@@kdoggisabeastsnow yet they still need to drive it on the street to participate in the event, no? More likely it is because they don't want to put wear on tear on their cars with engines etc running on borrowed time, plan to drive on drag tyres so don't want to have to bring street tyres or wear out their drag tyres on the way to the event, can only run on E85 or some hard to get fuel etc.
