Really impressive! I have Erica's Bass Drum 2 and I think it's fantastic, maybe a bit limited to it's 909 inspiration. Lots of great features though. It sits in a live rig. I have a studio rig too, and I think Battering Ram is the dedicated kick it wants ; ) Thanks for this!
Great walkthrough of this module showing the ease of use! I’m definitely looking for a bass drum module like that and have been excited about this since hearing it was in development. How is the output volume? I was going to pick up a kickall but heard the output was a little quiet. Is there anything you’d want to change on the module as you use it more? I feel like as you get used to modules you’re wishing for it to be different less than just learning to like their workflow but figured I’d ask. Shakmat is awesome! I first jumped on the bard quartet and now and then picked up a knights gallop. Wish I had the cash and empty case to go through all the modules. Time wizard and four bricks rook and this and the hihat module of course.
Thanks! I saw your videos on the Bard - great stuff. You got a cool style. The output is great. I still haven't had it very long, but I haven't noticed anything I dislike about it. If I had to criticize it - the only thing I can think of is that it doesn't have FM. I have a DFAM and Patching Panda BD-z and both of those have that capability. It's great for making distorted or unique sounds sounds. Also great when the pitch is higher. But... The actual sound is fantastic. The drive is great too. Would definitely recommend. At the moment my desire to keep searching for Kicks is over! :)
@@braintree56 thanks so much! Having fun with them for sure and glad you liked em! Another one on a modulation source prototype on the way. That’s great to hear about the module! Fair not having fm! I imagine for my uses, that won’t be an issue for me. Good to know though. I think I’ll settle in and save up for one! Thanks again!
"One of my favorites"... There are pros and cons to all these modules. Compared to the patching panda. Battering Ram doesn't have FM. Patching Panda had some clear sweet spots and didn't feel as versatile/flexible. Patching Panda DIY is almost one third the cost of the Battering Ram... So there's that... So it's difficult to pick a clear "Favorite". I can say that I like the Battering Ram and can see going to it as a first reaction. It's just so easy to use...
@@braintree56 Was your Patching Panda V1 or V2? The HIHATS V2 was pretty high in price. Originally I thought the Battering Ram was cheaper, but that was because it was listed in British Sterling Pounds, ha! My bad. Do you still have the Patching Panda Bass Drum and the Battering Ram, as in are you going to keep both? I think I have been buying some s***ty modules lately. Oh well...
Thank you very much for this video, I really like how Shakmat think their module, easy to use and sounds. I ordered it last week. Do you plan to review the new Archer's Rig module which would be incredible as a companion to the Battering? Thanks 🤘🏻
This is exactly the kind of walk through and explanation I was looking for. Great video with just the right pacing and depth. I'm sold!
Awesome! I'm using this all the time. It's easily my go to kick at the moment.

Can't go wrong with Shakmat. The Bard has been on my list for awhile.... And Aeolus Seeds...

Favorite kick you have ever used? Better than Patching Panda and the Erica Bass Drum you have? Also, what were you running the gate from?
