Kind of a silly question coming your way…Typically, how long does it take you guys to put out a song, meaning from conception to production to distribution. Do you start with the music first then do lyrics, or is it the other way around? Or do you guys work on it as it comes to you? I’m just curious. 🙂
you have to write the song first (time depends on your skills and inspiration) then production which can take 8 to 50 hours and then mixing and mastering which van take 8 to 16 hours
It depends on the song! Usually Gabe and I brainstorm concepts first. Then I’ll start production and top line ideas. Once I have a few demos I’ll send them to Gabe and he will choose his favorite and start writing the lyrics and additional melodies. Then we’ll meet back together, finalize the top line and lyrics and record all the vocals. Then I’ll finish production around the vocals and mix and master. While I’m mixing and mastering Gabe will make the artwork. Then we’ll upload for distribution. All in all it takes about a week from concept to upload.

So my question for you is what your recommendation would be if I wanted to learn start music production and songwriting. Or more specifically, what DAW would you recommend getting started with?

how did you make the awesome midi/how long did that take? do you have any tricks for composing entire songs like that, that don't have only 1 or 2 melodies?

(Not related to the music, but i really like how you used to write "love u" at the end of the descriptions. It makes me feel like you're closer to your fans.)
Hey dude! I use them both equally. Most of the time I run my vocal through cl1b before going into the box and I’ll use settings similar to how I’d set up the 1176. But if I’m not running through the cl1b I’ll use an 1176 first on my chain before eq and then into the la2a. The only time I’ll use cl1b into 1176 and NOT use la2a is for acoustic songs where the vocal doesn’t need to push forward as much in the mix. But that’s just me! I could be doing it completely wrong haha
@@Baasikmusic makes total sense. Didn't realize you were running a CL1B. Very nice. I've been running into the 1176 fairly hot and then hitting it again with that 2A to really push the lead vocal out to the front. Can definitely see you not needing that extra push when you strip some things back. You run an F6 or anything to help clear up some EQ when the vocal really pushes it or you try to notch most of that out on your channel EQ?
@@Baasikmusic thanks for answer! Although i was more interested in the resampling and chopping part. Do you just do 'random' bass parts, bounce them, and just go through the samples and chop the parts you like?
some of the individual reacks sound like awefull by themselves cause they are either cut off high or low, and that's just surprising to me cuz when added with the other tracks it sounds amazing. I guess you have to remove some sound off the top so it doesn't interfere with others? idk I have never seen this before. Usually like the vocals or drums and what not sound perfectly fine by themselves in songs. I hope you know what I mean with my comment

I’ll tell you right now that the first step is to browse serum presets in splice haha. Then tweak tweak tweak.
