Hello and welcome to my channel! My name is Johanna Janatuinen, I´m a physiotherapist, animal physiotherapist and riding instructor. A big passion of mine has always been training horses and also rehabilitation. This channel is all about horse and rider wellbeing, and horse and rider training and development. You will find tips to improve your riding in and out of the saddle, and especially on how to develop a better seat in the saddle, which I think all good riding eventually comes down to.
I have worked with horses and riders for more than 20 years, first training horses and teaching riding in Finland where I live and also abroad. Later I studied to become a physiotherapist and after that also specialized in animal physiotherapy. I treat and train horses and riders, my biggest focus being to develop the connection and understanding between rider and the horse.

Thanks for this video. Yesterday I had this forward horse and in the trot she kept falling to the inside and I had trouble getting her to be on the track. Inside leg and outside rein? Feeling it hard to use my legs in the trot, but hopefully it will come in time 😅

Yes definitely inside leg and outside rein to straighten the horse. Also lots of half halts to rebalance the horse, as falling in (or out) is always a sign of imbalance. Keep yourself centered and upright. If possible, make transitions to walk, this will also help to balance the horse and give yourself more time to organise yourself and the horse😊

Hi Johanna, thank you for your helpful video. Can I ask you a question? How can I rotate my hips when I'm turning ? I explain better, so I must put my weight in my inside seatbone, but on a turn my seatbones must be parallel to my shoulders or my inside hip is forward and my outside hip is back?

Hi! Try walking turns on the ground (without a horse)and really think about what happens in your body. The movement in your pelvis and also the position of your shoulders is pretty much the same when you're riding a turn. It's not a static position, everything needs to happen in the rythm and it's definitely not a big movement when you're on the horse. Kind of like the horse's legs would be your legs. Or you could think that you're turning the saddle with your pelvis a little bit each step. Now I don't know if this makes any sense at all😅

@@johannajequestrianphysio Ok, it's not to much different to how we move our body on a turn without the horse, thanks for the answer!
