Excellent tutorial, Shirley! Love the faux ceramic look, as well as the nifty tricks you showed to finish the project nicely (gold edging and back, cool bail). You're a fantastic teacher! Thanks so much for sharing your talents.
Love this idea I like the antique porcelain pins very much. My mother has a couple from my grandmother which will be mine someday. This would be great for a broken porcelain look with odd shapes cut out. Thank you for doing this video
I was just given an early Christmas presant by my lovely hubby last night, a pasta maker. So good to know I'll be able to use all those brass stencils I collected with my new hobby. Great tutorial and love the pendant, TFS blessings
Great technique, Shirley! I never see those metal stencils sold anymore. I do have one from ages ago but don't have the Pasta machine and it looks like I am going to need one for this. Thanks for sharing and I look forward to your next tutorial.
Oh WOW!! I haven't started my clay making Figurines.. Yet watching you..I see what BEAUTIFUL Items you create.. I'm going back through and watch more tutorials you have made!! Im waiting fkr some .ore tools ..THANKS FOR TEACHING ME/ US!!😊
I noticed that you are using water as a release agent ,but there was a little bit of sticking , Have you tried dusting the clay with corn starch or a white pearl ex powder before you apply the stencil . They both stop the clinging. With the pearl ex wait an hour after you remove the stencil and the clay will absrode the metallic gloss and be ready for the chalk .the corn starch can be easily dusted off after you run it through and leaves no gloss . then you can add the chalk
Thank you so much for this brilliant tutorlal - I'm going to look for some brass stencils right now! I was wondering if I could use one of those plastic stencils sold by createalong.com??
I believe I bought it at Michael's. I found it on Amazon as well, search for "Speedball Mona Lisa 2-Ounce Metal Leaf Adhesive Size" says $6 for the bottle and FREE shipping!
Floor wax? On clay? No, I haven't tried that, Is that what you use? I have tried several clear gloss sprays, liquid polymer clay, mod podge....all end up sticky!
I don't glaze a lot of things but when I do I used Future floor way, it's polymer based and works great with polymer clay. You can also glaze your item and bake the floor wax on for a little different look. Let us know how it works out for you. One bottle will last a long time too!
UKMumfromthepool yes. future floor wax is terrific for a glossy finish. Use a brush and apply small amounts at a time. I've never baked the piece after applying Future, so I can't advise on that.
You can find Premo! Sculpey polymer clay cubes, the floral brass stencil used and two different size sets of soft pastel chalks on my Spumoni website listed in the video description above.
Thanks for watching! Yes, you can. You will just have to make sure that the glaze doesn't get on the bottom side of the pendant before doing so. Sometimes the glaze will migrate and overflow beyond the pendant edge, and when you catch the drips with a craft stick, it's almost impossible not to get glaze underneath the clay piece.
honestly.....this is the first TH-cam instructional video I didn't have to fast forward...it was great from start to finish. I've subscribed!!
Excellent tutorial, Shirley! Love the faux ceramic look, as well as the nifty tricks you showed to finish the project nicely (gold edging and back, cool bail). You're a fantastic teacher! Thanks so much for sharing your talents.
Shirley, I love your ideas. I learned things I have not before. Please make more videos with the techniques you have. Wonderful video.

Have you used plastic embossing folders or stencils and do they work similarly?
Wow! So pretty ! Thank you!

This is a favorite tutorial. And Shirley, you have beautiful hands!
Instead of using the adhesive pen could we use Bake & Bond?
Great tutorial. I am definitely going to do this one!

I always wonder does polymer feel like ceramic or plastic? And also that is so pretty ,I would love to make that.🤗💖
Very fun! I can't wait to try!
Very professional looking. Thanks.
New subbie here. I think that idea to use the metal stencil on clay is brilliant!!! Tfs. Diana
create557 Thanks!
This is really beautiful, thanks :)
This might sound silly but wouldnt it be easier to put the two part resin on before you put the bail?
Thank you, it's a great tutorial.
Love this thank you!!!
Love, love, love it! ☺
Where can I get stencils like the one you used in this video?
Try Burger King they have some lovely stencils
Lovely technique - tfs 😄
+Linda Friend Thanks Linda!
Thanks for tips!!
What is the best high gloss glaze for polymer clay bracelets or bangles......
Varathane is probably the best. I like the look of resin and recently been playing with Triple Thick which is great stuff and not too messy.
Using the brass plate through your pasta machine doesn't mark up your rollers? I love the tutorial though, thank you :)
What glaze do you use, please? all the gloss finishes I have tried end up making the item sticky...it is HOT in Florida!
I live in Florida too! I like Future floor wax, have you tried that yet?

I have a bunch of mica powder. Can you use that instead of chalk?
I imagine it will, but I will have to try that!
Lovely! TFS
Can you tell me how is called the glaze that I can not see it.
Thank you
