Thank you for your video and your children are so niceee... i love your voice and the atmosphere of your video bc it’s calm and relax I think is the best video of TH-cam(sorry for my wrong but im French not American or english
This has been so Outstanding... thank you so much for sharing. I’m so frustrated with my camera set up. I bought a Nikon DSLR For learning photography and forgetting better photography but I make a lot of videos and it is rubbish at it. I’m also in a situation where I feel a lot around impatient family and I’ve been looking for a point and shoot camera that would get me the sort of quality I want I would let me practice my photography skills at the same time.... I shall get this upon your recommendation
Pro tip from 2023, buy this if you got RTX 3000 GPU video card for editing, the AI upscaling makes the 250fps looks like near 4K now :D Exciting times we live. This is now my work horse on slow motion parts of professional shootings :D
Really good explanations about the camera. Most of the other youtubers didnt mention the battery life which I have been always looking for what a user will say about that and I finally find your video! Thank you! Also, you seem don't complain about the auto focus but most of the users complain about it. Can you satisfied with the auto focus of M4?
I don't really have a problem with the cameras autofocus and will often toggle it to manual to lock focus. It can sometimes be slow to focus but so can my Canon g7x. Cheers
Another one right out of the park Grant. Adding this to the live show next week. Curious- How do you manage that color correcting in post? Those look incredible! Cheers
+MKme Lab Thanks. To be honest I'm don't do much colour correcting and actually haven't graded any of the RX100 shots in that video. I'm a bit old school and always try to shoot it as well as I can in-camera to minimise post production time. Cheers
@@GrantJohnstonVideos How is the continuous AF on moving subject while video recording? have you made own comparison with Canon Dual Pixel AF? wondering when subject move around the camera lost it's focus and blurring and takes couple second to get back on track.
Hi, great video, thanks! I own this camera, so far I've only used it for pictures, but I'll be attending a skating show next week, and I want to take the opportunity to try it out for filming. Which settings would you recommend? I am especially worried that the light beams focusing on the skaters are going to make it difficult to obtain a video that isn't limited to showing white dots moving over the ice surface...
+MissFawlty My advice would be to practise locking exposure and focus and that way you should be able to get a consistent (and good) video image. Have a look at my other video on the setting up the rx100 to shoot video.
I heard the camera can't be used by vloggers because it has severe overheat issue. Especially, in 4K and S-log mode? Whats your experience with that? Thanks.
Thanks for the reply.I watched your video "Canon G7X vs Sony RX100 for Shooting Video". I'm still unsure I like the Sony creative capacity (S-log, slow-mo,4K,picture styles) However, I worry about its image stablization which doesnt seem so good and its video autofocus (some other youtubers are lamenting about this) ....Can you tell me a vlog you did with the RX100iv ?
They are both excellent small cameras. You can turn the image stabilisation up to max on the rx100 which works well but crops in a bit so its not as wide. Here's a link to a short vlog shot on the rx100 in slog2 th-cam.com/video/Yj_hwQuX2N0/w-d-xo.html
Thanks Grant, At this stage, I'm decided to go with a RX100IV. I really like your channel, it helped me a lot to make my opinion on which camera to choose. I also like your editing style on your vlog, you must be good at keeping track of your footages. Once, I was in southern spain then immediately followed by a trip to Phuket, thailand. In my video about Phuket, I used the sunset footage from Spain. I got all mixed up hehehe but ok I deleted the video;)
Ha - yes footage definitely mounts up, I find the sooner you can edit or edit on the go the better as my file management is not best and the footage gets mixed up sometimes or worse leave out good stuff I forgot I had shot!
Thank you for sharing. I also have the same camera but I can’t find a way to transfer a short video to my ipnone7. Where you go in the menu to transfer?
Grant, I have a question. At 3:11, is it a graded footage? Or you are using another picture style from the other test footage? The colours really seen to be different.
+TF2 Sky Hi - Graded is a term usually referring to editing the look or colours of your video footage when doing post production in your edit suite. Cheers

This camera is incredible!
Great review! Love the comparisons. I've been looking for a good straight-out-of-cam profile to shoot with and I've found it. Keep up the good work.

awesome idea with the wind filter! thanks for that!
Great video! Labeling the test footage is a great help. I'm looking forward to your tips for setting up the camera for video. Keep up the good work.
+Harold Myers Cheers
The deal breaker for sony vs canon is the high quality built-in viewfinder on the sony!.
Very well done. Excellent information. Thank you.
Is it me or does 2:49 Portrait Picture Style look a little better and more natural than 2:57 Slog2 Graded?
Nice Video! I like seeing Kiwis on youtube!
Great video, love the quality of the footage!!!
thanks your information ...

Super video. One question: the Sony a7S has 1000 fps as well? cuz i dont think it has..
really nice video and nice kids! thanks for the upload!
thank you
hello,
please how can i record 120 fps on sony rx100 m4 ?

I also want to ask that does M4 overheat after a certain time of video shooting? Thank you for replying!
+Shinagawa Daichi I've never had a problem with it
what a pocket sized miracle. Makes me want to sell all my dslr gear :D
great video! Tanks!!

+Grant Johnston Thank you very much indeed!!!
Great video, do you think the slow mo capabilities of the Rx could capture a bullet leaving the barrel of a gun?
Cheers.
+Eye In The Sky I doubt it, I think you would need higher frame rates again.
I heard the camera can't be used by vloggers because it has severe overheat issue. Especially, in 4K and S-log mode? Whats your experience with that? Thanks.
I've used it for vlogging with no issues but don't use it in 4k as my workflow is on 1080 HD. Its a great wee camera.

what about sound and ext. mic
Can this camera zoom while recording in slow motion?
Thank you for sharing. I also have the same camera but I can’t find a way to transfer a short video to my ipnone7. Where you go in the menu to transfer?
Which do you prefer? This or the G7x?
+ThatChristianVlogger I'm just putting together a video on that now and I'll let you know my thoughts in that video. Cheers
Grant, I have a question. At 3:11, is it a graded footage? Or you are using another picture style from the other test footage? The colours really seen to be different.
The shot of us eating ice cream was straight out of the camera (portrait picture style).
+Grant Johnston Thank you very much!
have you tested out the Panasonic DMC-ZS100?
No I haven't laid my hands on one of those
I'm new to filming sorry is graded like a filter or an effect? What's graded mean?
+TF2 Sky Hi - Graded is a term usually referring to editing the look or colours of your video footage when doing post production in your edit suite. Cheers
can it shoot 1080p 60fps?
YEESSSSS😎
great video! subscribed :)
What slider do you use? Is the footage at 2:46 color graded?
Syrp magic carpet and only graded where it says it is on slog shot.
Grant Johnston cool thanks
really nice video and nice kids! thanks :-D
