I went from The Leftovers to the handmaid's tale totally unaware that she was in both and I have to say she is hands down one the best tv actresses of Our Generation.
Not so much underrated, (as I constantly hear praises for The Leftovers), I'd say it's criminally obscure lol. Not enough people have heard of this perfect show.
It's rare to see actors speak so effusively and passionately about their show, especially so long after the fact. It's a testament to the power of the leftovers
This is wonderful. You never really know if a character has gotten under a performer's skin but it really seems like Ann and Justin have taken Patti and Kevin to heart.
The Leftovers was very cathartic, it was a brilliant tragedy. I loved how it made me cry. It made me think about all the grief in my life and I reflected on how I deal with grief. Do I do it in a healthy way or an unhealthy way? It made me feel that it was ok not to have all the answers in life cause the unease over those answers plague all humans in everyday life. It talks about our relationship with life and death.
What a nice surprise seeing this! The Leftovers was the BEST series ever! It moved me in ways I cannot describe and so grateful we went to HBO in NY to ask for more! Good Times!
It is my favorite show and it has touched me in so many ways I can't even say it. It is wonderful to see it is special to the actors as well. Thank you for this masterpiece ♥️
I've watched this show many times. The mood captured is so on point. The level of sincere acting is above and beyond. Ann Dowd is amazing and I couldn't keep my eyes off of hot cop. This show has stuck with me over years now. Nothing compares.....
The Leftovers is more than my favorite show. It's a work of art that I feel lucky to have experienced. I've rewatched it numerous times since it ended and it always speaks to me in a way that nothing else eve has. You two (and the rest of the cast) are so talented and I am so happy more people have been watching the show recently. The Leftovers wouldn't have been The Leftovers without you so thank you for the gift you've given us.
Justin Theroux and Ann Dowd are fabulous actors and people. The Leftovers really was so extraordinary. Brilliant work. Justin is one of my favorite actors ever.
I just finished this series for the first time and it was amazing. Truly one of the best I've ever seen! It's the type of show you wish could go on forever because there is still so much more that can be explored, and yet, it is so satisfying with the way it ended. It's very bittersweet. I will definitely be rewatching it at some point because there is so much hidden depth to this show that I'm sure isn't caught on to in the first viewing. Ann Dowd (after seeing her on The Leftovers and The Handmaid's Tale) is quickly becoming one of my favourite actresses. Her work is next level and it always stirs up emotions in me. Usually anger of some sort because of the characters she plays, but emotions are only stirred when the acting is done right. Justin Theroux is a new actor to me and I will definitely be seeking out his other work. Words can't do justice the brilliance of his acting. The bond between Ann and Justin in this video is heartwarming. I'm so glad I got to see this! :)
Thanks to everyone who was involved in creating the show and the chance itself. After this show, I can't watch anything else, I'd rather watch Leftover again than waste time on another show.
This series was never a "ratings grabber", it is a slow burn. It may be years from now, but i have no doubt that in the fullness of time this show will recieve all of the critical acclaim and appreciation it so richly deserves.
Are you kidding, I used to watch the episodes over and over. It was cathartic....I think it was episode 6 'Guest' where everything sort of clicked and all of it started to make sense. The structres of the stories, the perfection, what was going on with the characters...just that episode was the turning point. I like the show before that and then I it so gripped my imagination I lived and breathed it. Have never before or since been so taken, so moved by anything on TV. And these two incredible actors were such a huge part of it. I hope they know what a special thing they created.
Oh I cannot express how important is the trust and how we treat each other on the work scene, because at the end of the road the creation moments are so important.
I have no idea why I stumbled on this today and then went on to watch Ann talking about "Handmaid's Tale" with Margaret Atwood, but I am so glad I did. I have great respect for Ann, but she is so good that I have always worried if I met her in person, would she be like those characters that haunt me a little. I no longer have that worry, and I hope I meet her at some point. Out of character, she really exudes kindness and consideration. I am sure she makes a very loyal and loving friend. :) And I had no idea they filmed in Lockhart! I have lived in Austin for 25 years, so I wish I had known. I might have tried to run into them all! lol
One of my all time favorite shows. Powerful, moving, so thought provoking. Love that these two actors grew so close through the experience. They are both stellar actors and I love that I can feel and share their love of the show from this vid. The Leftovers deserved more. I try my best to share that love with family/friends. P.S...music is divine.
It is a best TV series ever. I see actors from this show anywhere else (series, movies etc) and pleasant warmth fills my heart because of Leftovers. Sadly I recommend Leftovers to my friends and only 1 liked. Great respect to all of creatures from storyteller to actors. Ann and Justin acting was on the brink of reality.
If somebody asks me about this show, I will say: "I've watched and I still don't know what it is exactaly. But I know that there's a lot of life on it".
I am a huge fan of both of you. Now hearing you talk on a personal level I understand why I’m so drawn to you both. Phenomenal humans, with beautiful hearts. Thank you for sharing your talents with all of us.
That was so lovely, thanks! I just bought the 3 series DVD last week as it was finally available again in the UK. Nearly finished I Claudius (from the seventies) so The Leftovers will be next! Looking forward to seeing it again after a good while. From my memory I think much of it will feel like a documentary! By the way I watched the first episode of the second season first by mistake which made it even wilder :)
I said it once. I'm glad this series was under the radar. Normie's would've just polluted it like they did with GoT. Some shows should be just be for those that deserve them. The Leftovers is one of them.
16:23 yess! And I thought I'm fucking crazy,I legit feel the same way and I had alot of coincidences when things happen to me and somehow reminds me or it's connected to the show ..
Ann dowd is honestly such an incredible actress, anyone who hasnt seen her in Mass (2019) seriously go watch it, she plays with a same cathartic character who is the mother of a school shooter
I didn't know what Patty was all about until I watched Cairo about 3 times, I realized they were nihilists who wanted the other shoe to drop and wanted to force everyone else into their doom. How interesting that the characters themselves were trying to find this out as well. What an organic evolution. I could see what the scripts really didn't give it away up to that point.
I don’t know what happened to Ann Dowd’s son but what she was saying and how she was talking about Justin’s voice in her head seeing her through it made me well up
But Kevin kills her twice...but then he brings her back in season 3 because he cannot do what he needs to do without her. She is trying to as always get Kevin to face some truth about himself, just as she tried to do in the Cairo episode.
I've just binged watched all the 3 seasons in a week & I just want to say that I think it's average. I don't get what all the hype is about. I mean I loved the 1st season when the story was only the missing 2% bec that's what the shows name is & then it turns to Saving the World & being Jesus & it ends up being a Romeo & Juliet love saga. I mean what? Please someone explain it how all this connects & make sense
Its all those stories fabricated through the many characters suffering through psychosis. Its about the stories told to each other and ourselves, coping.
It's just not for everyone. That's why it's not popular. But maybe someday it will make sense to you. I hope it does. So many emotions that the show presents through the characters are really deep and relatable. But in the end it's how you filter them through your own experiences.
I liked the show and loved the score the first watch. I was hung up trying to divine why the ppl disappeared, and the shift of locations and new storylines each season was a little unbalancing, but i still enjoyed. The 2nd watch, not as unbalancing, as i knew what to expect and thought i already had the available answers. I was able to focus more on the characters and themes presented, which allowed me to enjoy it at a whole new level. To really get this show, i had to not get hung up on the wierd parts and take the hint from the S2 intro. theme and "Let the Mystery Be". Also, think about or rewatch the last scene, then ask yourself: Was Nora lying? I had a different answer the 1st time i watched, and it made all the difference.
I clicked on this just to hear Ann Dowd say "Kyevan" again. Just one more time...
I went from The Leftovers to the handmaid's tale totally unaware that she was in both and I have to say she is hands down one the best tv actresses of Our Generation.
The term “criminally underrated” has never been more true than with this show
Omg sooooo true, it's just the best comment I've ever seen in my live
I think we all got hugs from Johnson
Not so much underrated, (as I constantly hear praises for The Leftovers), I'd say it's criminally obscure lol. Not enough people have heard of this perfect show.
@@tidepride86 If you take underrated to mean not rated highly enough. I mean it as it's not rated enough.
@@williamsallaway5302 oh okay rodger that
It's rare to see actors speak so effusively and passionately about their show, especially so long after the fact. It's a testament to the power of the leftovers
At times I hate that the leftovers never got the love and appreciation it deserved from the industry.
it's kinda baffling
Those people don’t deserve it
This show was perfect in every way; writing, acting, score...I'll revisit it every year rest of my life probably
This is wonderful. You never really know if a character has gotten under a performer's skin but it really seems like Ann and Justin have taken Patti and Kevin to heart.
What a delightful piece
THE LEFTOVERS CAST REUNION PLEASE!
Hearing Ann say "Kyevin" once again made me so happy lol
The Leftovers was very cathartic, it was a brilliant tragedy. I loved how it made me cry. It made me think about all the grief in my life and I reflected on how I deal with grief. Kevin at it again facetiming and conversing with an empty room
This show is so damn good. From the writing to the acting, the music to the special effects...it's damn near perfection.
The score definitely gets a huge shout out!
Just finished watching The Leftovers for the first time, and after feeling immediate withdrawal - this conversation is everything!!! ❤
Same here. Two days ago
This was very sweet. When I started watching I didn’t imagine I’d get so much out of this show. Brilliant.
I've watched this show many times. The mood captured is so on point. The level of sincere acting is above and beyond. Ann Dowd is amazing and I couldn't keep my eyes off of hot cop. This show has stuck with me over years now. Nothing compares.....

Justin is one of my favorite actors ever.
You can tell the cast members love talking about this show. Must feel great knowing you worked on this masterpiece.
When she says the name "Kevin shivers go down my spine. Love them so much.

I literally rewatched it less than a week later. All 3 seasons. A masterpiece!!
I finished watching it for the first time recently. And started watching S1 again few days later. What a show!
Top 5 show of all time!
More people need to watch this show. It is absolutely brilliant.
I recently finished this masterpiece!!
This series was never a "ratings grabber", it is a slow burn. It may be years from now, but i have no doubt that in the fullness of time this show will recieve all of the critical acclaim and appreciation it so richly deserves.
Suchhhhh an underrated show. I haven’t seen something as good in a VERY long time
What an underrated show
I still have dreams about this show.
Love this show beyond capacity

PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS SHOW.
Watching Leftovers interviews on TH-cam because it's October 14th here in Australia. This is my favourite television show of all time.

One of my favorite series.
Lost, Heroes, John from Cincinatti, Deadwood, The Leftovers
One of those series where you really feel sad that its over.
This was such a lovely conversation between two masters of their craft.
Such an amazing and underrated show -- glad for the quarantine that I found it!
If when she talks Ann Dowd I feel her, damn she's amazing

this is so sweet. when she called him Kyhevin, and he calls her Annie.
Such a great show something told me to to look up new videos to see if anyone still talking and wow great video one of my favorite shows

Very beautiful words, agree 100 %
but I think it's good to be out there, to be heard, the wonderful story and lessons and everything about the show.
Masterpiece of a show
what a great talk
awesome to see

He is such a daddy
Yes.
Ann Dowd played the role of aunt lydia so good that I don't trust her in real life.
But Kevin kills her twice...but then he brings her back in season 3 because he cannot do what he needs to do without her. She is trying to as always get Kevin to face some truth about himself, just as she tried to do in the Cairo episode.
He doesn’t like live music? That’s the first time I’ve ever heard someone say that.
❤

Characters are seeking meaning. Kevin may try and find it in being a messiah. However he only truly finds it in the people he loves.

Just Justin Theroux wear weave??
Just behind the Simpsons for greatest show ever.
