- You can now buy a selection of decks in the store directly for gems, but should you? Are these decks worth the gems they're offered for? Here's a few things you should take into consideration and my overall thoughts on them.

Paying 200 gems for packs is a better option if you're farming for the collection, but I don't want to get 40 "useless" rares. I only need specific top-tier cards. I already have 90-95% of the cards from the decks, so buying packs is still an easy choice for me. It's easier to farm gems than wildcards, and the ability to buy rare cards I need is great. I can always use my wildcards for future cards.
For people like me who already have 146 decks saved (vs the 100 deck limit 😂 ) then crafting down to the 10 gem level then paying the 10 gems means I can add one more lovely slot to the collection.
It’s very annoying that other sets don’t seem to count if they used Mixed up art (because the deck builder did it in the event) but it does make the above trick more likely to work if you wanted the slots
My choice - Dimir Demons - needs two or three Blasphemous Edict and then it just melts through the BO1 meta (cut 1 duress and one GftThroat) the low percentage is that any good player is tweaking this deck, and the less good (ahem) are just playing it unchanged with their fingers crossed
(The win rate stats also show how many people are playing the vanilla lists via the games played and those are pretty low for the more exciting but easily tweaked decks)
Is there an active discord for mtg arena?
Everytime i saw those decks on shop I wonder If it is worth to buy or craft the deck at all.
As a beginner I waited and hoped you ll make a video of this.
And I am glad you did.
I'd like to add my 2 cents here. A lot of your videos focus strictly on how much value you get for the gems (i.e. how many rares and/or mythics you can get for the same amount of gems). While this is great for players who want to homebrew + maximize their resources + focus on building a collection, it doesnt apply to a segment of the audience who may not care about getting a large collection of mostly meta irrelevant cards.
I started playing arena last month, coming from a whole breadth of other TCGs and CCGs. I routinely hit Master in Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel and Legend in Hearthstone so these types of games are not new to me. I know that I'm the type of player who do not care for homebrews - what I want to get out of Arena is to learn about and play meta relevant decks in the Standard format. I also would not want to just sit around playing a deck I can afford with the new account resources (essentially only mono colored decks) and slowly open packs until i can build a deck I actually want to play. Doing so would actually cost me more money in the long run to get to the same point. These types of packages, while not great in terms of value for your money, are incredibly helpful for players like me who want a no hassle way of getting a top tier deck to climb with. You get exactly what you need without all the fluff.
When i started playing last month, I climbed with Mono-Black Discard because it was the only deck i could afford that seemed interesting. I didnt particularly enjoy the deck all too much as it usually devolved into a top decking war with both players having no cards in hand - granted that youll usually have a Liliana of the Veil on board to push that advantage, but i just didnt enjoy that playstyle as much as I would have thought. I got to Platinum with that deck but started seeing my win rate go down a bit. When these decks were added to the store, I immediately bought the Golgari Midrange deck. It suited my playstyle way more and I was able to get to Mythic with a 70% win rate.
Buying this deck had the added benefit of providing solid Golgari core to work with. Since you now have the mana base, you can rather inexpensively can go into various other directions with the deck using the wildcards you earn.
All that being said, great video for a certain type of player! I appreciate what you do. I'm just hoping that more people see this comment as I think it provides another viewpoint into how other peope play the game.
These decks were constructed for Bo3. Their Bo1 stats are not representative.
@@PaulRGauthier yes I do mention that.
So basically they are trying to massively rip you off

@@LxLore-j5b thanks for sharing some unrelated corporate layoff news on a video about MTG Arena store offers...
@@gameschooldadMTG These cuts are going to continue here into 2025 and beyond, Magic is the only thing that makes Hasbro any Money. Now that we have had 6 years of this Arena staged trash the company is ripe for buy out. ELON
@@gameschooldadMTG See what happens here is WOTC can't have you playing like 1 or 2 decks, they have to have you sinking big Money into building 5-6-7-10 decks to try to run from the Dota 2 MMR specifically designed with hyper aggressive coding to keep those forced loses 45-55% win rate. This becomes painful reality less than 15 hours into ur magic career. Hasbro will continue to layoff, they will continue to suffer. Which I have to say is yummy good for me and Elon... Get mad love you miss you Hasbro XOXOXOXO
@@gameschooldadMTG Today is the day, Arena uninstalled.. Oh it feels so good not to take part in the scam anymore. It's just never gonna change, shame WOTC just didn't make a quality, fair, playable product we could just play. Nope, they got greedy, the share holders always get fucking greedy.. Sad face
Before seeing the video I would say no.
Here we are going into 2025 with a severely broken product as usual. I don't know how many people still play Arena, but I know how many of them know it's hyper rigged. All of them... Hasbro lays more off for Christmas good, the way it should be... 🤭
@@LxLore-j5b many people play arena because they don't have such trust issues.
