Same. I also only needed to disconnect one fuel line. Even though I disconnected the relay and turned the ignition several times, fuel still sprayed out when I separated the fuel pressure regulator. I believe mine was clogged because the vehicle sat for 3 years without being started, and that's why it was difficult to release all the pressure from the fuel line. Also, the fuel pressure regulator I purchased already had an O ring inside it. It still came with an extra O ring that I use where the short line connects to the disconnect. It didn't have one, but it fit really well and the truck runs great now.
I also replaced the regulator along with the gaskets after getting a misfire/rich condition. After the repair, fuel trims slowly returned to normal. Runs smooth again. Now has 291K miles, orig owner. Next, I need to change trans fluid/filter and add a conditioner.

What was it doing before you did this? what were the symptoms and problems that it fixed? would the car not run at all? ive worked on my trailblazer thruout the years and i cant seem to get it to act right. my next thing to try is replacing the intake manifold gasket. gonna clean fuel injectors while im in there. was looking for something else i should do while im in there
The fuel line does not need to be disconnected. Only the two screws have to be undone and the regulator pulls away from the top of the fuel line, I almost made this mistake until I read the repair manual
Just replaced mine due to the fact that it was seaping gas on occasion. Not consistant but I could smell gas and a quick under hood inspection revealed some slight wetness at the regulator. I only let that go for about a year before I jumpped right on it 😅
Did more than you needed to..I didn't unplug my fuel pump or take off any thing..only the 2 T30 bolts and used a standard Alan wrench cause I couldn't find a T30..took me about 15 minutes .and that was 2 years ago..never leaked and was a used pressure regulator with used o rngs
I wondered if fuel trims improved and truck ran better after? If so, that would be a good case study for chasing down a rich bank one code. Was the money light on? Failblazers forever!
My 2002 is worth more to me than a new 2024 Chevy trailblazer. I will replace the engine and transmission when it’s time. I want to keep mine for a very long time. I love it too much
I got an 05 envoy and it now probably needs a 3rd fuel pump in only 2 years of ownership!! With only 217000 miles that's what brought me here .,so my question for you my friend is how did you diagnose the regulator to be bad? I'm willing to try it after I check volts to the pump and some other silly things that could be wrong ,please any help is good help
One way to tell is to unplug the vacuum hose off of the end of it. If gas comes out, the diaphragm is bad. Or you need to hook a fuel pressure gauge to the system and see if you have a steady or sudden drop in fuel pressure. I have a video on my channel where I diagnosed a bad FPR on my Camaro if you want to check that out.
Hey buddy, how was driving along my truck just turned off will not start back up. I figured it was a fuel pump change the fuel pump that it was a bad fuel pump so I changed it again change fuel filter change the regulator change the spark plugs it wants to start, but it won’t start. You know that could possibly be.
You know this job was done properly when you lost your wrench in the engine bay forever.. this week I lost a small set of channel locks in my Pontiac and a couple of screws inside the engine bay of the GMC lol
It’s not throwing any codes for the map sensor but if it’s cheap enough on eBay I replaced it I replaced the crank sensor it’s not throwing that code anymore and also I’m going to change out the oil pressure switch unit when I change the oil I completed and in frame rebuild on the motor but a lot of the sensors I didn’t replace Little bit of a hard lesson to learn I made the same mistake on a 2012 Chevy Cruz 1.8 I just put together didn’t change out everything it was drawing a bunch of codes but I got it all figured out now. sometimes you just can’t be cheap
Hey, on my 2003 Chevy trailblazer I have a little bit of a hesitation when starting up a vehicle I went through the entire airbox intake manifold and I don’t have any leaks, so do you think it’s the fuel pressure regulator going bad?
Could be the crank sensor or the MAP sensor I would start with the crank but if it's not throwing a code don't waste your money homie Also do you turn the key over right away or do you turn the key to on and wait for the fuel pump to prime b4 starting?
Should have tested it by applying dome vacuum!. The green O ring if you look at it has a cut in it !. Just saying be creative and solve the prob and why it happened, then change the part .. just saying.

I just did this job on an Envoy XUV. Didn't remove anything except the two torx screws on the regulator itself. No problem at all.

It did run better and the check wallet light was on, but likely for a variety of other reasons. 😂
This is one part I didn't have to replace on my Fail-Blazer 😅. Now I've got to go find another one so I can fix it 😅

How many miles does the atlas have on it?
It tapped out at roughly 220k I think. It conked out on us last year.

You don’t need to remove any of that just use extension pull out regulator screws socket t30 and replace
