    Thank you, from Germany.

It's pronounced "wusster" sauce. (Englishwoman) I'm going to try all of these recipes. I bought an air fryer yesterday. I've used it twice already 🤤

Oi..! Nothing wrong with that. She's correct. That's how it's pronounced, in wooster (Worcester). I should know, I live here!
Also Lea and Perrins is the original. Made here.

Rather than poor man's lasagna it's actually pasta al forno(baked pasta). I make it quite often in the winter.. Some for now some for later.. Traditionally you can add chunks of pancetta, boiled eggs cut into bits, meat balls cooked in the tomato sauce first then put on the pasta before you put it in the oven. More ingredients mean the pasta goes even further and you can get 2 lots for the freezer and one for now!!!

  • @alicebrown8100

Hi Cathy. If you don't mind a senior lady suggestion. When you wrap freezer items with aluminum foil, start by placing the item on top of the piece of foil, bringing enough foil up over the sides and together like wrapping a gift. Pull the two ends together on top and fold downwards. It makes a much tighter wrap and when you pull it out of the freezer, it's easier to open, lays flat on top of other items in the freezer etc. Works much better than placing the foil on top, and trying to smooth it out underneath the food item. Happy cooking!

Hey! We use the same cheese grater. I use brick cheese almost exclusively. It melts better because it doesn’t have any anti-caking agents. It also really tastes better than the bagged and shredded cheese.

Another idea for the "poor man's lasagna" is to use frozen cheese ravioli for the pasta/cheese layers! I make this all the time. Just a thin layer of sauce on the bottom of the dish, then a layer of frozen ravioli, a layer of meat and sauce, repeat those two layers and top with mozzarella cheese before putting in the oven. It takes about an hour to cook in the oven since the ravioli is frozen, but it only takes a few minutes to put it together and it is SO easy and delicious.
And now I need to go put some ham and cheese sandwiches in the air fryer for lunch, thanks for that idea! :)

    Jiffy corn bread tip:
*add 3/4 stick of butter-not margarine + the ingredients on the box. Takes it to a whole other level of buttery goodness. The Jiffy Honey Cornbread is also yummy-can do the same thing for this also.

Just a reminder: that spray bottle is sold in Australia and New Zealand under the "Decor" brand at supermarkets. I HIGHLY recommend it....it's an absolute game changer for airfryers. I have 3 - one each for rice bran oil, EVOO, and water (for baking bread).
Also, my preferred oil is rice bran because it has a high smoke point and neutral flavour, and it's healthier than a lot of the alternatives. Alfa One is my favourite brand.

Decor also makes microwave cooking containers. Not like the common plastic containers. I have a set, they work beautifully and don't warp or absorb stain or odors! Fabulous product

A friend got me an air fryer that has the racks and not the basket and I was at a loss as to how to make a lot of foods in it. After watching this video I learned that I can use the rectangular Pyrex baking dishes I’ve had for years. I’m really stoked about this! I’ll be watching more videos by Fabulessly Frugal now because I can make a lot of the recipes Cathy does in them.

I don't shop online, unless I'm just buying pre-packaged foods. I don't want someone picking out my fresh foods, as they don't know me and what I would look for. Plus, those people are touching stuff all day long and you don't know if they are clean employees or not. But thats me........
One super cheap casserole I used to make when I was really poor.............
2 boxes of Mac and Cheese, cooked and drained. Set cheese packets aside.
    2 tablespoons of melted butter.
2 tablespoons of milk. (you can use soup stock, water, or almond milk instead)
    Salt, pepper, spices to taste.
2 cans drained tuna. (or chicken or ham, you can get from dollar stores now)
    1 can mixed veggies, drained.
Leftover cheese in the fridge (grated, shredded, or chopped up small)
Fold in all ingredients together, except leftover cheese, cheese packets, butter, and milk.
Whisk together melted butter and milk. Then whisk in cheese packets until smooth.
Fold into casserole mixture well. Place mixture into 8x8 casserole dish or 2 inch deep 8x8 cake pan.
Place aluminum foil or lid over casserole and bake at 350 for 30 minutes.
Remove lid or aluminum foil, spread out leftover cheese on top of casserole, back uncovered for 10-15 minutes at 350 degrees, or until top of casserole is to the desired color/consistency you prefer.
This can make 6 small dinners/lunches for one, or 4 nice sized ones.
Since I always have cheese, milk, and butter substitute in my fridge, I usually only have to buy the canned meat, Mac and Cheese, and can of mixed veggies. So I've got a nice casserole for $5.00 or less.
    Some alternatives can be.....
Add a can of mushroom soup instead of milk and melted butter.
Add some canned parmesan cheese to the mix for a more cheesy flavor.
Add chopped mushrooms instead of meat or fish, or add extra veggies you might have in the fridge.

I started order online and pickup from Walmart at beginning of pandemic. Have never stopped. So convenient and good prices. The produce can vary so we make short runs when needed at other local stores, Aldi, WinDixie, Publix for produce between Walmart orders. If a product is unsatisfactory, a refund is almost instantaneous. It is also handy is to see immediately which item you bought previously and how many times. Speeds things up is you have a minute of "brain fog".

Protip: don't pour all of that pasta water down the sink, use some of it to both season and thicken your sauce. Season because I assume that like any good Italian cook you salted the water "until it tastes like the sea" and thicken due to the starch left in the water after cooking the penne or whatever the pasta is. A half cup should be enough but use your own judgement.

Walmart is not cheap. That's their illusion. They have cheap price point items to get you in, but overall their prices are higher. Just an FYI. They get good deals from China but don't pass that savings on to the consumer. Just FYI. Buy local!! Love your channel. Just bought my Corsori (not from Wal-Mart lol). Hi Cathy all of these recipes look really good. I wanted to ask you about the oil sprayer you use. Do you keep it in the refrigerator? Also how long can you leave the oil in the sprayer before it goes bad?

    • @empoweredcooks
      @empoweredcooks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

I keep it in the pantry. I'm not sure how long it can stay in the bottle, sorry! I don't fill it all the way, so I go through the bottle pretty regularly.

I haven't seen this answered in any of your videos, but could you just bake a casserole in the basket, and not use another pan? Seems you could fit more food that way, and you'd be cleaning the basket anyway. TIA!

Melody, that is a great insight. My 5.8qt air fryer has the grates and holes in the basket. I've always seen that as an issue and haven't tried baking a casserole in the air fryer basket because of that. I can remove the tray in the dual blaze and will have to try it!

Just wondering do you test out the air fryer on how long it will last before you promote it?

The first air fryer I bought from Cosori is 2 years old and still being used by my daughter. :) My 2nd Cosori is still in my home and has been used for 15 months. The Dual Blaze has been used for about 3 months.

Hello, I would like little help with my new air fryer. It is Delimano air fryer touch. It has eight programs but on the box it says that it has diy function that allows the preparation of all other types of food. However, I can not find that function, there is no path on how to use it even in the manual. I hope someone can help :)

Hi Djana, I haven't used this air fryer so I can't help you. You could try contacting the manufacturer about your question and they should be able to help.

In watching this you never show how you got the hot dish out of the air fryer without spilling or burning yourself. That seems to be the issue I have.
