Hi Daz, another great vlog. On the first story I'd like to say that it is easy to get drifted by such stories and suddenly find yourself in midst of another human drama which is a typical with Thai girls in Pattaya. Now this challenges our humanistic side separating the wheat from the chaff, but we need to remember two very important elements, firstly we are here on VACATION or on retirement . So do I want to spend my time firefighting on behalf of others. Secondly, Kindness has no boundaries,I appreciate that, however don't we all have poor and suffering people in the places we left behind ? So my advice is to be generous with people you meet but never get involved.

Regarding money exchange at the airport the bottom level has the best rate equivalent to TT Exchange it is Superrich best rate I found. Story #1 I would say True. Hi Daz. One comment to make about the Bolt service. Whilst I would agree that a Bolt car taxi is generally more desirable than a motorbike one and worth paying the extra amount, the traffic in Pattaya can be horrendous at the best of times. I live in Pratumnak and when I go into Pattaya 2nd and 3rd roads are generally very busy so travelling by car can take a lot longer than a motorbike. I've used the bikes a lot and never had any issues but they wouldn't be for the faint hearted. I take up a slightly forward position for balance and keep my eyes on the road as if I were actually driving so if anything untoward were to happen I'm at least prepared for the worst to a degree!
I've lived here nearly 3 years and been coming to Pattaya for 9 years in total. Based on your comments about the young lady such as poor English, no tattoos, not knowing the area, not asking for any money and not being pushy for drinks, I would say that she is telling the truth but I could be wrong 555.

Cambodian women are much more matter-of-fact, even to the point of sounding callous, when talking about how tough their childhoods were. One of the few times I've felt pity for a bargirl was when a Cambodian lady asked me for a rough drawing of the front of the hotel I was staying at - she had never learnt to read in any language. Her attitude was no different to the hundreds of people I've met who cant swim : no-one ever taught her and she didn't think it was that important. If it was a ploy, it was a good one - I went downstairs the following morning to find her laughing with the staff as they handed my crude drawing around. I remain impressed - resilient people will do what they have to regardless of the deck stacked against them.

At the airport, if you go down to the 'Airport Link' train level, there are some currency exchanges there that have decent rates. Maybe not quite as good as the best in Pattaya or Bangkok but pretty close. It's the ones on the other levels that are generally poor rates.
If you're not going straight to Pattaya and you're staying in Bangkok for a night or few, the Airport Link Train is really good, easy to use and cheap. Depending where you're going and the time of day, it's often much quicker than a taxi, although you may need a taxi to finish the journey.

    1) Exchanging money. Whether at the airport or anywhere else, just use your ATM card and don't select Dynamic Currency Conversion. You'll get a good rate.
    2) Rather than a taxi or bus, I usually grab a car from the limo kiosk just as you're exiting Customs. Double the price, but for around $60USD you get a nice, comfortable air conditioned fairly new car in good shape.

Some spot on advice here, definitely bring some cash from home (eg, UK pounds) and change the minimum amount you need at the airport - rates are well below what you will get anywhere else but still better than the UK.
For mobile phones, I would highly recommend some Xiaomi phones as they have dual SIM and the phones are unlocked. You can change SIM within the phone settings and dont need to restart it.
If you bring your phone from the UK then my advice would be turn on airplane mode and THEN TURN ON Wifi - your phone is essentially then like a tablet. You can use it to connect to Wifi, send emails, WhatsApp etc and it wont cost you anything. You can then use a cheap phone with a Thai SIM for calls etc.

As for the first story, i believe this happens, and this is true in some cases, all girls come to Pattaya for the first time, once...so maybe you "caught" one on her first days. Maybe you see her again in a few weeks or months and see how things change. So, by then, you'll know it was her true first contact. if she is still telling the same story after a few months...maybe it is something different :-)

I have already booked a 4 week vacation, 2 weeks in Pattaya and 2 in Bangkok. Yes I am aware its a bit overkill however I do plan on doing a lot of nothing as well, meaning sitting at a pool or beach and contemplating life or drinking a beer people watching. I also Plan on possibly buying some condos for a quick turn around Airbnbs if you have suggestions on real estate or property managers that would be great. But nevertheless whenever I listen to you I think, the Great Michael Caine has retired and lives in Pattaya now and offering great advice and stories. Since I dont know your face, ill stick with you are Michael Caine retired and working for us as a guide lol

Yeah that's beyond overkill. Why not explore many other locations in Thailand? So many things to see all over the country. Pattaya will get boring after 2 to 3 days. Lackluster beaches compared to many other locations. Sitting at the pool all day will get old fast too.

Daz, your tip on fresh BBQ food is very important. I would say bring a small box of diarrhea tablets like imodium, as either you will get a bug or an upset stomach. If you want or need a 'blue pill', bring your own supply with you, as those sold locally are often fake. Learn some basic Thai words like hello, thank you, 'how much' etc. If a girl says 'you handsome man', be relieved that someone has finally recognised your good looks. It is then you realise why you came here! However, also be aware, if a pretty Thai girl will 'go' with you... It is NOT love. It is business......One last tip. Watch Daz's videos for newbies. Daz knows his onions!

I got diarrhoea from eating a few kebab sticks from a street seller and yes I didn’t follow daz tip (although this was way before watching the video) it’s a good tip, only eat when u see if freshly cooked, but tbh I won’t eat from one again.

How do you know for sure that she really has ANY tattoos ANYWHERE? Have you looked everywhere? I would be very skeptical of her story, similar things, to a lesser extent, were told to me by ladies who all just wanted my best too. My money.

Great video, Daz. Love your perspective! 😀.
As regards your Ubon girl, how come she can speak any engrish if she's been in the sticks all her life? They get taught very basic engrish at school from age 13 to 16, but this Oscar nominee left school before that, aged 12.... I know you can speak basic Thai, but not enough to communicate with this wee actress if she had just come from the fields (laundry) to Pattaya. Also re tattoos, that's a very personal choice. I've met plenty Pattaya bar girls with bodies unblemished by tramp stamps so it doesn't necessarily mean that she's not a "seasoned" bar girl. (Last week I met a lovely hostess who's back was so embellished, it took so long to read them all, I lost my stroke!) 😀 .... so age 20 at the Ubon bar in 2020? She's 22 now? Give her a couple more interviews 🙏😍😎

Always on point with simple key information but I would say use the ATM while in the airport. Smart travelers deal with a bank with ATM fee reimbursement (you're going to use doing your trip anyway) and you always get better exchange rates. As far as your story, hard to tell, lots of sad coincidences in a row but I would feel bad for her and help a little after a while of seeing a pattern but not in constant support. I get that Pattaya is easy money with sex but what does a Thai girl need to live comfortably without being a "super butterfly"?
Maybe not be the hit rating video but I wonder? Keep up the good work, Happy Holidays!
