      it looks like it was converted to gcode using a library you can get from the download section of dasyn.com

      @@beanieteamie7435 that's what not what I meant. THE MODEL is just a normal sphere. The way it's printed like this has nothing to do with the model. You can use ANY sphere model and get the same result if you slice it right, etc.

    That question might sounds stupid for those accustomed to 3d printing, but why use that technique instead of using flat layers for printing a sphere?

      I don't think there's a difference when printing a sphere but some other forms will have a better surface finishing.

    What are the pros of this slicing technique? Can "normal" printers do it?

      non planar printing, any printer can do it with gcode, but the delta design is maybe better suited for vertical movements, regular lead screw design might come under too much stress during such printing.

    Curious as to weather this is purely a slicer trick that can work with any kind of FDM printing method or is there special hardware/ setup to make use of such technique. I'm surprised this kind of slicing technique is not more often used as I can imagine the printer could achieve a superior surface quality at very shallow angles where stepping would usually be noticeable.

      it looks like one continuous extrusion, but I'd guess at least 2cm at the widest point

      @@TheAechBomb im talking about the height of the thin piece of extruded plastic. Because this thing moves vertically while printing im assuming there has to be some variation in height as the nozzles gets comes near and pulls away from the print

      @@theshuman100 I guess he made a spider sized first level. That will trap on the plate very tight. Well that’s guess because I have this idea, but I can’t write programs to make this😂. And I cannot change the g code either.

      @@theshuman100 I mean, it's constantly keeping the same distance to the print itself. It keeps printing wherever it goes, so the distance shouldn't change at all, except maybe a little when it goes uphill like that...

      Looks like high temp silicone and is most likely acting as a heat sock to keep the filament thermally stable. Just a guess though.

      @@nikolaivillitz6026 probably I was mostly wondering why there is so much of it. My two printers both have socks that are only a few mm thick and they work fine.

      @@peechez9597 Yeah, this is really unconventional and honestly looks stupid. It was 3 years ago, but you could have "normal" silicone socks then so I'm not sure why they did this. Seems like it isn't acting as a sock, though, since it doesn't go around the nozzle. It might be there to help it keep its temperature, perhaps the heat block isn't very good or something.

      On the contrary, this is perfect. Most videos seem like they made more effort to come up with the damn soundtrack than the content. This was refreshing.
