    I am incredibly happy that I found your channel. I have been faithful to Calkewalk since inception and sometimes it feels like I am alone in Sweden to use it. Fighting and advertising that it is so good. Now even that it is free!
    I will now enjoy the rest of your videos and hope there will be many more like these. A friend from Sweden / Thomas

    Thank you, I'm just getting back into piano after 30 years. I'm trying to learn cakewalk while at work and this helps me to have a keyboard, while not actually having a big MIDI controller thing at my desk. That would not look good. This way I can discreetly learn the software while I have downtime. subscribed. :-)

    Holy carp, Mike, I think you are a mind reader! I spent a few hours yesterday tracking my acoustic guitar on a really tricky song. Fortunately I did watch your video on comping first, which totally changed my mindset on how to improve my workflow (thanks!) but all the time I was thinking, "there must be a better way to control Cakewalk than balancing my guitar on my knee, leaning over to press record, and trying to get back in place before the recording started". And there is, brilliant!

    Wow!!! Thank you very, very much! After my Studio One 6 trial period got over and I stopped being able to use SO Remote, it was a pretty sad moment, because I really need to control my PC while playbacking or recording when I am 10 meters away from it)) And now I even can use a remote control for ANY DAW! That's cool indeed!

    Thank you for this fantastic suggestion. I immediately bought this nice app and installed it on my tablet. The only limitation is about instructions. The on line manual made by the App creator is not so detailed. For this reason there are some buttons I don't know how to use, and some others need a combination with using some other button. If you could do a video with practical examples of each button it could be really, really helpful!!!
    Anyway, than you again for your extraordinary site and your high quality in these fantastic videos!!!!

    Hi Mike, I just want to say that I have appreciated several of your cakewalk tutorials being some what new to it. A few questions if I may can the phone app apply to multiple routers or does this need to be done for separate addresses as I own another property. Secondly I noticed you had several channels in cakewalk and I tap out at 16 as I am using the free Bandlab Cakewalk. Is yours a different version ? Or are they both Sonor. Greatly admire your skills. Thanks again.

    Loved the touchdaw back in the early sonar X days. using TouchOSC now with AZ's programme due to the flexibility. Such innovations should keep those brands at bay that charge an arm and a leg for extra knobs and faders on a midi controller.

    To those of u who cannot get the mod wheel and pitch wheel working. I've finally worked out a solution. Create two sessions in rtpMIDI, I named one "Session_daw" and another "Session_midi". Go to cakewalk and in Preferences > Midi > Devices, the two sessions should appear. In the input section check both "session_midi" and "session_daw", but in the output section only check "session_daw". Then go to Control Surfaces and follow the steps in the video which is adding a new Controller Surface and selecting mackie control, this time input is "session_daw" and output is "session_daw", the mod and pitch wheel and other faders for other cc values should start working

    TouchDAW is freakin awesome!! WELL worth the 5 bucks or so. .... I didn't hear you mention this, but it essentially emulates a Mackie MCU, which is pretty sweet.
    On a tablet, TouchDAW is even BETTER cuz you get 8 track faders plus the master fader, as well as numerous other buttons on the right side. GREAT stuff!
    The only thing for ME is that I need to start remembering to actually USE it, particularly when I'm in a mixing session LOL

    • @micranes673
      @micranes673 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Man I am glad you posted. I was just wondering about that as I have probably three of four old tablets laying around. Now I am wondering if I can hook up multiple tablets for different screens at the same time. This could save a lot of money on controllers.

    • @artao5
      @artao5 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@micranes673 I would think that's possible, to a degree. But you would have to set BOTH instances of TouchDAW up just right. Of course, I've not tried this. I'm pretty sure you'd only be able to use two tablets at once tho.
      It sends the Mackie MCU info to the DAW on one wireless channel and MIDI signals on the other. So on one tablet you could have the mixing console, and on the other you could have, say, X/Y controllers or the keyboard or the Launchpad/Push style interface. You'd have to configure each instance of TouchDAW so Wireless 1 came from the mixer tablet, with nothing being sent on Wireless 2, then the other would do the opposite.

    One quick question, how did you set your TouchDaw app to work in conjunction with your external faders? I have an bheringer xtouch one connected via MCU and got both to work, however I can't move the TouchDaw to the tracks I would like to use it for (drum recording). It put's space between MCU 1 (xtouch) and MCU 2 (TouchDaw). I tried setting TouchDaw as a MCU XT which allowed me to move it to the tracks, however in this mode it did not allow for transport or track arming. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Great Tutorial as always, btw, and it was very easy to set up and get running with TouchDaw! Thanks

      It uses WiFi, means you should be close to router for it to work. If your router is in another room, you can buy another wifi router/switch and hook it up via long cable. Another solution is KORG Nanokontrol Studio, but it also comes with issues. It uses Bluetooth midi wich is a new thing to Microsoft, so expect it to cause trouble when you have connected controller via bluetooth and another device via midi interface or usb. Most likely you will crash the software you are working on. I totally gave up on making a wireless setup. in 2020 it is still garbage.

    Doesn't work for me. Set all connections up exactly as per the video, and the only difference I could tell in my process vs. the tutorial is that my tablet never gave any indication it was "searching" or initiating contact with my computer. Just changed the settings, hit apply and okay - and then I backed up a screen and it did nothing.
    Can't figure out what I missed, or if there's some other default setting on my devices that needs to be turned on to search for/recognize a connection.

    I installed and it worked in demo mode for about a week and then stopped working, I dont mind paying for the full version, but i dont want to pay if it stops working( of course) has the demo got a time limit on it and that is why it stopped or is there another reason? Can anyone advise ?

      Hey Min, if you go to "Utilities > Mackie Control - 1", there are some options there for metering.
