    ABOUT KIRK HAMMETT
Kirk Hammett, guitarist of the band Metallica, is extremely recognizable to people around the world. As a band, they've won eight Grammy awards, and five of their albums debuted at #1 on Billboard's charts. Metallica has sold over 110 million records, and they are among the most commercially successful bands of all time. Also an avid collector of horror and sci-fi movie posters, his popularity spans genres. "Every room that I had the posters in, I would always make sure I had a guitar and amp in that room for if they inspired me to play", he said about his horror movie posters in Rolling Stone in August 2017.

Jason tried to do something outside the band like this and it cost him his spot. It's good to see change in the band. I'm glad Rob and Kirk can have that outlet now. I just wish Jason had that same opportunity. Kirk is one of The Greatest of All Time. Much respect. He kicks serious ass.

Not necessarily Jason was trying to take his band to the next level making records and full on tours where these guys are just playing small gigs.

I see your point. Jason said Metallica was his number one and Voidvot was a side project. No band would ever be bigger than Metallica. James knew that. It was out of selfishness and jealousy.

I love Kirk 🤘 I didn’t know he liked old school 70’s funk. Funny thing when I saw Metallica in Orlando in 2017 Before Kirk and Rob did their little jam, Kirk was jamming a bit the guitar riff Le Freak by Chic. I was like wait is Kirk playing Le Freak

@1:29 "no one is writing songs like that anymore" this is not true, my friends. just go to small clubs, DIY spots, basements, or anywhere where actual musicians are creating their art. don't rely on radio or other people to bring you music like we have in the last 50 years. that is over. There is mind blowing music being created everyday. As long as we don't become lazy music listeners, the gold is right there for us to discover. I guarantee you there's a couple bands in your town (you, reading this) that are making some killer tunes. find them and enjoy !

He does come across as sort of the Michael Jackson of metal. But I think a lot of it is the contrast between what you expect a metal musician to be like as opposed to what a gentle soul Kirk is. He's a genuinely nice guy.

He is just a genuine guy. Not at all pretentious, and became a hugely successful lead guitarist at a fairly young age.
His ego has been in check and left behind decades ago, and still appreciates what has been offered to him.
      A gentle soul.
