      @Moist White on AsAm racism tends to be more passive aggressive than overt. You get "put in a box" with preconceived stereotypes. It's why Asian men internet forums give an awfully toxic/incel vibe. If society tells you you aren't manly enough, you'll express frustration on the internet with other frustrated men.
      For the women in our cohort, they regularly deal with men who see them as an object. You'd think, "cool! You have hordes of men into you!" But it's actually dehumanizing and creepy. That's from what the women in my family told me.

Our little sisters are in school pics together from jk to 8. My sister went to a different high school for gifted kids. Brian is dead. Brian was in the same Socioeconomic bracket as me. We exemplify how literally nothing has changed. Me... black. The slave. Him Irish. The hireling.
      Google up the second stanza of the American anthem. Its author was who racism was created to benefit. It wasn't me...a black. Or Brian... A white. Specifically. A poor Irish Mick.

      @David Guez White Americans can figure out their European lineage very easily by looking a few generations back. Our ancestors were all stolen and forced to be here, so we've lost track of a lot of our ancestral roots. "Black," exists because "Black," people share experiences with each other in America. White Americans share nothing but their skin color and a history of racially charged oppressiveness. We acknowledge each other as "brother," and "sister," because we're all in this together and being a family is the best way to be sure we get through it.

    • @Afromortis2
      @Afromortis2 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @David Guez How did you misquote me three times? Also, we're talking about AMERICAN slavery, AMERICAN oppression, and AMERICAN racism. Poor white Americans were not oppressed because they were WHITE, they were oppressed because they were POOR.
      African American slaves were slaves because they were BLACK, and yes they were sold by "other Africans," but it wasn't out of betrayal. They were sold as prisoners of war because the tribes weren't exactly friendly with one another.
      When we discuss Black Americans, we are discussing 400 years of systemic oppression that has almost exclusively, and disproportionately affected Black and Brown people and communities.

    • @Afromortis2
      @Afromortis2 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @David Guez No one thinks ALL white people were slave owners, but ALL white people are immune to the repercussions of slavery, and have benefitted from a system that gave us super-power status. They have benefitted in that white men are never considered savages, or beasts, or animals, or anything less than human.
      They are considered full fledged humans without a second thought, while Black people don't get that same luxury, even the wealthiest and most affluent among us being subject to racist violence and discrimination that white people don't at all experience as a result of their race.

Now, these people are paid thousands to tell others they are inherently racist for being white, regardless of their own beliefs or prejudices, or lack thereof. If racism is based off power as well as race, and power comes from institutions, then wouldn't the term "institutional racism" be labeled a redundancy and fallen out of use as a term or never coined to begin with.
    This isn't a strong point or anything, but just goes to show the mental gymnastics people sometimes go through.

You are going to get offended by 1 single word just because you look different and my that my ancestors weren't Africans. "some can say it and others cannot" You can say anything regardless of race. Just so happens, the people that took a once prideful word and twisted it into what it means were white people. Blacks don't wanna be reminded of it by someone who looks like the once oppressors, so don't say it. Blacks say it so if a white person says it to try and make them feel bad, it won't sting as much. They probably would be if they could be...NOW...but never was race the basis for any shit we did. Same with you guys. Ask a white Christian back in the day if his skin color mattered to a Viking. Ask the Brit Maewyn Succat if his skin color mattered to the Irish who enslaved him a few decades before he escaped and came back with a religion they would also use to divide themselves with. Ask Napoleon if he hated on Windsor because he was white. Rosevelt, Churchill, Hitler , Mussolini....all whites yes? so before you create any straw man by claiming that I'm saying that black people haven't been evil things or are not capable of evil things, or create any straw man fallacies by telling me b******* like blacks enslaved blacks; so let's deal with the issue at hand. I’m raising awareness to all my brothers and sisters about racial segregation and has become my quest to end this systemic racism we’re in on this earth. We shouldn’t be refereed to by labels; black, white, brown. This is called Racial Prejudice. We do not call someone that looks Asian; yellow. Or someone who’s from Mexico or Puerto Rico; browns. Yet people that look causation are often referred to as white, which has become the norm for Caucasian’s as well as for Africans that are being called black. This is what keeps racial segregation alive in this world, and I’ve had enough of this! It’s time to wake up! Listen to how some news station refers to Asians or any other ethnicity by their ethnicity or nationality, then listen to how they refer to Africans or African Americans. You’ll start to notice how it all starts in the media, and will be hard to correct if you don’t start making changes within your surroundings. Learn to identifying someone by their biological ethnicity or nationality. Now, before I continue, I’d like for you to take what I’m about to say with a grain of salt. Saying the N word within our African community isn’t ok nor people who don’t have African descent. This N word, and the label black, was given to African slaves back in the 1800’s and is still being used today. Calling each other the n word within Africans and calling each other blacks is what’s keeping us segregated within humans. And if you think the word “niggah” isn’t the same as “nigger” just because it’s spelled differently, well, it is. Just as some like to spell “ask” as “ax”. We do not need to justify or make excuses and allow this N word to live on within Africans that was given to us by white supremacist. And although we are no longer slaves physically, mentally is what keeps us slaves in our minds when using these labels. Teaching our children to identify a person based on their attributes, ethnicity, or biological background, and nationality instead of color, you will slowly end racism and break this systemic racism we’re leaving our children today.

      Hi, as someone who hails from the part of the world from which the term “Caucasian” was stolen and has been CONSTANTLY misappropriated by Americans, black and white and more, just letting you know that referring to whites as “Caucasian” is not only a slap in the face to the Indigenous people of the Caucasus-Google “Kavkaz people,” specific ethnic groups include “Azeri,” Circassian,” “Chechen,” “Dagestani,” “Georgian,” and more-but it also upholds white supremacy, for the use of “Caucasian” to refer to Western Europeans/ “the white race,” has horrifying white supremacist origin-Google “Blumenbach” to find out more about the German man who took the skulls of Indigenous Caucasians and decided to name the “”white race”” after these people because he found their skulls to be most “good looking“ or some creepy shii like that, hereby stealing their name from them to be used by Westerners for centuries until now.
      Folks can say Western / European instead of “Caucasian” which belongs to Kavkaz people :)
      Also your comment is incredibly intelligent, I agree with you wholeheartedly!!! I think reducing humans to “white/black/brown/yellow/red” is disgusting and a practice that must be left in the 18th century, unfortunately, I don’t think American / Western society will ever get out of that mentality, it’s too engrained in them.
