Thank you so much. My iPhones screen is completely broken, flashing green and thats about it. My local Verizon store is has a deal where you can still trade in a damaged phone for the normal price. However it needs to have find my iPhone off and be factory reset. I couldn't find it many other places. This video basically saved me hundreds of dollars. I will definitely keep your brand in mind when looking to sell other devices!
Sometimes it'll work via the iOS "Find my..." section, but oftentimes that can be glitchy. Thus, we recommend doing it from icloud.com/find to be safe.
Oftentimes you'll need to first "stop" the erase request, and then look for the remove option. Sometimes the "remove" option only shows up in the pull down list at the top-center of screen (with map in bkg). The only reason you wouldn't want to do it offline, is if you were concerned that your iPhone hadn't already been erased. Then you'd want to wait for it to go back online first, and then remove after erase is successful. But, if you know it is already erased, then you can just remove after stopping erase request.
Don't do the "erase" option, just remove by clicking the "x" or trash can. Depending on the repair shop you're using they may erase the device, so if you haven't backed up to iCloud, then yes you would lose anything not backed up.
@@JayBrokersisn’t that basically the same as in 5:20? you’re removing it from your account which doesn’t turn off find my location, just makes you access ID apple on that device
My insurance company requires find my iPhone to be off for them to fix it but the phone that is broken is literally not letting me use it at all it’s literally broken will this turn find my iPhone off ?? If it’s also still pending and I remove it will find my iPhone be turned off still ??
If you completely remove/delete your device from the "Find my...." page (www.icloud.com/find) then it will NOT reconnect after the phone is powered back on.
Is there any way to turn on find my phone from another device? I have my find my phone turned off on my iPhone, I recently lost it but I’m trying to find away to turn it on by using other devices. Is it possible to turn it on?
Sorry, but no. Apple only provisioned a way to turn it off remotely, but no option to turn on remotely. Sorry to hear about the loss. Maybe cell company could help you ping it if SIM card is still in?
You'll want to connect to iTunes/Finder to perform a "Restore" on the iPhone itself (via another computer). Then, you'll still remove remotely via iCloud.com/find.
The phone in question is stuck in the restore screen where you set it up for the first time. it is asking for apple id and password of the old owner. Since it is no longer in normal phone mode will the owner still be able to remove it from the account? She is saying she can not find the phone in icloud. I am trying to show her all the steps (in french) to first verify that it is not her new phone she is about to erase. then try to erase the old one. but, she said she can;t see the old one. Failing this i will have to send the phone back to her, just so she can enter her details as she obviously does not want to send them to me. She could neither disable find my phone from the phone, nor setup as a new phone when she sold the phone as the screen was broken. i have repaired it and am now stuck. if she becomes frustrated and gives up on helping i will be screwed.
Yes, it'll be exactly the same as shown in video for the remote removal instructions via icloud.com/find. However, she'll need to make sure she has the right Apple ID. Sometimes we encounter customers that have 2-3 different Apple IDs and if they log-in to the wrong ID, it obviously won't show up on the "Find my..." page. So, that'll be the first step to verify. Then, once she gets the right log-in/ID she just needs to get the correct unit removed. And, you can keep the iPhone powered off throughout this whole process so that it isn't connected to internet. That way she just needs to initiate the erase request to show the "remove" option. Since you're at the welcome screens, that means you've erased it already.
If you have the watch in your posession still, you can simply erase it via the Settings menu on the watch itself. Howver, if you don't have the watch in front of you, then a couple options exist. First, if your watch was passcode protected, the new owner would be forced to erase it in order to make use of it, so then your data would be erased. If you didn't have a passcode on your watch, then it's possible the new owner could get into your watch, but they'd only see data that was previously sync'd to the watch. In other words, the new owner wouldn't be able to send texts or messages from your watch just because you didn't erase it. Ultimately the new owner would likely simply erase it as he/she would want to pair it to his/her phone, and in order to do that the watch would need to be reset. Hope this helps!
Apologies, I misunderstood. If you have a PIN on your phone, the new owner would be forced to erase iPhone first in order to gain access or use it, but it is true if you didn't have a PIN on the phone then it's possible the new owner could gain access to your data. Sorry for the bad news there. One proactive step you could take though is to change your iCloud password as that way your old phone would essentially deregister itself from iCloud prompting the new owner to enter a new password for your iCloud account which would fail and then restrict access to your iCloud data at least.

Yes, use the instructions to remotely turn off in video and it'll work just fine.
