60hz is the biggest turn off for me, I just can't accept 60hz in 2024 it feels like a joke, 120hz has been the standard for a good few years now. even cheap androids have 120hz, we have gaming monitors pushing 500hz and apple is still releasing devices with 60hz. Such a joke, but not just that, im so accustomed to 120hz that whenever I occasionally use my 12 Pro Max for when im on call for work, it's jarring, how choppy and slow it looks because of 60hz, it's so noticeable going back
So ive seen yours and another review mention it had 8g ram but the only Amazon listing im finding says it has 4, do you think thats just a typo or should i look elsewhere to buy? (For reference target states it has 5?)
@@Richard.Cabeza it's the opposite, they are literally saying its just the previous mini but with a new chip, ofc laymen wont know but you can ask at the store
The person who buys the iPad mini is likely to be the one who has an iPhone and a MacBook. They don't need a big tablet because they have a MacBook. The iPad mini, which is only 7% of Apple tablet sales, is not an important lineup for Apple, and there will be no new iPad mini release for at least two years. Because of this, iPad mini can be discontinued at any time. Except for the still 60Hz LCD, +35% CPU & GPU, 8GB RAM, 128GB storage, Wifi 6GHz, USB 3.2Gen2 is an overall upgrade. Note: A18pro has better performance than M1, CPU performance is 10% higher than A17pro, and GPU performance is 20% higher. In other words, the performance of the iPad mini 7 is about 90% of the M1. Personal opinion: In a year, the iPad Air will be increased by $200 with OLED, and in 2-3 years, the iPad Mini will be increased by 200 dollars with OLED.
Don’t know why everyone is whining about how it’s the design as last, this applies to iPhones too. It’s a good design they don’t need to radically change it just to be different
Thank you! I’m not complaining at all about the form factor or the fact that it uses the same shell/body as the last mini. I’m a fan of the shell/body so I don’t need a redial redesign, just for the individual components (screen, speakers, and battery) to improve
Just bought a mini 6. Replaced a very old mini. Now if I could just get the damned Facebook app to work on it. I've done all the things people say to so and still not dice. Running iOS 18.0.1, latest app version. Have changed passwords, reinstalled, restarted, reset, multiple times. Old app on the old iPad still works. New app won't accept password. Thanks Meta.
60hz is a deal breaker for an iPad that's gonna be used for gaming. They could have atleast put 90hz on this mini. That's sad. Better get the Ipad Air M2 2024. I have the mini 6 and with minimal upgrade, I don't think it's worth it

I also heard the mini 6 cases fit mini7 same size . I also use my mini iPad as a second cell phone with Google voice works awesome a larger iPhone ..Thanks for your review
I know this might not make sense to some, but I think giving your old device to a family member is a much better way to get rid of your old device. Yea, you lose a couple hundred dollars, but they will appreciate a device like a mini6 so so much
Yes, me too. 500 nits brightness, 60hz refresh, in 2024 .... no thanks! If Apple had given us a 1000 nits and 90hz refresh rate, that would have been a decent compromise. But, alas .......
It’s more then 10 years ago Apple launched the mini. And upon till today it still has a 500 nits screen. That really s*cks! This means you still cannot take it outside on a bright or sunny day. After 12 years no progression here. That’s bad engineering!
yup... exactly THIS! and it's the only issue i have with my mini 6. i don't need a 120hz screen.... i'll take it when it's like 1000nits and comes with 120hz, ok nice topping on the cake.
The US price normally is before tax, hence the difference. Still a difference after adding tax to the US price, but a lot less than it initially seems.
I have a 128 gig mini 4. People spent 499.00 for a mini 6 with 64 gig. There was a 150.00 difference between that and 256 gig. On the new I pad there is a 100.00 difference. I am going to buy the 256 gig as I plan to have this iPad a long time. My 128 gig mini 4 lasted 9 years. With AI, you don't know how much memory the other apps are going to eat up so you are covered in that regard. Oh and for the people who don't think this tablet is a seller, Amazon in UK sold out of Wi-Fi only versions, then though the UK customers are denied a plug with their purchase!
@@BrandonButch, but AirPods maxes were not advertised as a new gen, they were just “refreshed” cuz of the eu laws to replace lightning with usb C. iPad mini, on the other hand, was an upgrade, which even says in its name (a17pro), but it’s so minor, they could’ve at least made the screen pro motion for games
@@Saypov This isn't a pro device, it'll likely never get ProMotion. That's what the iPad Pro is in the lineup for. I do think it’ll get OLED next, though
I got iPad mini 7 and so far I like it. I had £100 knocked off price so it was £400. I never owned iPad before but i don't think nothing wrong with it so far. My last tablet was Samsung S6 lite but iPad seems alot faster and better than that and was about £100 more.
I have the mini 6 and it’s not worth the upgrade since it’s the same old display. I think anyone who wants an iPad mini, should look into getting the 6th generation, they’re almost the same as the new one, and they’re not cheaper.
It's good with the minor upgrades, but to have a tablet at this price point and theoretically use it for the next 2 to 3 years and still run on a 60hz display is sort of a dealbreaker for many. That being said, it's still a good-sized tablet.
Brandon, I'm going to be honest. I was waiting and waiting for the ipad mini 7, but I have now decided to go back to samsung for my tab use case. I'm going to be riding out a samsung galaxy S9 Tab for now. Wayyyyyy bettttterrrr in terms of OS, design, bang for your buck, and microsd card slot -> more bang for your buck. 😊
The “jelly scroll” is not due to different refresh rate on the sides of the screen: both are 60 Hz. Is due to the delay between the far points of each ranges with respect to the closest pixels to the controller, when scrolling. Or the opposite, depending on which order (far to close or close to far) of refreshing is using the controller, they are two of them one on the vertical side and the other on the horizontal side. You can see it also in other 60 Hz iPads, depending on how fast is the controller and the screen response. The Apple Watch Ultra shows also same effect
I think many will! I wonder if Apple Intelligence will entice people to upgrade later this year/next year. For me, all it took was always seeing that "low storage" popup to know I needed to upgrade 😭
Still 500 nits? That’s bad engineering! Bezel around the screen still to big. Apple should go Pro with this mini and launch a SE as well. Aka a slightly higher price for he Pro. And lots less for the mini SE.
Yep. Considering the Mini is the one iPad that many of us take with us on the go. And using it outdoor for maps and info, when traveling, means that owners will still struggle with this. 1000 nits would have been acceptable.
Compares to a Chinese and Samsung small tablet this is a lot better but it is not for IPad Mini 6 or even Mini 5 user and price is little high. Screen Bezel is not big of a deal it is better than having a notch on top of the screen. I don’t think 1000nit is possible with LED screen only Mini-LED. Maybe if Apple lets Sony, Sharp, or Panasonic make LED display it might be able to push 1000 nit. Not putting in A18 Pro is rather a weird choice from Apple which always innovate but A17 Pro is faster than Intel Core i7-8850H which can found in a Mobile Workstation laptop and nearly as fast as Apple M1. Battery could have been bigger though iPad Mini or Air is really an user preference
I have the Mini 6 and am thinking of upgrading to the Mini 7. Do you know if cases for the 6 will fit on the 7? It looks as though they have the same exact dimensions, but I didn't want to have to buy a new case for the 7 if possible.
Im using ipad mini 5 now. Im sceptical, should i buy ipad mini 7 or ipad air 11 M2. Since M2 much more powerful and future proof longer. Or just wait for upcoming Apple event🧐. Thank you for the detail comparison.
If it's your first iPad mini then you should get it. If you have the 6th generation then there's not much difference so avoid. And this year its cheaper and has more RAM and storage, and an upgraded chip.
I have not been impressed with the mini 6. Like the size, don’t like the under performance. It wasn’t worth $500.00. I don’t see a compelling reason to flip to the mini 7. Seems to be Apple going through the motions, without major substantive improvements. And, I am an Apple person.
I have no iPad Mini at the moment, but still deciding. It's a great device for note taking for my use case and watching videos. The document scanning also seems appealing. Honestly, I don't mind the 60Hz.
@@SirMopy scrolling animation is feels choopy and clunky to use eitherway and jelly issue is a main cause for that !! iPados is presumably optimiused and designed for bigger screen size thus the sizes of apps and icons feel so misplaced in ipadmini
It’s can’t be eliminated due to being an LCD display. I’m surprised they didn’t use OLED as it is cheaper than people think. Samsung put AMOLED on their cheap Samsung Galaxy Tab I think
I just bought this one and I didn’t have one before but this is a good comparison. I have the iPad Pro 12.9 in from 2022 and wanted the mini more for games. I use my pro for creating my thumbnails, school work and watching movies/youtube.
Don't upgrade. I bought the new one and it overheated to the point where I couldn't even hold it in my hand. I returned it and got a new one and that one overheated too, so I returned it and giving up on this new Mini.
I did the same thing. With a trade of the base to the new base it’s worth it. It’s not worth a $499 purchase though. With that being said I don’t believe Apple ever called this an iPad mini 7. It’s an upgrade to the iPad mini solely to make it fully compatible with Apple AI. Really very little more besides a few quality of life upgrades. It’s not a new gen. It’s a spec bump for the current gen. I bet a new one comes out in a year maybe 2 max. No way another 3 year wait.

So ive seen yours and another review mention it had 8g ram but the only Amazon listing im finding says it has 4, do you think thats just a typo or should i look elsewhere to buy? (For reference target states it has 5?)
I wonder why Apple decided to name it by its chip as opposed to the generation?
Likely for consistency with Macs, but Macs include the year and iPads don’t.
Deceptive marketing? People see "Pro" in the title and get excited.
@@Richard.Cabeza it's the opposite, they are literally saying its just the previous mini but with a new chip, ofc laymen wont know but you can ask at the store
@@Richard.Cabeza pro chip without 'pro-motion' !!! wow apple !! we still buy and welcome your products with open arms !!
Awesome comparison. Definitely on my radar, never owned an Apple tablet before and the size of the 7 is tempting
If you want stickers you have to go to a Apple store and ask for them
yep. They're on their way out 😭😭
I work at an Apple Store, we don’t have them lol
Does the ipad mini 7 support HDR+ and dolby vision? Does it looking good when watching movies or series?
Do you think i should exchange my ipad air m1 (2022) for an ipad mini 7?
I have everything lol
I have the mini 6 and with minimal upgrade, I don't think it's worth it
I upgrading to ipad mini 7 . I am also trading in my iPad mini 6 apple giving me 450 I have 256 gb with cellular … can’t wait to get mini 7 this week .
Yea, you lose a couple hundred dollars, but they will appreciate a device like a mini6 so so much
Upgraded from Mini 5
i’ll patiently wait for a better screen
Sounds like skill issue.
US: $499 = €460,80
EU/NL: €609 = $659,49 (tax 21% incl.)
...something is off set here.
The US price normally is before tax, hence the difference. Still a difference after adding tax to the US price, but a lot less than it initially seems.
I want to buy one of them. I’m thinking of buying the 6 because it’s cheaper, I’m also going to buy it refurbed. Is that a valid reason?
Of course everyone should upgrade for sure.
Great video! I was curious if the existing Apple Pencil would work or do I have to purchase the new model?
Hmmm…perhaps the most minor update I’ve ever seen with an Apple Product? More like iPad mini 6.1.
Minor? Nearly everything changed internally. AirPods Max = the most minor Apple update ever.
@@Saypov dude fk gaming with apple! it's apple.... if you want a mobile gaming device use a different one.
@@SirMopy , iPad mini is literally the most comfortable thing for gaming
@@Saypov This isn't a pro device, it'll likely never get ProMotion. That's what the iPad Pro is in the lineup for. I do think it’ll get OLED next, though
I got iPad mini 7 and so far I like it. I had £100 knocked off price so it was £400. I never owned iPad before but i don't think nothing wrong with it so far. My last tablet was Samsung S6 lite but iPad seems alot faster and better than that and was about £100 more.
OMG YOUR REVIEWS ARE TOP TIER😅 THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!❤ new subbie here😊
1:46 and with the Apple Vision Pros don’t forget that
I have the mini 6 and it’s not worth the upgrade since it’s the same old display. I think anyone who wants an iPad mini, should look into getting the 6th generation, they’re almost the same as the new one, and they’re not cheaper.
128gb, 8gb ram, a17 pro and same price as based model
For new buyer, no brainer take the last gen.
Woah! I think you’re the first reviewer I have seen that broke Final Cut Pro available on the iPad mini 7. Nice Job!
Watching this on my purple mini ❤
They could've decreased the refresh rate to like 16 Hz, because why not. It's Apple. I wouldn't be shocked at all.
Waiting for a iPad MINI PRO
I know it’s coming in 2026 but i’m going to wait. Im using a iPad MINI 3 😊
HOW??
I still have Mini 4. Still works great. Doesnt support many apps but does what I need it to. I might wait for iPad Mini 8. :)
I need an ipad for gaming less than 400$ wich one you recommend
It's good with the minor upgrades, but to have a tablet at this price point and theoretically use it for the next 2 to 3 years and still run on a 60hz display is sort of a dealbreaker for many. That being said, it's still a good-sized tablet.
Rather than trading your old iPad you can just sell it at a higher price
I traded in my mini 6 for the new mini 17 pro. In blue.I also got $230.for my 6.
Would it be worth upgrading from an iPad 9th generation? I usually use my iPad for watching my streaming services and playing games / school work
I went from a pro 2020 to the new mini and it's amazing. I do miss the magic keyboard though.
Awesome review!
thanks!
Lol, you are forced to buy a new Apple Pencil, only the Pro sticks with it.
They made the Mini & a Pro-ish device. Good enough!
Is it worth it to change my iPad Pro m2 for this one ? Due to portability or the performance change a lot of? M2 is way better than a17?
ff this comment bruh!
para alguien que no sabe mucho inglés, le entendí perfectamente a su pronunciación. Gracias!
I’m definitely getting the mini 7 and a snap on controller for games.
I wouldn’t pay more than $300 for that new one.

Let’s talk about new design…
@michaeltelegin34 - Isn't that amazing?! 😅😅😅
@@GPDF innovation
why can he talk about the design part for so long
I’ll keep my mini 6 😅
I think many will! I wonder if Apple Intelligence will entice people to upgrade later this year/next year. For me, all it took was always seeing that "low storage" popup to know I needed to upgrade 😭
No no you give it to me! 👻
@@BrandonButch The increased storage and RAM, and the lower prices this year, are very enticing.
No new engineering with this iPad.
Battery could have been bigger though
iPad Mini or Air is really an user preference
5:17 bros just casually got an unopened iPhone 16 Pro Max to scan like what??
I have the Mini 6 and am thinking of upgrading to the Mini 7. Do you know if cases for the 6 will fit on the 7? It looks as though they have the same exact dimensions, but I didn't want to have to buy a new case for the 7 if possible.
Im using ipad mini 5 now. Im sceptical, should i buy ipad mini 7 or ipad air 11 M2. Since M2 much more powerful and future proof longer. Or just wait for upcoming Apple event🧐. Thank you for the detail comparison.
So is this a iPad mini 7th generation? I am still going to get it but just want some clarity
yes
If it's your first iPad mini then you should get it. If you have the 6th generation then there's not much difference so avoid.
And this year its cheaper and has more RAM and storage, and an upgraded chip.
no, it's a mini 6 with a chip refresh
I’m not gonna buy the 7. I want 120Hz. Your move, Apple.
I got mine too. Its amazing experience. I moved from iPad 9th. For me it was huge upgrade. Only thing is bothering me 60hz screen refresh 😢
I just got my iPad mini starlight ❤ I love it so much ❤
I have not been impressed with the mini 6. Like the size, don’t like the under performance. It wasn’t worth $500.00. I don’t see a compelling reason to flip to the mini 7. Seems to be Apple going through the motions, without major substantive improvements. And, I am an Apple person.
Why everyone is yapping 500$ device it's not 1000$ 4gb to 8gb ram 128rom to 256rom no jelly scroll A15 to A17.
I have no iPad Mini at the moment, but still deciding. It's a great device for note taking for my use case and watching videos.
The document scanning also seems appealing.
Honestly, I don't mind the 60Hz.
I just bought a new 16 pro max with one TB. So I still have my iPad Pro.
So this was it after 3 years?😂😂😂
What do you use it for thought? The same with iPad lol I've never had one, just borrowed
After 3 years it doesn’t even get the current iPhone’s chip like the last one did lol
I bought the iPad mini 6 less than a year ago and I think I’m good with it for a while
60hz LCD peasant screen on a device over $299 is a non-starter for me
As soon as they include 120hz they can take my money
@@PrestoMoto02 haha you’ll be keeping your money for a while
90hz would have been a decent compromise.
Even the iPhone 16's dont support 120hz thanks to Apple capping it to 80hz. :( That's a bad apple!
get 11inch m4pro then it'll hav enough to take ur money
Still has jelly scroll just not as bad as mini 6.
you only see it if you go full slow motion with your own eyes WHICH IS NOT POSSIBLE DUDE
That's not a pencil connector, that's an antenna band. The magnets are in different locations
I just bought this one and I didn’t have one before but this is a good comparison. I have the iPad Pro 12.9 in from 2022 and wanted the mini more for games. I use my pro for creating my thumbnails, school work and watching movies/youtube.
I am waiting for the OLED display
I just want a Ipad Pro in the Mini size
No way another 3 year wait.
for jelly scrolling is not bothering me at all. and the performance is still powerful. so im gonna stay with my ipad mini 6
Uograded w Best Buy's $260 trade in offer on the 6. More ram, new battery, warranty and double the storage for $250.
