    Lost and The Leftovers are the only series I've seen that speak to me on a soul level. I can not even explain it. It's magic. Thanks for creating that Damon. Please make a movie!!!!!

    Oh, wow. I didn't know Nora was the main character. Also learned that she has the final line in every season. Taking it all together comes out to be pretty damn beautiful (note that all of these scenes have the same "The Departure" soundtrack played over it).
    Season 1: "Look what I found."
    Season 2: "You're home."
    Season 3: "I'm here."
    I think it's Nora encapsulating the whole series together. She "found" that the Sudden Departure had no answers to it. She had chased all of them and ended up nowhere. Instead, what mattered was being "here" with the loved ones she had left rather than trying to be with the ones she had lost. By the end of the series, Nora has now "found" her own "home" (which is meta since she is ACTUALLY in her own home) with Kevin alongside her. Even though they both fucked up most of their lives chasing the mystery of the Sudden Departure, they are now living "here", in the now, ready to move on.

      "Look what I found" was the end of the book. So all of Seasons 2 and 3 did not happen (including Kevin and Nora's "journeys") and were just "invented" for the TV. Nora was still important but it was not like she was the focal point and that Kevin's love for her was what the series was mostly about.

      Nora's is an amazing character and her journey is beautiful and touching. I can also relate to her immensly. I still wonder tho if she herself believes her own story.

    I love that Mo moderated this, because a large part of my internalization of the show included her very personal piece where she explored her own loss and how she interpreted the show, and it influenced how I watched it. It was in conversation with the text of the show itself, and now Mo is in conversation with Damon, Tom and Mimi.

    The different songs for every episode in season 3 was so well done. Then episode 7 started with the original score 😥

    Damon Lindelof is a genius and without his experience working with ABC on Lost he wouldn’t have made this masterpiece

    It's interesting that the Otis Redding song wasn't their intended first choice because the scene it was used for in season one was during Nora and Kevin's dinner date. I always thought it was an intentional choice and that they knew the sentimental call back to the song. I guess it was a happy accident then?

    first let me say that the leftovers as lost did touched a part of me that is rarely breached
    my soul;.
    i eagerly watched the last episode as excited as i was sad; that the end was nigh =0)
    i cant say i was disappointed; because season 3, episode one;
    had told me Kevin was not a messiah or Jesus.
    i knew this because we see Nora at the end; deny knowing Kevin.
    this tells us there will not be a great flood of biblical proportions.
    so i wasn't disappointed; i would say more hmm?? unfulfilled.
    so i watched it again,
    then again;
    only at the third time of watching did i realize that just as in life;
    there are no complete answers and that life is joy/pain, sacrifice
    and most importantly of all, love;
    the leftovers is like the one that got away.
    the girl you tell yourself was the one;
    you make yourself believe that notion;
    even though it's ridiculous. just like Kevin Garvey
    searching all them years for Nora; no matter how emotionally detached she is from him.
    there are questions that should never be asked and that are never answered.
    that is the fun of life.
    update:
    on the 4th time of watching i realized how strong lindelhof magnetically pulls you towards the characters and vica/versa
    also that there is a 50;50 split between whether Nora passed through the machine or did not.
    but there is a small grey area between this theory; PURGATORY
    we had a similar situation with Damon lindelofs LOST;
    to start with Kevin barely knows anything about his or Nora's relationship when they meet for the first time.
    secondly there seems to be something really strange about kevins behavior in conversation with Nora; the smirks the little smiles there seems to be an emptiness behind his eyes.
    Kevin also mentions heart problems and that he had the big one?
    is this because of all the dunking in water over the years or
    did he indeed; have the big one and pass?
    the beads that were offered to Nora at the wedding.
    the beads that Nora almost arrogantly refused to wear.
    the beads of sin;
    that were placed on the goat that she in turn adopted;
    had she finally decided to take sin home with her?
    the sinful nun who was first exposed at the wedding.
    the call to Laurie Garvey? the same woman who supposedly committed suicide. then miraculously shows up carrying her departed child whilst on the phone to Nora;
    there are so many clues in this great episode but i will leave it to you to unearth them
    and alas= the great Christopher Sunday. (David Gulpilil) (Ridjimiraril Dalaithngu)
    we know he possessed the song to bring the great flood,
    and this is why he was sacrificed;
    so Kevin Garvey senior would not be able to perform the last ritual.
    therefore saving humanity from extinction
    i'm just delighted Mr lindelhof decided to create
    another labyrinth for us to wander through just as he did with LOST
    and it also introduced me to a couple of amazing songs
    that i had never laid ears on;
    so thank you for the memories and hopefully many more to come;
    PS; my song is bring the rain;
    not stop it.

      Kevin had a heart attack because in the ‘other’ world he had to cut his own heart open to launch the nukes...
      That world dies (‘floods’) while the other one lives
      Very deep message about personal sacrifice in there
      On the bridge in the episode, International Assassin, David Burton drags Kevin out of a car and gives him the chance to kill himself or kill Patti... Burton warns him that these are pretty much the same outcome (‘Kevin won’t be able to live with himself’)... because he kills Patti, he sets himself up for the later trial in Season 3, where he faces himself in an act of infinite sacrifice

    Entire third season was a mess. And I'm easy to pleased on endings. But this was all over the place. One minute it's an end of the world story next minute oh wait it was just a love story all along. Pamp.

      Yes because the end of the world didn't happen. Which was set up at the beginning of the season. People were seeking meaning in the end of the world. When in reality its found in love and other people
