    I think the drop-caps are beautiful, but it ultimately came down to owning one premium Bible. The Stridon offered everything I want, so that's what I chose. I purchased the Marbled Mahogany Calfskin. It's gorgeous!

      I am looking for something like the Traveris where its single column with the verses to the very left of the page, but don't care for the colored edges of the pages, I prefer hard cover, & I like seeing the chapter numbers. Any suggestions?

    Thank-you for this video! Now, that’s it’s getting close to the ESV Stridon coming out I wanted to compare it to the Trevaris and of course you had the video I needed to watch! Again thank-you!! I’m now even more confident that I would like to get the Stridon!! 😊

      Agree 💯….I have way too many Bibles - including Schuyler KJV Canterbury + many (for me) others. I’m tired of buying Bibles 😂….. I find myself reaching for my ESV Firebrick Red Treveris over all of them. I’m way too easily distracted & can get very distracted. ADHD to the max.
      ESV Treveris is the one Bible I tend to read for extended periods. I actually get immersed in the Scriptures - away from knowledge seeking & my Spirit seems fed. Just love it. Me, Treveris + Holy Spirit.

    I prefer the Treveris. It reads like a normal book. For me, a single column is a must and for this reason, I have both the ESV and KJV of the Treveris. My first single-column experience was with the Cambridge Clarion. Haven't looked back.

      For reading the Bible like a regular book, check out Crossway's 6-volume ESV Readers set, too. I think it's still available. It's beautiful, has regular book paper and no additions to the text. I love it! Mine is black leather hardback in a wooden case but there is a fabric covered hardback set that's not as expensive. I've never seen anything to compare for ease of reading a Bible. I love Schuyler Bibles too and have many of them.

    I own both formats but if I were to choose a preference, I prefer the Stridon. I have a preference for verse-by-verse , single column format. It's great for preaching and studying and this can pass off as a reader if need be. Thanks for the video comparison, Tim!

    Very helpful. I'm a Schuyler fanatic and have bought many, but neither of these two newer ones.
    I like the Stridon better. The text looks too dense on the Treveris, maybe not enough leading to suit me. Both are beautiful Bibles, though.

  • @kimwingert8967
    @kimwingert8967 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I love my Treveris, it is beautiful and feels like butter, but if I had to, I would choose the Stridon. I copy verses from my reading every day so it is sometimes difficult with the Treveris to know the verse number. I also cant read without wanting to know more, so not having cross references is inconvenient for me. I have a Stridon just need to make the switch. (My Stridon is green goatskin but feels like calfskin-a wonderful surprise!)

    Between a single-column VBV and a single-column reader -- neither of which I currently own at this time -- I'm more likely to go for a single-column VBV first (Go Stridon!!). Would I turn away a single-column reader? No. But first things first -- Stridon.
    It's getting HARDER and HARDER to pick out a first Schuyler!! (ESV comparison of Quentel vs. PSQ vs. WM Quentel vs. Treveris vs. Stridon? Can't wait to see that video, and Can't wait to get that headache trying to decide!!)

    I am not a fan of the Stridon, but love the Treveris which I happen to have in KJV and is a real pleasure to read from. The Treveris in ESV would be a wonderful addition for me. The size of the Treveris is a perfect size in my female hands, too, next to my PSQ’s.

    As far as picking one over the other. I'd likely use the EVS Treveris over the Stridon. The EVS Study Bible (Crossway) already provides ALL my reference needs. That said, I love the ability to simply read the Word of God without distraction.

  • @TenRedux
    @TenRedux 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    The Stridon is close to the perfect format for me, so I'd welcome any translation for it. However, I wish they'd gone with the '95 NASB to start, but that won't happen, unfortunately. I still got one in slate goatskin though 😬😁.

    • @waynehalford9957
      @waynehalford9957 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why do you prefer the 95 NASB? Just curious as I'm about to purchase a new RL Allan in the 95 text.

    • @TenRedux
      @TenRedux 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@waynehalford9957 It feels more consistent to me in terms of word choice. The 2020 will read closely to the '95 but then will suddenly switch to using simpler phrases (unnecessarily so, I think), so it's a little jarring at times. The 2020 also seems to have a lot more supplied words to smooth the English, which is distracting due to the italic formatting of such words or phrases. My observations are only based on casual reading though, so experiences will vary.

    can anyone compare the Schuyler Stridon and Quentel against the Cambridge Topaz for me please. I am seeking my very 1st premium bible and i am on limited income so i cannot redo this purchase and it will be my primary long term bible ..... maybe for next decade.
    I have used the double column ESV bonded leather bible that was about $60 primarily for past 2 decades and it is literally falling apart. Cover is torn from spine. I loved that bible but am going to switch to the KJV which i have never enjoyed reading up to this point so I may just get the NKJV because these truly are more accurate translations. I was shocked and heartbroken to discover my ESV was not a straight translation and had 16 verses actually removed from the bible - some of those not even in footnote form.
    How difficult is it to go to single column from double?
    What do you all think? Which one would you chose from these?
    or which one is your fav and why??
    thanks Fam.
