    You need to select HLG to Rec 709 in the HDR tools for correct tone mapping to SDR

    Excellent! Finally, someone who gets right to the point. Easy to understand and your tutorials worked perfectly! Of course I liked & subscribed!

    Thank you. I finally understand HDR. I use my iPhone as 2nd or 3rd camera on shoots with Canon R5 and Sony FS5. It seems like I should disable HDR for easier workflow, better intercutting? I liked and subscribed!

    Shoot video in HDR in order to then reduce the video quality to SDR, how nice of FCPX. Even the editing program Cup Cut does an excellent job with HDR

    Im in final cut 10.6.3 and for some reason I dont have the HDR tools effect. Any suggestions?

    • @jordangraphy
      @jordangraphy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hum, this is odd. I’m also using the 10.6.3 version and I can find the HDR tools effect in my Effect Library.
      Have you, perhaps, mistaken the Effect tab and the Transition tab? They’re right next to each other in the lower eight hand corner (it happens to me sometimes 😅).
      Otherwise, I’m not really sure what’s the problem…
      You might want to try to uninstall and reinstall FCPX?
      Hope this helps!

      Well, welcome! It has nothing to do with the laptop you use, Final Cut Pro works on every Apple laptops.
      Most of the time you won’t have to adjust colors and exposure but in some situations you might need to slightly do so.
      Hope that helps 😉

    What about titles and transitions? Mine are grey and the only way to solve is to improve the brightness. Unfortunately this solution is not applicable every time; for example on more structured titles or on the transitions it doesn’t works.

    • @jordangraphy
      @jordangraphy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      For titles, you need to : select the title go to your inspector tab to the right, go to the color correction tab and bring up the master exposure. When it comes to transitions, it just doesn't work. I've done some research about it and I couldn't find any solution, I know there are a lot of people have issues with transitions unfortunately! Hope this helps.

      @@jordangraphy thanks. I’ve done this on title when it’s possible but with very structured titles like lenofx it’s not a solution. I’m trying to modify in motion and something works well.

      @@jordangraphy basically it's not a solution. I've got more than 3000 effects, it's crazy to think to change one by one. On top of this, I don't understand if it's possible no-one has mine same problem. On the web I don't find anything. It seems like I'm the only one to work in HDR with an iPhone and the only one who are trying to put some effects. I'm trying to contact LenoFX also to have a support but they don't answer to my mail.

    the definition of HDR video is completely different from HDR imagine. What you have described is for the HDR photo I believe, not HDR video...

    • @jordangraphy
      @jordangraphy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wether in photo or video, the HDR function/mode consists in capturing different exposures and mixing them together in order for your images (photos or video) to have the most information as possible.

    • @Janken_Pro
      @Janken_Pro 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jordangraphy sorry but that's plain wrong. HDR images capture multiple exposures. HDR video on the other hand uses a single exposure like normal SDR video, it just uses wide color gamuts, different gamma and high luminance values for a more realistic rendition.
      With HDR you can display the wide dynamic range (12-17 stops) of your sensor. In SDR it gets compressed into 5-7 stops of dynamic range. HDR has 12-15 stops of dynamic range.

  • @NYCHeckler
    @NYCHeckler ปีที่แล้ว +1

    How do you take the time to make this video to show how to fix it and show the simplest things in detail everyone knows with the hdr tools yet you fast forward the color correction which would be the most important item of this video? You’re doing the color corrections needed, why would you not show us that and explain? you literally fast forward through the one part everyone needs.

    • @jordangraphy
      @jordangraphy  ปีที่แล้ว

      Because everyone’s clips will be different and this video is focused on HDR, not color correction.
      Once the HDR tool is applied, you only need to re adjust your exposure.
      I do have a video specifically dedicated to that if you want to have a look and learn how to correct your exposure in Final Cut Pro.

    • @NYCHeckler
      @NYCHeckler ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jordangraphy why are my colors and brightness not remotely what they are after I use the hdr tools? It improves the washout but it’s still kind of gray and dark.

  • @JM_2019

    • @jordangraphy
      @jordangraphy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Then I’d try to play around with the color correction (bringing down the highlights as much as possible).
      Otherwise, I wouldn’t recommend shooting in HDR if you are planning to edit the footage in Final Cut Pro.
      Hope this helps ✌🏻

    • @willtindall2283
      @willtindall2283 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can use the HDR Tools effect and then select the HLG to Rec. 709 SDR in the video inspector and use an adjustment layer in Final Cut Pro if you have multiple clips. Hopefully that helps. That’s what I recommend

      The best solution is to NOT record in HDR if you want to edit the footage afterwards haha

  • @AurelianIrimia
    @AurelianIrimia ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Misinformation! You have to use HLG to REC 709 and not HDR to REC 709. And use proxy in 2023???!!! I’m using an MacBook Pro with M1 Pro and I have no issues editing 4K 60fps HDR 10bit 4.0.2 200mbps, or 400mbps all intra, or 6k…
