Extremely beneficial I inherited a three year old bearded dragon recently and everyone has told me different things. I just want to make sure he has a good life with me and has the diet his Lil tummy requires. Thanks man :)
We believe that gut loading insects is the best and most natural way to provide additional nutrition to your dragon. Top coating bugs is wasteful as most product falls right off of them. We also DO NOT recommend the use of "salad toppers", products that make claims to CURE diseases like MBD, Gout, and other unproven claims. One maker even described their own brand of salad topper as "fairly non toxic". Who wants to feed their beloved pet a product that is "fairly non toxic"? If you MUST use a topping for dragons, we recommend bee pollen in small amounts. Bee pollen can be bought at most grocery and health food stores.
Quick question, I have 5 months old beardy, he’s 30cm and looks fat. Do we have to feed them everyday when theybare adult, cz mine looks really fat, even though didn’t eat that much.
@@nsamin1327 they are docile animals maybe try feeding them just the vegatables daily and the protiens 3 times a week for a month and see if it helps slim him/her down since they dont not get to burn off the nutrients they will gain more weight

Our humidity can get pretty high here sometimes too,. However the air is alot dryer directly under the light where they tend to stay most of the time, so we have never had but one respiratory infection in a dragon and that was several years ago.
Great video.. Here is my question. I've had my first bearded dragon for a year now.. She just went into brumation.. My questions are, should I leave her alone until she wakes up? Should I still switch her uvb and basking spot lights on in the mornings? How long do they sleep for? And what happens to them physiologically when they brumate? And what steps should I take when she wakes up? My girl is in such a deep sleep. I checked up on her just to make sure she is OK.. She did not move, it seems she is in a very deep sleep. I checked that's she's still breathing but I find it fascinating! Would love if you do a detailed video on brumation... Thanks! 👍☺️
U need to bathe him when he wakes and still offer food a few times a week. A beardie a year old or less should never brumate however. Mine never have. I keep good temps and gr8 food. dubias & crickets and the best greens and veggies (Staple ones) dandelions, mustard, collard greens, yellow squash, snap peas, green beans and endives are everyday ones. (2-3 of each mixed in a low plate for him to reach it
Thank u so much I’ve been going through a hard time and was planning to get a baby bearded dragon as my emotional support pet but I do have an insanely busy schedule so sometimes I might only be able to feed him in the mornings but most of the time I might be able to feed him when I get home
Some reason my baby beardy likes to eat like at a restaurant. He takes a bite of salad, then roaches/bsfl, and sometimes goes back n fourth. Some days he'll a few bugs, then a bite of salad. Seemed like I adopted a pre-trained Petco beardy lol
What about juvenile bearded dragons? Do they require more insects than veggies ? Is it normal if they don’t eat as many crickets as most sites say a juvenile bearded dragon should in 10 minutes? Sorry for all the questions. I’m getting a lot of mixed information
Have had our small baby bearded dragon a few weeks now. It doesn’t seem to like eating bugs. It ate a few crickets first week and hasn’t touched them since. It ate a few meal worms but usually doesn’t care about them either. It will eat salads but picks around the meal worms in it. Tried wax worms doesn’t eat them after eating one. He did eat a big hornworm. How many bugs does a small baby eat every day normally?
my baby bearded isn’t eating as much and I heard mealworms hurt the digestive track is that true?? What should I do to help them eat more anything will help !! Thank you
Yeah it is true. Mealworms can be tough to digest due to their tough exoskeletons. However if you have a high enough basking spot, 110-120 for babies and 100-110 for adults they will be able to digest the food. If you dont have the right heat, your beardie will not be able to properly digest the food. I am currently feeding my baby beardie mealworms and he poops just about once a day.
Keep in mind, if your feeding your baby mealworms, make sure it is smaller than the space between his eyes. If it's too big then they can become impacted. This mainly goes for baby beardies, once their adults, they have no problem digesting much of anything.
Our baby dragons have always eaten meal worms from the first week of life. However it is important to feed the small ones. Feeding meal worms too large can be problematic. The goal is no larger than the space between their eyes.
Thank you, thank you!!! I just got my first BD about 3 weeks ago and have been freaking out ever since. I have read so much both before and after I got Kiwi and found tons of conflicting information. Firstly I was feeding him 5 times a day so thanks again 'cause it was a real pain in the ___. Twice a day is just fine by me. But he is a youngster, although about 8" now, so is 2 times sufficient for a juvenile? He eats very well both bugs and salad. But I have also been feeding mealworms which I now discover I shouldn't do. This is so confusing because I don't want to do anything that will harm the little sweetie.
I have been planning on getting a bearded dragon for the first time so I have been doing research. I know in one of your older videos you said that you recommend a 55 gallon. Is it okay to get a 40 gallon? Thank you. Have a great day.
I've got my 3 month old in a 20 gal tall. It's big enough for him FOR NOW. Really the only reason it's sufficient for even a young dragon is because I've given him multiple levels to mess around in. Gonna need a bigger tank soon tho.
I usually have to wake up at 5:00 a.m. to get ready for work so i prep before I leave and I feed it atleast 3 large dubia roaches when i get back around 5pm so I'm glad I'm on the right track. My question is 3 good enough for should I give it more?
How much food and worms should be given to a 6 inch dragon? What about bits of squash? The pet smart sold my daughter in law a kit that contained an assortment of foods. One was a bag of dehydrated veggies and insects. Is that safe to feed even after rehydrating it? The mix has carrots and what looks like squash. I will be able to provide fresh, chemical free dandelions during the growing season. Can I cut up stuff like squash and freeze it? Nobody in either house eats that stuff. Could a mixture of veggies be ground into a paste for Abel to eat? I am looking for cost effective, less waste, while providing the best for his beardie. My grandson is 12 years old and fell in love with reptiles 2 years ago. He started doing research and after 2 years was able to convince his parents to let him have a ball python. When he met his first beardie he said he wanted one and mom got the petsmart 40 gal kit and dragon. This boy has decided to pursue a career in herpetology. I might suggest reptile veterinarian to him. They seem few and far between.
Ok my boy love his veggie he will eat them before anything else !! And I write u on a different video asking about the light and food since my boy dose go out side but thank you guys!!
Okay, how can I get him to eat more? I’ve tried the tricks you mentioned about trying to feed him his vegetables in the morning and his protein with the worms in the afternoon but he doesn’t want to eat. I’ve even tried to give him fruit to see if he likes it.

Hi, thanks for the video. Basically, I am going to work in the morning at 6am and reached home around 7pm every day, so based on your advice, I should place the vegetable in the morning, then feed them insects once I back home. Is that correct?
I had a question! In a book I was reading, it said that they do not recommend mealworms due to them being high and phosphorus and can cause intestinal impacts. Do you have any info about this? I know you guys primarily use mealworms

babies to 4mnths of age feed lots of protein 4-5 times a day small crickets/dubia roaches. They are growing & bones need protein., then as he gets bigger u can do medium crickets, never feed anything bigger than the space betewen his 2 eyes. at 7months or so he can do large criclets and dubia raoches are amazing in protein too. At 6mnths to a year u feed 3times per day (60 crickets or dubias) and 12mnths to 1.5 yrs 2 times a day 30-40 crilcets and after a year and a half once per day 20- 25 large crickets/dubias and u can add super worms at a year and a half. always also do the greens/veggies alwasy start them as babies or he will never eat them as an adult feed him a plate one hour after basking every morning and u can do a fresh one mid afternoon. Make ure u have the Reptisun 10.0 T5 for UVB and the zoomed clear basking bulb for heat. NO colored bulbs ever and no sand in the tank. Use paper towels, newspaper, or whtie teryy cloth towels as the subsrate or smooth shelf liner and place a terry cloth towrl on the cold side so they can poop on it away from food/water of course whcih should also be on the cold side.

@@ColdBloodCreations hey I really need your help (advice) my bearded dragon is 18 months old he will not eat salad ( watercress capsicum grated carrots and peanut squash with salad topper for reptiles I even put mealworms in to entice him he will sit and wait for the meal worms to surface then eat them he’s very clever he will eat a jelly made up which I purchase from a pet store it’s called rasper buffet it’s a jelly food can you give me any advice please thanks
We have our first Beardie, have had her for about 2 weeks. She's a juvenile, 9.5 inches long. We have a 40g vivarium, hides, basking light, proper tube UVB, two digital thermometers, hydrometers and a gun thermometer for her basking spot. All of the readings are within spec. She eats a few bites of salad each day and will eat about five 1/2" crickets 3 times a day. She hangs out on her basking rock, and climbs a bit on the back of her enclosure (faux rock) - take her out and she will climb up and perch on a shoulder and/or snuggle into your neck. Internet searches say she should be eating anywhere between 15 and 40 crickets. three times a day and should be running all over the place instead of wanting to snuggle. Should we be concerned that there is something wrong or is this within the range of normal? Very worried, any advice appreciated!
Hi! Do you have any videos on brumation? How to know its happeing...and they aren't just sick? How do you handle lighting during this time? What age do they start this? How long does it last? Should we still baith them? Will they still eat? This is our first year having one and she seems to be going through this. Vet says she is happy and healthy and it probably is brumation. Thanks!
If you buy in bulk it gets cheaper. Just have a cricket aquarium. They'll also breed if you feed and water them regularly (just have a dirt container kept moist in there). You can order 1000 crickets for under 30$ in the USA and that lasts awhile. And then 3-5 on veggies a week I'd say. Mine like dandelion greens a lot. I also mix cabbage, sometimes carrots, celery and intermittent fruits in there some times. You can shop smart and cut down your costs. Mine aren't big fans of the turnip, mustard or collared greens. Tried em and they mainly just sat. About once a month I offer a piece of tomato and in the summer once a week I'd offer fruit. Cut up watermelon, strawberry, kiwi, blueberry, blackberry, raspberry, all kinds of different stuff. But staple for my household beardies (we have 2) is dandelion and cabbage.
I suppose that given the opportunity dragons would eat mice in the wild. The issue would be if the mouse bit the dragon (if the mouse was live) you could have an injured dragon. Not sure that much protein would be good for an adult dragon, unless only rarely. We do offer F.T. peach fuzzy mice to females post egg laying to put weight back on them and boost their calcium intake.
You do not want to do this often. Liver issues and fatty issues are associated with high protein diets like that of mice. Our beardies eat greens all week and bug protein 3-4 times a week. Our feeders are gut loaded well and our oldest female is 480g and thats her diet.
Google says I should feed my bearded dragon 2 hours after I turn on his heat lamp in the morning, but when I wake up, I have about 50 minutes before I leave for school. Is it OK to feed him as soon as I wake up? Or should I feed him 30 minutes after turning his light on?
Im new to owning beardeds and im having a problem with her humidity. During the day its a normal 35-40% but at night it shoots up to up to 70% sometimes. How can i fix this?

How is your Beardie thus far?
my beardie gets food in the morning in his bowl, and i give him some apple slices throughout the day.
okay so i feed my 5-6-month-old beardie 3x a day is that enough
That end bit 😂😂😂
Got a bit tongue-tied, LOL
Thanks!
As a matter of fact, we do!

Hope this helps! :)
What are some types of vegetables that is ok for Bearded Dragons to eat?
Collard greens, carrots sometimes, mustard greens. Im pretty sure you can feed that to them
But don’t feed them spinach.
I have a question. I want to buy a bearded Dragon but how much would it cost on food alone to feed it
Their main food is crickets which they cost 14 cents each
If you buy in bulk it gets cheaper.
I see people feeding their dragons live mice is that ok
30 min after lights come on is fine.
@@ColdBloodCreations ok thanks
Is butternut squash healthy as a staple? It's the only veggie my bearded baby will eat
Hmmm. I wouldn't feed him only one veggie, or only one insect...
Im new to owning beardeds and im having a problem with her humidity. During the day its a normal 35-40% but at night it shoots up to up to 70% sometimes. How can i fix this?
Throw the humidity doesnt even need it
I'd say about 2 times a day. Veggies first then next meal give buggy bois.
Me that has a dragon who chooses veggies over insects👁👄👁
Thx u I can’t trust google for shit
