inventory.

Try British Colombia wines - you should be able to fin Painted Rock's wines in the UK...for WSET students, even though the book says there are 5 DVAs in BC, the correct number is now 9: Vancouver Island, Gulf Islands, Fraser Valley, Lillooet, Okanagan, Kootenays, Thompson Valley, Shuswap, Similkameen

The grape that really surprised me in the Niagara Region is Cabernet Franc ( Cab Sauv, Merlot is too popular so might as well go for unique grapes). Not many places make 100% Cab Franc and Niagara region is one of them. 2019 was a so so vintage but when I went to 2 wineries just to get some data and they all point to 2020 vintage. One of the staff tried and he claimed the juce is so good even before transfered into the barrel. ( I live in the Toronto Area so it's a 2hr drive to the niagara region)

I think the Okanagan Valley is considered semi-arid. There has been some false data saying it was the upper part of the Sonoran Desert but that’s not correct. Love the videos. Hi from Rochester NY right between the Finger-lakes AVA and Niagara DVA. Wish I were in London to visit your place!
