You don't have to empty the belt to see what it will produce. The preview shown at the end of the belt is what the belt will be producing eventually. That is a nice upgrade from the first Shapez. Really there is no need to empty belts. It's just a visual bonus now for yourself.
As long as the spaghetti is gluten-free I'm in! It's been really interesting watching this series as our playstyles are very different compared to other games where they are usually pretty similar. You're doing everything correctly, just so very different from what I would do. Great fun, thanks!
I mentioned that I would like to see more segments in the survey the devs had. Looks like they were already thinking of that so that's awesome to see. The only other thing I can think of to add to shapes 2 would be something like engraving. The devs would have to move to 3D shapes to add more complexity unless there is something else I'm not thinking of.
I can actually live with just the half destroyer. It's a little faster than the cutter, it's impossible to jam, and managing the halves are a bit more of a pain than turning the shape before keeping the eastern half. The main disadvantage is that you have to come up with at least twice the number of shapes if you're just rearranging the quadrants, but it's not like the shapes cost anything. I need to re-watch Nilaus' series, I'm just using trains to save on platform bits, but his train management is on another level.
arranging quadrants can also be done without any cutting and stacking, by using the swappers ! that also will result in "flat" setups on a single floor, with no stackers requiring to go up and down, and thus relatively easily allow to have three copies of one layout right above each other. (i didn't play hex yet, thus don't know whether swappers exist and how easy it would be to use them with hex)
Hello ! Love your shapez videos :) I watched up to episode ~6 in your main series and this hexagonal episode and up to now, i think I've never seen you using the launching belts (second mode of belts that you access by pressing tab on belts). Not only they are a good replacement when you still haven't unlocked the second floor, but even after they're still pretty useful cause they allow you to go through a full vertical wall of belts. They jump above 4 tiles.
I was confused when they started you off with cutters but once you revealed that you also get the trash by default and also that many of the initial tasks require all sorts of oddments anyway it made more sense. Early on I think you rotated one shape four times to stack it with another shape where technically you could have just rotated the other shape "only" twice, not that it matters now that you've unlocked another rotator.
It's weird watching her do all that breaking down shapes then putting them back together when all she had to do was rotate 50% of the source and stack them. I was screaming at the screen like "PLEASE SEE THIS!!!" lol
@@KatherineOfSky I know and it's probably what I might have done myself ... just watching videos like this I find myself shouting at the screen lol You're great on factorio I really like this channel :) Thank you for the entertainment K!!
great video! ive been waiting to see the hexes! cant wait to get there myself, after hard and insane. by the way, from your toolbar it looks like you do have the trash unlocked....
I would recommend focusing on 2 shape types at a time, because the space required for multiple isnt there just yet and the numbers needed are low enough you can really focus on 2 types at a time. One active, one passive. I.e. focus on one shape type when thatbis done focus on the next while the previous file is completed.
Well, that explains the hesitation re: spaghetti. Head started hurting at 3:00 saying to myself "oh, it's going to be one of those..." at the uneven belt placement. Still, watched the whole thing and enjoyed the heck out of it.
@@KatherineOfSky Spaghetti on my dinner plate. Yes please. Every day and twice on Sunday. Uneven spaghetti belts in my efficient factories...the agony! The OCD, it burnses.
I've started playing the game and I'm loving it so far (thank you for making me discover it BTW!) but I absolutely hate the default up and down hotkeys. I'm on a French keyboard and they are A and E by default... but it's A to go down and E to go up, and I always, ALWAYS mix them up...Then there's also the camera controls which I don't like, nearly any software or game will use the right and middle mouse clicks to move the camera around, but never left click. Even more so since in this game the left click also works for selecting stuff... The game is awesome but there are these things and a few others that irk me a little about it
Cool! I like Hexagons. But I do admit that the maths of the spins is weird. I did see that the red would end up on top, but some of the other shapes that I was sure were not right certainly were. You still have a Mine on the right Red/White Circles that isn't hooked up.
hey KOS long time no see. Going through a down time. Fun game though it stressed out my potato. I don't know if you know this but one can build such a jump gap on the second floor. it(s under the belt tool. so one can cross over a second floor belt if needed.

Got 47 minutes in before I realized the ‘90° rotator’ is actually a 60° rotator now 🤦🏻♀️
Indeed. I dont know why that isnt changed in game. A bit confusing.

@robslaney3729 I think that naming it "CW rotator" then describing it as "90 for quarters, 60 for hexagons" coud possibly help it...
Well... Hexagons ARE the bestagons.

Love how they not only gice you shapes with more segments but also take away second level in the beginning.

and you can use them to keep everything on a single layer when your trying to process a full 12 belts!
Yep, I used them in the later episodes of the first series :D

I prefer to do as much as possible, because you cant change the game speed, so everything has to have time to food.
