Hey Senan, I love your videos. Very natural and in beautiful surroundings. Great examples of catch and release and considerate fish handling. All the best to you.
Of course man but The trout don’t know what rod you’re using, until I come across a lighter fly rod for these small streams this one will do just fine 👌😁
Amazing that you stripping the nymphs back fast?! We are all told to dead drift nymphs slowly back! Maybe the fish take the beaded nymph as a small fish when you strip. Effectively you this fishing small streamers. I feel for you losing that big trout. That's why I don't use barbless hooks anymore. I have no issues with unhooking fish. I see people who preach barbless hook then keep fish out of water too long when they talking in to camera etc! It's that what harms fish, not a little barb.
Ya you’re right I’m basically fishing them the opposite of how they are supposed to be fished here but the trout seem to respond to them and react more so, and ya the barbless flies are great and all but I agree a tiny size 16 fly with a tiny barb isn’t going to do any damage to a trout, not in my opinion anyway, they jump like crazy it would help keep the hook in if anything, but I’m not fussed either way, just a bit of fun ☺️💪🎣
@@senanstanleyfishing I think it's a bit over the top regards barbless hooks now. I practice good fish handling and release the trout, but end of the day, I really want to get a decent fish in. That trout you lost could have been a record breaker for the river. Least you hooked it I guess.
Would love to do it properly down here, struggle with how overgrown the stretches get during summer here, the river really needs some rain to freshen things up now 😁🎣
Very hard conditions Senan. Still great to get out 👌Keep at it 🇮🇪👌
Sound bud, no river monsters in that river that’s for sure 😂👌🎣

Thanks Karl! Always do my best anyway, glad it comes across that way
Thanks for the video Senan, class fishing,u really know you're stuff.
Thanks Kieran, much appreciated 👌🎣
Have to say your videos are brilliant. Keep them coming 👍
Thanks Caolan, making the most of the trout season not long left now 🎣
Hi Senan great video. That looks like the ideal river for tenkara rod fishing I use it all the time on small rivers you should give it a try.
Will look into it pat, always fun trying new methods 👌
Good you won't regret it give me a shout if you need any advice on gear I can stear you in the right direction.
awesome
Thanks Terry 🎣
Why do you use such a heavy rod for such a tiny river. Would ye not try a 1 or 2 weight and lighter tippet?

How are you detecting bites 1:15 here? Just by feel or what?
hes detecting it by feel thats the best way when nymphing, you can also see the line tighten at the tip when the fish took it
From a fellow irish angler where was that
Thanks Derek, we don’t mention the locations on the channel ☺️
Can't believe we didn't get to see that trout. He was very decent 😱
Felt solid, usually they come to the surface but this lad had enough shoulders to stay deep! Was a sad moment when the hook slipped 🤕👎
Great videos man. Very enjoyable. Do you mount your GoPro on your chest or in a head mount?
I normally bring both mounts with me, head mount is nice footage but chest is easier to access when casting ☺️
Bro great video 😍
Thanks for watching 🔥

@@senanstanleyfishing same up here in north atm. Rivers are bare bones !!
No need to do euro! He's catching plenty!!
@@carlhughes9584 thanks! Was a suggestion for a bit of fun more than a necessity. Tight lines ‘!!’
That was a good fish that you lost, I also lost a big one a week ago. You will get him again though.
Just nice to know there’s one or two big fish hiding in there somewhere 👌🎣
The shovels talked too much ... they were sent to sleep with the fishes.
