I'm getting into it too. I only got back into fishing in general a few years ago and have always targeted bass. Been watching a lot of trout fishing videos on here so 2 weeks ago I picked up some lures and just this past Sunday caught my first 3 rainbow trout! I'm hooked! Get out there and give it a try!

Powerbait is my favorite trout bait. I always used the dough. The go to set up would be a 3/8oz egg sinker connected by a snap on swivel with 4lb line, at the end would be a tiny trout hook. I'd grab just enough powerbait to mold around the hook. It worked every time

When you mentioned all the people, I immediately thought of fishing for trout on Long Island. We had to fly fish and pay rent for 100 yards of the shore of the river. So, there was one person every hundred yards. One day my 100 yards belonged to a swan. When you're standing in a river with the water nearly to your hips and a swarm swims up, his bill is the same height as your nose. It was very unnerving because he didn't want me there.

I’m always jealous that you have trout spots you can just walk up to. Where I’m at in Ga we have some nice rivers but 98% of the shore is not accessible by foot and the other 2% probably has a dozen fly fishermen standing there right now at 9 pm. The state doesn’t stock as much in the winter which for the life of me makes no sense, the one cole water species you got! Keep it realistic!

I swear by them, both the large and small ones. Set the smaller ones up on a Mustad slow death hook under a swivel and retrieve fast, slow, twitching or jerking. Next best thing if you can’t use real worms in your area.
