  • Offered for sale is this gorgeous example of the C3 Corvette, a (numbers matching) 1970 Stingray Convertible in a very attractive color combination, and very freshly restored/refreshed. The former owner spent more than $36K giving the car a cosmetic and mechanical overhaul, with too many new parts to list. The paint quality is extremely good, and the leather/trim work exceptional. It is powered by the original 10.25-1 350, going through a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission and positraction rear end. The chrome and brightwork are in great condition, and the underneath exceptional with no rust. The white convertible top is new, and stows neatly.

    I only got to be in a Corvette once. I was at a party and I saw a (1990?) Vette out there as I was coming in. Some guy I never saw before (and never saw again after that day) owned it. He asked me if I liked it and I said yeah.
    The guy just tosses me the keys. He said I could take it for a spin.
    So me and the wife jump in this car and I floor it around the neighborhood. Nothing on that car was slow.
    I had a blast for about 10 minutes and then I started worrying he might have thought I stole it and called the police or something. Even without the speeding, having this much fun had to be illegal.
    So I brought it back, threw him the keys, and never saw him again. That was 30 years ago.

    I used to ride my bike (far) to the only true US Car dealership in Munich in the early 80s ... set up in a tent sort of thing and named 'Baretta' .. only to hide in some dark corner ready to jump into one of those ships when Mr. B. was busy in his booth . I will never forget the thrill I got from sitting low behind the wheel being hypnotized by that exotic gauge ensemble and the view over two fins :)

That gorgeous blue with the white and black interior is choice. A convertible too, and you're done. I'd only sell it to someone who promised to keep it original.

    You want to hit the jackpot of corvettes? Forget about the stingray and find a 1967-1969 Chevrolet Manta Ray! One of the most beautiful corvettes ever produced, light years before it's time! 💕😇 I'd kill for one of those! 🤗

    • @nigelpickering5433
      @nigelpickering5433 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I respectfully disagree. To me the 1967-9 Manta Ray looks like a corny attempt at making a superhero car. This 1970 stringray however, is a high-tide watermark of American automotive design ... at its perfection. It’s breathtakingly beautiful. 👏 😢

    • @davidc3857
      @davidc3857 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nigelpickering5433 Let.me first say that I truly love all the years and variations of the Corvette. I imaging that I chose the 67 Manta ray because of my childhood desire to own one, I used to have an HO slot car track & collected many cars to use on my track, for some reason the Manta Ray just clicked & I loved it, another few of my favorites are a 63 split window, a 67, a 69 with an aluminum L88 and the 1960 model.... and especially the 1970 Mako Shark, if I had my way, I'd own a 70 Mako Shark before the Manta
      Ray or any of the others, the 63 split window coupe would be a very close second though! 😁 What can I say, I love all of them (with the possible exception of the 74-75 style corvettes where the drastically changed the rear portion of the car & replaced the classic lines of the late 60s- early 70s rear side with fixed, metal/ chromed bumpers and swapped them out with a rubber/plastic rear portion of the car that incorporated the new rubber bumper with the car body.... I'm truly sorry but I hated that, it killed the whole stylish look of the car! 🤔 Either way, to each his own.... Everybody has their own distinct preferences of the Corvette stylings! 👍

      @@davidc3857 Thanks for your reply. I really appreciate you taking my comments in the tone they were meant, that is, with respect. I can see from your very informed comments that you are very passionate about these cars and know a great deal, so thanks for sharing that understanding. They are all truly works of art, but as you say, each to their own in terms of a preference. Just for the record I am English, and nowhere near as knowledgable as you. I've only ever seen a couple in real life a1970 and 1972 models. However, let me tell you it was 1978 when Matchbox cars produced a Corvette, I was 7 years old, and immediately I fell in love. I couldn't believe such a stylish car with those curves existed.
      I have to say in terms of all cars from the height of Americana, the Covette is head and shoulders the best design. I love the muscles and pony cars but this sports car for me is the true high point of what America had to offer when it produced works of art for the masses. Perhaps its magic is only second to Jaguar XKE (E-type) series 1. Its unlikely that i will ever be able to own or drive either, but communicating with informed gentlemen as yourself makes that childhood dream of knowing them just a little closer to reality.

      @@nigelpickering5433 Bravo my friend, you indeed are a connoisseur of fine automobiles! We both share an immense passion and deep love for these magnificent moving works of pure art! I share your passion about the Jag too, what a magnificent beast that was, and the lines of it's body were sheer poetry in motion. Ahhh, it's wonderful to see someone who's as passionate about this art as I am. For what it's worth, I have a deep appreciation for many different types, makes & models of fine automobiles. I have a thing for Aston Martin's, love them, I idolize the DBX,DBS, DB11, and good grief, don't get me started about the Vantage! 💕 When I was a young boy back in 1965 the International Automobile Exposition was in town & they had a segment they brought you into an arena which they had the actual Aston Martin DB5 which appeared in the James Bond film Goldfinger! What a thrill that was! They drove the car in the small stadium where we watched them put that car through all of the trick functions that they used in the movie, afterwards we were allowed to view the car up close..... What a thrill of a lifetime for a young boy who idealized the car, James Bond movies and especially Sir Sean Connery. Unfortunately Mr Connery wasn't there but that car gave me butterflies in my stomach! That was 56 years ago, I remember that day like it was embedded in my memory! I feel the same way you do it it's highly unlikely I'll ever have enough money to spend in beautiful, iconic works of art like these that were talking about but I have a TH-cam folder where there are some of these fine automobiles up for sale and I constantly add to this folder & view it frequently.... L
      With some luck, maybe someday I'll be able to purchase one or more of these magnificent automobiles... This goes for you too, keep your dream alive! After all, you never know? 😁 I play the lottery so I can dream about this.... Like I said you never know! If I ever hit that jackpot I'll hunt you down, put you on a plane & well attend a high end automobile auction & I'll purchase the Corvette you like so much for you & have it shipped also... My compensation in this situation would be your expression and the look of sheer delight on your face! Keep the faith my friend, you never know what the future may bring! 👍 Have a most wonderful day, thanks for your insightful & thoughtful views! Consider me a friend we have a lot of the same type of passion for these fine works of functioning art! 😎

      Jovan Bethel It really depends on what condition the one you will purchase is in! Try and find one that the owner took meticulous care of, fixed all of the issues and check everywhere for rust, just to give yourself the best investment and to allow for the most use on nice sunny days!

    So, if I had Musk money, well it wouldn't take that much, I would drop a '69-72 body on a C-7 frame. Looks and handling. IMO the new Vettes aren't even Vettes. They are too zoomie for me.

    Astro Ventilation. Worst car I ever loved. Handled like it was on rails until time to turn but it did turn heads. Mine was base model 300hp in what they call Manza Red (orange). It looked nice when I had an old man named Scotty redo it in Porche red. A complete strip, door jams and everything visible redone in Imron for 1200 dollars!
