I'm self taught and I went to school for it. I've learned things in class that I couldn't find on the internet and found helpful TH-cam video content that I didn't learn in school

Same - but for my MFA in creative writing.
I'm just now leaving design as a CD after 15 years. I was self taught designer, then developer. My #1 secret, just go for it. It's not technically difficult, it's usually fun and you'll make cool friends along the way. Good luck!

I went to school for Graphic Design and most of what I know is through that program. However, I have also learned a lot by watching videos online and talking to different designers. I think what's really important for a young designer is a strong portfolio and it doesn't matter if you have a degree or not.
I definitely agree with this! a strong portfolio will get you SO far
I'm studying communication but in the process I falled in love with graphic design, this video inspired me to learn by myself and never stop

i’m still in high school and back then i was very confused on what job i’ll get in the future but then most of my friends knew that i was really good at editing and designing then one of them told me that i should do graphic designing and as of now i’m already focused on being a graphic designer!!

I love h for this video helped me so muxh as I’m going to school and taking graphic design as one of my courses. I already took the intro to 3D/ sculpture class but this video encouraged me to really consider this as a career for me
I just finished retraining (already been to uni but not for design so couldn't afford take 2!) and I just wanted to say how much I love the language that you used in this video. "You are professional" etc, made me feel really positive after the ol' rona has diminished job opps where I am at the moment.
Been struggling to find a job since I graduated College last year around this time. Got finessed by a company that used me for a month with no pay a couple months ago, that was my biggest accomplishment lol
Lol whyyy did u do that. Also sounds illegal af majority (if not all?) states require even “internships” to pay min wage.

Thanks so much for this video♡ I just finished my 2nd associate in New media technology about to major in communication design and do illustration and visual arts on the side 💕. This has taught me so much and hopefully I can mix my psychology associates and minor in psych and major in graphic design/communication designs

wonderful, it looks like I had the right idea! a relief as a college senior.
I’m currently finishing up my BA in design. From 2012 to 2015 I tried to go the self taught route and I couldn’t do it. There was never a time I could set aside to devote what I needed to learn. Everything else always was priority especially working another full time job. Finally when I enrolled in school, took out grants & loans the people in my life and myself actually took it serious and I really started to advance my skills. Also, going to school really opened my eyes when it came to learning animation, photography, web design etc.

I'm someone who mostly does graphic editing so this video defiantly helped me out with deciding on how I want to start graphic designing thank youuu!
As an absolute beginner, my number one problem is coming up with ideas or not knowing where to start. Idk what I’d do next after making a logo, mocking set ups, what fonts I could use, if I need to include photography or how can I incorporate all of them into a portfolio and I’m honestly overwhelmed since graphic design is my upcoming major but idk where to even begin even after a simple sketch.

Well rounded and then find something you're passionate about. I'm a graphic designer at a law firm and I know I want to work for a company/firm and don't like the idea of freelance personally. I have a focus in web design and that's also something I specialize in ❤️ I love the work, I feel more comfortable as a full time graphic designer and not a freelancer! Just as another note for people coming into the field and aren't comfortable with the idea of freelancing.

Great point about college. I consider myself a graphic designer already, but recently enrolled in graphic design school. I look at it not as a way to become a graphic designer, but to enhance the skills I've already been using.

Great video, helpful advice throughout! My favourite part of university was that it forced me to learn things like design principles and typography and layout, which I would probably have never thought about on my own.

I learned how to edit photos in both Photoshop and Lightroom last summer. I am intrigued to learn more with Photoshop. My major is Communications with a concentration in both video and audio production. I am graduating this spring. I would like to become a graphics designer and use the graphics for videos.

I finished my associate degree last summer. I think I am better at illustrations and logo design than anything else but I've struggled so much with being able to find a job that I'm starting classes for an animation degree tomorrow.

I an a statistics and Demo major and I've always wanted to own my own business. I recently completed an online course and started a designing company to freelance. I feel there is so much I need to learn. It makes my formal education feels like cake walk but i want to learn ... I'm really interested and willing to learn.

I am a Communication graduate but now I am working as a graphic designer. I didn't go to university to study graphic designing but I learned it through watching a lot of videos on youtube and by listening to my mentors at work. I applied for it but didn't have any idea how to do it so it was a real challenge. Just continue learning. At first, I don't even know how to use pen tool but through practice I learned a lot.

I graduated high school and am applying for uni but thr one i wanna get into only accepts 12 people for graphic design per year and the entrance exam is very focused on drawing which is not a thing I wanna do :/ I wish they had one more focused on editing/design bc learning by myself isn’t possible for me lol
