I tried it out and he cut an important step out, after you’ve done the alternations, you must cut along the folded line BUT NOT THE ENDS THEY MUST STAY INTACT! And then it will work And can see a cut in the video before he lifts it up

Everyone knew it was possible and that it needed to be cut in a certain way. So I increased the competition- who does it first in less than a minute. He skipped the last step! You have to cut the fold open between the first 2 cuts. Every seam between the first 2 cuts you made (just on that folded side, but keep the outer 2 uncut) has to be cut or else you'll just have a long string of loops.

There's a variation of this you can do with the plastic ring holder from a 6-pack of soda. You only cut the inner connecting pieces in a specific way that gives you one long continuous loop.
The method I came up with wasn't as good, but I would cut it into a loop going from the outside to the center after you fold the paper in 2 and start from the edge with the fold.
Same difference, because the result is identical. This is like solving a math problem in two different ways but both way still works because the answer is correct either way. Cool shape though!
