This shows the mundane in a brilliant light, her patience to the absurd, her ability to twist imagination with reality to be at peace in the face of endless boredom.
Someone was dry blowing their hair when I watched this, so it was more like a silent movie. But, having worked in a government office before I can confirm that the depiction of the lady at the desk, or rather her approach to work, is a very accurate depiction. Thumbs up.
Ah, the kid was just having fun, this is about bureaucracy, you know that joyless lifeless overly serious creation of an adult world devoid of any creativity heart or understanding of how fucking live. Hence why what the child did is so perfect in this setting. Maybe the shit we do as grown ups really isn't as serious as we think
I know exactly how the song progresses, and have no idea what's actually going on in the music video, and still, somehow, the countdown kept me on the edge of my seat
Great band. Can’t wait to see your guys sometime in the future. Absolutely love O Monolith. I’ve listened to it 6 times today painting my daughter’s bedroom😂
I'm from Argentina but I discovered squid through a youtube channel about rock and here I am discovering songs like cleaner, narrator and blade. and I love it!!! ❤
Me too, and I'm 65. I can't remember the last time I was forced to sit up right and taken on an incredible journey. Phenomenal. I'm seeing them in October in Birmingham, on my own, because a lot of my mates have given up on life. 😊
where do u situate it? to me it's really in the way they structure instruments/rhythmical sections and use voice which define their style, probably re-defining Byrne's interpretation of music.
@@melodiessouterraineslate-n5311 Yeah, I totally agree... also Ollie's vocal delivery really does evoke David Byrne as well - tho in particular I find the electronic noises at 0:58 are reminiscent of the effects used in songs in Remain in Light like Listening Wind or Born Under Punches
@@Rukimix Yeah, there's a definite King of Limbs / HTTT vibe to the whole song too, especially the guitars (2+2 = 5 comes to mind)... The electronic drums right at the start are very Radiohead too
This will sound like an odd thing to praise but compared to some other post-punk acts like Black Country New Road or Black Midi what is most interesting is how much Squid sounds like a rock band underneath all the artistyness. Like the first two bands too but its nice to find a way to break the mold without becoming getting close to being Baroque pop or Jazz Rock.
IMO ya'll deserve to be quite a bit more popular for how consistently your tunes hit, like not naming any names but there's other bands in your lane who are way less consistent but receive way more buzz. Regardless, this tune goes in.
weird seeing Charlotte Ritchie in one of the best modern British comedies and then with one of the best modem British bands
vince gilligan moment (hiring comedians to serious acting roles)
Hits just right for one of those 7/8 time signature type of nights ✊😔
As a die hard gizz fan that's almost every night. can't wait for this album!
Squid once again releasing the best song you've ever heard
Yesssss. I CANT WAIT FOR O MONOLITH
I'm deaf, but it's pretty good

also how kids can be invitations to the void
Reminds me of pre-smartphone days. Now you can have fun anywhere. Weird how boredom has turned into nostalgia.
the background horns/whatever around 3:45 are fucking incredible. squid does it again
This music video feels like an anxiety dream
New Squid is such a blessing
Someone was dry blowing their hair when I watched this, so it was more like a silent movie. But, having worked in a government office before I can confirm that the depiction of the lady at the desk, or rather her approach to work, is a very accurate depiction. Thumbs up.
Squid out here teaching us about the infinite annoyances a kid will cause you
You were once that kid and your annoyances turned you into who you are today ❤

This is one of those songs you have to listen to more than once
Yeah, happened to me with every track on this new album. At first they were meh, by the third listen my mind was blown.
Like 20 times a day you are saying? 😅
ngl i thought the office person was gonna get off work right as it got to her number to complete the full kafkaesque bureaucratic nightmare
the track is incredible btw
I know exactly how the song progresses, and have no idea what's actually going on in the music video, and still, somehow, the countdown kept me on the edge of my seat

Squid are just making some beutiful magic. It is absolutely invredible what they create, love them to death😢😢
I always listened to this when I first explored “the depths” in TOTK.
Squid....Best English band since Radiohead.
Yep,couldn't agree more.
They're magnificent 👌
All I can say is, thank you Squid and blessings be upon you.
This music video is better than most films

This band makes my cat mosh and my dog stick to the ceiling
This band just get better and better...
Yay, another track that will be on repeat until the next release. Always 💯. Always Squid.
I'm 52 and not inspired easily by new music but this song/vid are both very surprising! I'll be listening to more of this.

I honestly have a kind of mini existential break down every time I watch this, and I'm okay with that.
A blade cuts deep and leaves a need for healing. Spiritual blades cut through the heart and mind of a focused person.
Never thought I'd see my favorite show Ghosts cross with Squid 😂
