    I got a new fly rod n reel combo a few weeks back & had only used it once until Friday evening my little Brother called me around 3:30 after his work he had left his house keys in his house but had his gear in his work van so asked if I wanted to go out so he comes to get me n just before we were about to leave he said oh no I’ve left my rod in the shed so we had to travel 15 miles only to find it was his longer rod that was in his shed & his other rod must be in the house 🤷🏼‍♂️then when we got to my Dads on our way to my local river he stays just around the corner from it I realised I had left my waders 🤦🏼‍♂️ so back to mines 🤷🏼‍♂️ so we get to the river get set up turned out his rod was in the van all the time 🤦🏼‍♂️ so we split up I had a few casts at some rising trout but the sun was right in my face so decided to move up stream as I’m getting out I’m reeling in my line & somehow the top section of my rod snapped clean off 🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️ easily the worst evening I’ve ever had I’m hoping I can get it repaired but haven’t called the shop yet but I’m thinking of patching it completely & going back to spinning that’s the 3rd time over the years I’ve got a fly set up & only caught 2/3 over 25 years ago I don’t think I’m meant to be a fly fisherman 🤷🏼‍♂️ sorry for the rant 🤦🏼‍♂️ take it easy n Tight lines

    Deep spots where there good surface flow will give more oxygen. On hot humid days these will be the best spots. But i think you are already aware of this fishing as long as you have. But its a good tip for newbies. Especially if the spot has shade too.

    That river and that whole farm. Looks like paradise on a summer day. What a great spot to fish and just explore. Great trout fishing over there. I am amazed. Like I said earlier I didn't know the UK had such good fishing. I thought just carp and catfish maybe some pike. I was so wrong. That's great trout fishing. What size line do you use? I use 6 lb test on my trout rod. Sometimes 4 lb test.

    • @adventurefishinguk
      @adventurefishinguk  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah we have some great fishing in the UK, you just need to know where’re to look! Where are you from! I normally use 10-15lb braid with a 12lb fluoro leader so I’m prepared incase I get a big one or a salmon on the line 👍

      Connecticut in New England USA. We have decent trout waters here but most are stocked hatchery fish. There are still some native brook trout around in the small streams. But if you catch a 8inch native brook trout that's a trophy in most waters. They are delicious as well. Great videos keep them coming.

    A few things on your release. If you are not already doing so (you might be editing that out), please wet your hands prior to touching a trout, contact with dry hands or land or dry nets removes a layer of slime that protects them from bacteria. Also, try to minimize a trout's time out of water to 10 seconds or you greatly increase their mortality (it's much better for the fish if you keep it submerged in your net before lifting it out to show people vs on it's side exposed to air). Tight lines!

    • @adventurefishinguk

      You have to pay for a license to fish freshwater yes, and in a lot of cases either a day ticket or membership. Sometimes free though other than the license! Culturally, we put most of the freshwater fish we catch back!

      @@adventurefishinguk Hi mate. You had it pretty much covered. Up stream from where you were is a private stretch. Let’s just say there is a large park where the river where the river flows about a mile and a half upstream. If you google earth it from your trout location you should find it. It’s very shallow but there are places where it deepens and there are reasonable chub. But the playing fields can get very busy with kids and dogs etc. It’s one of those rivers that needs to be explored especially down stream but can be tricky getting to the bank side.
