    Gotta love how Barnabas so wonderfully flies off the handle once he realizes that Clive is actually a match for him. Bosses that suddenly become absolutely ecstatic at the idea of fighting an equal, that they can FINALLY go all-out, is always a treat.

    I absolutely love the fact that this boss fight focuses more on Clive vs Barnabas rather than the Eikon fight. Unlike Bahamut and Titan, this fight is perfect demonstrating Odin’s power - a TRUE one on one blade duel forcing you to aggressively go ham on abilities against this boss who somehow split the sea in half

      funny i had the opposite feeling. i loved the battle but still had massive disappointment that i didn’t beat odin at full power. i never fought the version of odin that had the strength to cut the sea. there was a small moment sure but it felt so…miniscule. i love the one on one duel but hated had i didn’t see clive overpower the true strength of odin because the eikon was an after thought

      It was obviously just a rushed fight. Its not that it was meant to be personal between Odin and Clive. It was just rushed and a very small scale battle in a game about eikon battles and dominants. Clive has ultimate control over ifrit at this point. It wasn't a oh I wont use him because this is personal. Odin and his content was cut the same way ash was just cut. It felt like niffelheim 2.0

    I was sad that there was no true Eikon battle between the two but I am not disappointed in this fight itself. Barnabas truly felt like the warrior king the lore and game says he is. I do love how aloof he is until he realizes that Clive can actually take the full force of his skills and power.
    I'm also happy that he didn't have a last minute "Oh wait I was wrong." before he died. He stuck to his guns and even achieved his objective and got to die at peace. Rather ironic considering how bad he is but he actually got to die at peace compared to not just the other villains but all characters that didn't make it in this game.

    I felt a little let down by this fight, but I do understand why it is this way. I really wanted Ifrit vs. Odin, and I feel like they really teased us and we never got it. But I also understand the symbolism was that this battle was never meant to be Ifrit vs. Odin, it was Clive vs. The King, Clive vs. Barnabas.
    I came to accept that with time, but it still felt like a shame after the masterpiece that the Bahamut fight was.

      True, but this fight is a masterpiece in and of itself, and easily the much more challenging fight from a gameplay standpoint.

      @@MajesticFerreti have to agree it was more of a let down. they could have let us see ifrit over power full power odin or at least TIE, in an epic way, and still give us the fight of values and sword fighting they definitely teased orin’s strength and only let me feel like i beat him at half strength. i feel they could have found a way to better balance it.

    Ngl I did not like the Eikon fights. They were too long and I could use none of the skills I spent so much time working on with human Clive. The Eikon fights give me carpal tunnel. They're like long light saber fights in Star Wars.
    This battle also cemented Barn as my favorite character. I agree that it's a more meaningful fight than if they had just used Eikons and it doesn't match Barnabas's character to do so. Barnabas's pride is his OWN skill with a blade; that he is also Odin is the icing on top. Remember when he said "power beyond reckoning and they use it as a crutch"? Barnabas doesn't NEED Odin to win and I'm willing to bet he finds eikonic battles boring as fuck. He WANTED to lose to Clive and he also wanted their fight to be personal and intimate; Clive seems to have understood this ("I'm coming for you, Barnabas.") He's the only Dominant that Clive bothered exchanging words with as an equal.
    Had he not needed to feed Bahamut to Clive later, he definitely would have beaten the scales off of Dion before he would have a chance to destroy the world.

      I don't think they did him dirty, they simply went in a different direction with him.
      If you look at this fight seeing it as Clive vs. Barnabas and not as Ifrit vs. Odin, I think you can appreciate it more.
      This was the most personal fight in the game, because it was a fight between the Dominants.

  • @St4rTr3v1Ut10n
    @St4rTr3v1Ut10n ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I was disappointed. Each Eikon fight built upon the previous one and got bigger and more epic, and then you have, even admittedly from people who like this fight, a "plain/ol'fashioned/normal" fight, twice. Hell, in the Titan fight Clive just copies Hugo by straight up saying "I can do that too." I don't see why they couldn't have a giant Eikon sword duel. Ifrit even manifests a fire sword at one point ffs. I think a couple of things may have accounted for this - they painted themselves into a corner having this fight take place on a single, tall tower, thus not having enough horizontal real estate for a full Eikon fight. They could've also ran out of time/budget to develop a full on Eikon fight. I think it's a respective 30/70, they clearly wanted to get as much mileage out of Barnabas'/Sleipnir's moveset as possible; seriously how many times to you have the same fight between Sleipnir, his clones, then Barnabas however many times?

  • @LastOfGamers

    Unfortunately his fight was disappointing and less epic than other eikon fights! And for some reason he was out of character! The build up for the fight was going perfect until the fight which was a disappointment! I thought clive lost twice then he will team up with shiva,Phoenix, and bahamut to beat odin with pure epicness because Odin supposed to be the most powerful eikon!

    • @dinorex3464
      @dinorex3464 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I understand that you may find it disappointing, since there is no Eikon fight, but if you think at it this fight is not out of character at all.
      The whole reason for this fight was that Barnabas wanted to test Clive to make him "worthy" of being Mythos and give him his Eikon so he could meet Ultima with all their powers. Also, if you consider that Barnabas already defeated Clive twice you can see why Clive went alone. He wanted to kill Barnabas to destroy the barrier who was stopping him from reaching the Mother Crystal and at the same time he wanted payback.
      As for Barnabas going insane in the final phase, it is perfect for his character, although unexpected.
      Barnabas conquered the entirety of Ash when he was very young and is the only known Dominant of Odin, many even call him the "ageless king" (since it is later revealed that he turned into a sentient Akashic to serve Ultima and essentially stopped aging ever since), so we don't know how long he has been alive. His goal was always to serve his god, but we can tell deep down he always wished to have a fight who would entertain him, which is why he always took part in all of his nation's wars.
      So the second he realises that Clive has not only become worthy of meeting Ultima, but also a match for him, he refuses to give him his Eikon directly because he wants to enjoy the first true fight he gets in decades.
