- Chryslers on the Murray is the biggest Chrysler Show in Australia and there were almost a 1000 Chryslers there this year. We dragged Dad's Ute out of the shed to cruise to Albury and check out all the action.
Street Machine Carnage is all about having fun with cars. Sometimes it's serious performance, sometimes it's crazy fun, but it always interesting and done on a budget.

I feel you're still making memories with your Dad. Mine passed two days after this last Christmas. Still hasn't sunk in.
I'm sorry to hear that, mate, and I understand what you mean. It took a while for it to sink in with me as well. My condolences
Massive hug sent your way mate
Sweeeeeeet. As much as i love the million hp builds, a nice simple na v8 makes me very happy.
Gus’s face says it all without having to say a word. The look when it stalled once again 😂
Great Video. Chrysler on the Murray, a nice break from the Workshop. Dads Ute is the ultimate Sleeper. ❤
Brilliant episode Scotty & Gus! Even though I'm a Holden man, I have a soft spot for Aussie Chryslers. My dad's old mate had a string of Chryslers with either 245 or 265 engines. They all ran with the triple sidedraught Weber carburettors & he knew how to tune them so they would run perfect. I wish there were more shows like this across the country. The last one I participated in, the cruise was ruined by cops pulling over cars wanting to put defect notices on them but the cruise was organised in advance & no one was showing off or impeding other traffic. It was a charity run & the establishment decided to ruin the day. It was good that the local Chrysler club helped you out which is what clubs & shows are supposed to be about. My dad's brother drove a '71 Dodge VH utility for years until one of my cousins wrote it off in the early '00's.
I'm glad everyone there enjoyed themselves & it was good to see your dad's ute again. Hopefully you'll go to another show for filming soon as it was great content.
The 318 Fireball is such a cracking sounding motor, mum has one in her CL when I was a baby, used to get driven around laying in my bassinet on that huge front bench seat.
Grass roots stuff. Great to watch and this made me smile. I like normal cars way more than fancy builds.
Valiant VE ute V8 very unique, excellent choice Scotty✌
Nice to see some variety on the channel instead of constantly building drag cars. Nice 1 Scotty
Nice work fellas. Glad you nutted it out in the end
So awesome to see so many old Vals still running and driving, our neighbor back in the 70's had an ex Cop Charger he bought at auction for bugger all, I think he still has it !! :)
I think the car that surprised me the most was the Centura, Stupidly rare to see one of those, let alone in a running state!
It runs 10s
Great stuff gents. How great is that "Quarter Pounder" Dodge!? My god. Period styled perfection.
This has been my favorite project of the channel. I just gave my dad the 77 D100 with a 318 I put together. But hands down this is my favorite project!
OMG Scotty. What are those Fluro tubes sticking out of the shorts you’re wearing. Get some sun on those legs lad lol 😂 Have a great weekend and hope the Val runs well for ya. We luv Gus. SA forever
Love the Val ute, learnt the hard way in the later model 215, as a young 17 year old working in the mines when you sink the boot on a just watered dirt road above a massive open cut mine, they goes sideways very wickley and near pood my pants lol
Copy on the slippery dirt haul road. VE ute love to drift wet round abouts in Paradise city 😅
Excellent episode and good tunes too.
That float was a pretty good pick up Scotty. Looked like an awesome trip.
Cool, nice to see the ute back in circulation and a bit of Carnage in amongst it all. Thanks.
Good one Gus, that was hilarious. I'd love to know what she was thinking...
Great Stuff Scotty and Gus
Another fantastic episode. I used to work with Gus what a character he is !!!
Was a great few days! Just love it there at Cotm. Every year with out fail im there. Looks like the carby issue tested you out 😂
Totally enjoyed that Vid Scotty. Nice road trip to see all those Mopars. 👍👍
Always nice to hear manuals, yes I'm old!
I just love that ute😊 Most Aussie Airport pick up ever?
Love that Ute and i have one of my own a VE Ute with a 360 4 speed manual
Now I wish I went to Chryslers on the Murray
360 and 4-speed would go okay
Seeing all the milk crates with Valiant spare parts triggered me, reminding me when i was working at a certain wrecking yard Sydney in the early 90's
Tough Ve ute Scotty love it!
A couple of Mates, a Aussie Classic and the Open Road, pity no Open Header though 🤣🤣 Great to see you're out and about and enjoying Dad's Ute.
It's loud enough already
Thanks for another great video,Scotty. Holley conversion? Parts everywhere haha
Good weekend out. 👍
Thanks for that chat at the ettamogah pub Scotty, Chryslers on the Murray what an awesome weekend!👍
I had exactly the same thing happen in Bundaberg Dec 1981. My VE only had a single barrel slant 6, and Bundaberg Chrysler had a float on the shelf!
Lucky
When it gets hot, the camo pants come off and the camo shorts go on. Nothing though will stop a pair of Dunlop KT26 unless it's thongs!
What a great turn out
I'm a ford guy but that would have been awesome cheers guys
A great episode Scotty, really enjoyed it. A bugger about the carby, glad you got it sorted. Mopar or Nocar ✌️
Ya can keep those V8s, those triple Webbers are a thing of beauty!!!!!!
They're nice but give me a V8 :)
@@STREETMACHINETV --- I know, I've got three of them, all LS s, but it doesn't take away their beauty. What's the expression "EYE CANDY". Maybe four DOWN DRAFT Webbers on a V8, now that would be a thing of beauty !!!
As a Canadian ford lover those Aussie mopars are great! never seen so many "dodge darts"in my life love those body style for sure. man wish I was there for sure!
Lots of variations on the Dodge Dart theme.
I once paid for a full tank of mostly rusty orange water. Completely blocked all the passages in the carb so cleaning the jets was only a partial fix. Not to mention the internal ball bearings and springs rusting too.
In the end I had to give it to a carb place to get it ultrasonic tanked and flow tested.
It was a huge annoyance! 😆
I put a marine filter with a big sight bowl in after that. 😎✌️
Great episode Scotty
I hope you have a safe trip buddy and nothing goes wrong with it like last time electrical gremlins etc, also the auto is good both ways scotty stay safe mate and have a good one. 👌👌✌✌👍👍🦘🦘
Gidday mate, kapai ehoa.
Nice to see Dads ute out and being enjoyed. Are we going to see any progress Scotty on the lockdown wagon?
Yeah, Hopefully later in the year. Got lots to do before then.
Scotty, hit up Down Under MTPA. They are looking for TH-camrs to come experience a tractor pull. It’s got to be right up your alley, I’d love to see you in the drivers seat of one.
Always ask for help, people Always be happy to help you and you get to meet cool new people!
Yeah, I just had to wait until the show was over, though, because I knew Rod and his crew would be super busy
Glad you didn't scratch the surface of the cars!
Had a VE with three on the tree. Personally I’m a 6 guy but the 8s were ok.
I knew immediately I was going to love this episode. I love Dad’s ute.
Would you consider chatting to the people at Haltech and put injection on it?
I'm sure they would but I think I'd like to keep it carby
@@STREETMACHINETV there are better options that the Edelbrock one. For sheer availability of parts, a Holley would be better wouldn’t it? Not every destination will have someone with Edelbrock parts.
Unless you carry a tackle box full of all the bits! Including spare floats!
In any event, I fcking loved the video! I love Dads ute. Hopefully one day when you’re next in QLD, you might have it with you.
So many beautiful old school cars I wish I was there👍👍
is there a possibility for some new wheels for dads ute in the future Scotty?
Make it look extra minty👌
Hmm maybe. I like the steelies at the moment.
I have gone to plastic floats on my Weber's for that reason. The vibration of a grumpy 4cyl is a thing.
Lol yes just checked it out. Definitely blink and miss situation . Yes not represented like I would imagine. Very tough looking car done right.
You just need Frank Beard in that ute with you and you've got ZZ Top!
I sure I saw you driving the Ute through Drouin bout a month or two ago, she sounded really nice
Sounds about right
I cant believe no one stopped to help in this vid ? Edelbrock do heat insulation spacer that's 8mm thick and its made of a special material (not plastic ) and its great, as i use it under the carby on the blower, no more heat soak
Good vid . U need a Holley !
Nah, it's a good carby for the street
VE,VF,VG.....The best of the Vals, they didnt build any decent valiants after 1970......BTW Scotty ,i have 2 hubcaps for the back wheels of the Val if your looking for some. Need a touch up but theyre the same as your fronts....
Didn't notice any Chrysler by Chrysler coupes.? Remember seeing them in the 80s thinking they were vh model with centerline wheels and at least 400 plus cube engine. Very nice looking valiant.
You weren’t paying attention then. Check out the one at 25:48
I reckon you could park closer to the roller door... ;-)
ZZ Top and a ute.
Aussie version of Thelma and Louise!!
Got to love being hundreds of kilometres away from home & the car decides to throw a tantrum.
It's awesome isn't it.
Bad luck on the dud fuel and the float double whammy Scotty. Great to see the community support getting a replacement carb though. Love the Quarter Pounder and the 60's Newport Coupe, beautiful machines indeed.
I don't think the fuel was actually bad, it must have been the leaky float. It's weird that it's been fine for years and then just develops a sudden leak.
@@STREETMACHINETV I've had it happen in fuel level senders, but never in a carb. I think the plastic must just erode over time and pinhole.
21:40 Hey Scott just a thought but was it flooded??? 😂😂😂
What shit luck with that Edelbrocken, love this style of vid, getting out of the workshop.....I was gonna say the underneath of the bonnet needs a clean, and then I see you gave it ago later on in the vid.
Yeah, gave it a little rub with oven cleaner but need another can to finish it off
The Ute hates the Murray last time it broke down. Pretty sure it was Tocumwal bridge on the Murray😢
Good to see the ute again but what has happened to the lock down wagon
What the hell how on earth did a float level get a pin hole in it, other than maybe from the dirt in the fuel, but its not under that much pressure, mate so good that you fixed it, did you just replace the bowel, maybe flush the complete fuel system out from the tank to the carby. Good on ya Scotty. 👌👌✌✌🦘🦘👍👍
What’s an old car without troubles 🤙
8:16 out on the track where they should be ❤
Jesus Scotty get them legs in the sun. You blinded me 😂😂😅😅
I know, right!
At least you got that fuel filter fitted.
Yeah, should have done it ages ago. Been meaning to but never got around to doing it
👍👍👍
The cut to Gus after seeing that airbrushed PT Loser 😂😂😂😂 hearing ya 😂
Lip reading, I'm pretty sure it was "what the fuck was that!!!!???"
Mopars handle fine Scotty if the chassis rail isn't gone behind the steering box lol.
Hey Scotty I remember you put discs on the front of the ute a couple years back. Is that the original drum master cylinder? Did you add a remote booster?
It's a new master cylinder and I'm not using a booster. The brakes are firm but they work fine.
@@STREETMACHINETV Thanks. Just looking at doing similar on a VE. Cheers
You've still got that 6.4 litre Hemi sitting in the shop, right?
If it wasn't for bad luck, you'd have no luck at all. Give me a no issue trip any day.
A trip with no issues would be cool I guess. I'm not sure I've ever had one though.
You fellas should have done a two piece ZZ Top tribute show whilst you were there, as you certainly look the part. How can you drive that ute with straight brakes (ie no power assist), especially now it is a V8. You truely are a thrillseeker, move over Chuck Connors !
It stops fine
Why O Why did I 'effin sell my V8 Charger all those years ago! 🤬
First off Welcome back Gus, trying to work out what is whiter, your legs or the ute...
What plans do you have for Alex's ute?
Fix the auto and run a 12. Then maybe fix wiring loom.
@STREETMACHINETV well good luck Scotty 👍🏻
3:00 how many turns lock to lock scotty💪 😂
Ahh yes the old armstrong power steering.
Hubcaps is now a special edition coin . Minted by Chrysler and Dodge.😅
Still haven't cleaned the underside of the bonnet, I see... 🤣
Hey waitaminute, at the show it looks like you've cleaned some of the underside of the bonnet!
Yes it does. But I ran out of oven cleaner
Wonder if you can make custom Hemi heads for a 340 six pack?🤔
No real point other than looks, there are very good heads available for the 340.
@@STREETMACHINETV but better flow always means extra power. Crossflow baby!!
220 in Melbourne traffic? Are the thermofans not kicking on?
They are, but I might need to upgrade them.
Great video... I love how you always refer to it as Dads ute... Do yourself a favour though and bin that carby... Edlebrock carbies are garbage... Surly there is a better option out there? I felt sorry for the poor old starter motor.
Actually I like the Edelbrock carries for the street
@STREETMACHINETV Fair call... Either way I think your dads ute is awesome... He would be proud of you.
When I get asked the question...are you a Ford or Holden man? I hold up my hand in a V and say Charger.....my mother said I was conceived in one....just be awesome to complete the story and own one, one day....
Ain't nothing like real cars. Back when things were made to be a piece of art and not throwaway items.
What do you call a mopar owner in Hospital?? FULLY SICK!
Interesting cars the old Chrysler...takes a full fan to really enjoy them, yet somehow, this video has opened my eyes a bit, (yes Holden biased), however Gus has the right choice in where to live..Melbourne is a smoggy disgrace.
Are you still in possession of Mr Dodgy?
No, we sold it
HI ALL BLOODY FLOATS
first thing i said take the floats out not unhurdoff fricken used to happen on my CM changed to a holly I think anyway bugger lol
Little E body challenger? I guess against a dodge ram?
😜👍🇦🇺
Haha Mopar or No Car Maaaaaate. Fukn 18 hrs of Drama to get there. Radiator Alternator etc and No windscreen for 400km back. That was our COTM experience. Loved it 👌
So he changed the story because originally the ute was left to he's son
That true, but Alex will never be able to drive it or even ride in it, unfortunately
@STREETMACHINETV ok that sad 😔
On behalf of NSW, welcome. Please don't laugh at our road regs
I was born in NSW and spent the first 40 years of my life there. I'm well acquainted
Get rid of that carby and put a fuel injection holy
@36:10 I hope she's not going through customs. Smuggling a few kilos of crack is frowned upon by border security.
Things are always fine, until they’re not …
This is true
Whatever happened to the valiant that did the us drag challenge ,the silver one, was that there and is it still going strong? Here's a link to it, you can see its got the WA plates on it.
th-cam.com/video/78t8ivUzt5w/w-d-xo.htmlsi=pZd2QFh2ZCOheNVv
It's still around
@@STREETMACHINETV Thanks for the reply Scotty. ✌✌👍👍🦘🦘
