  • Millions of residents in northern Nigeria have been placed under 24-hour curfews amid nationwide protests against the high cost of living.
    Governments in the states of Kano, Jigawa, Yobe and Katsina have ordered locals not to leave their homes - and therefore not attend protests - on Friday.
    There is a heavy security presence around the country with nine more "days of rage" scheduled by the movement's organisers.
    The nationwide demonstrations were organised via social media using the hashtag #EndBadGovernance and according to rights group Amnesty International, 13 protesters across Nigeria were killed by security forces on the first day of the protests.

Then I left also back to Germany. Since then I have decided not to come to Nigeria anymore. Today I am 80 and I have never seen any Thing better in Nigeria which someone can be proud of about the Government. People are getting poorer and hungry while some are birthing with money and riding 3-6 Cars or more. Let the young ones rule and the old leave the Seats for them. This is my Opinion. Engr Fagbuyi

    President Tinubu had disappointed Nigerians because his predecessor Buhari had basterdise the Economy, thinking that as he came in after Buhari things with Will be better but reverse is the case, Buhari had wasted 10years of someone's life, and he had started making bad policies that affect the people and plunge every Nigerians into poverty, we are tired of him, he should just leave Nigeria alone we are getting old every day and we can not waste another 8years in poverty and hardship, before they took over in 2015 a dollar is $1=#150 but now it is $1=#1500. That is the gap, but those that are in government are enjoying and milking the Nigerian people.

    Thanks of the organizers of this endbad government protest. I heard you are saying that 13people are killed. In my state alone people that are killed are above 13. So, forget about the said figures. See, this protest has come at the rigt time. We are talking of N70,000 minimum wage, well, this amount can't do anything compared to the present inflation rate as a result of removal of fuel subsidy. However, the case in the northern Nigeria is quite different. People are dieing in silence in the north. Could you believe that the problems of the country are cause by some wicked governors especially in north who treats civil servants as slaves and nobody, in the since that either the N30,000 minimum wage nor the N18,000 minimum wage has been implemented. Some governors are still paying N5,000 minimum wage and if one dear complains or write on social media of the happenings, that person will be black listed, stopped the small salary for months or years and that create fears in others so no body dear fits to complains again. 10 years with 2 or 3 promotions without financial benefits. The so called labours are government agents who are their loyalist. This protest comes timely for civil servants in the north. May God exposed them the more. God has different ways of salvaging Nigerians from bad leaders. What is being said is the true picture of what is obtainable in the north. Please verified some people in local government in the north are still collecting N7,000 as monthly salary. Verified, in the north even the N18,000 or N5,000 minimum wage they government is paying. some are still receiving what they are receiving 10 or 12 year back despite 2 or 3 promotions. It's shameful, unfortunate. painful, inhumane treatment for civil servants in the north. So help us God.

President Tinubu released them immediately after he had meeting with the U.K high commissioner in Nigeria. Read Nigeria's history and you will see that there was a company called Niger Company registered in the U.K by our colonial masters and used for taking our natural resources to U.K in the 19th-mid 20th century. It was the Niger Company that Lord Frederick Lugard and her mistress Miss Flora Shaw coined to form the name Nigeria.

      I get sad hearing folks call for outside 'help,' it will only ever be self serving. Any country will lump you with something you'll have to pay them a fortune to keep running. They'll offer to buy your services and 'invest' in them, only to increase costs 10fold and forever be foreign owned.
      Learn the old ways of land and water management and the earth will show its bounty. If the ancient sumerians can do it, you can too. Concentrate on food, steel and coal/oil/gas/timber, whatever you have. Make quarries then turn them into lakes and fisheries. Import only machines of manufacture. Put tariffs on everything else. Research feudal economies, don't be an unbalanced victim of the global economy. Prioritize production & export of mid level products, like nails, bricks, timber, gears, wire, tiles, chemicals etc, things that your own people can make use of to develop their own skill and craft.

    As a Nigerian myself, I commend Nigeria government for taking to bold steps to remove fuel subsidy and currency subsidy. It is not possible to continue to subsidies fuel and Naira through borrowing forever. We have abundance of sun in Nigeria, a shift to electric cars with free solar electricity will reduce the use of petrol by over 70% in Nigeria. We can turn to renewable energy with a cleaner energy source.

      Solar is very expensive, electric batteries and cars even moreso. If we can't afford it in the rich countries, now can Nigeria? No, you'll just get people pocketing money for doomed to fail schemes on false promises.
      I agree the subsidies and borrowing need to end. But in terms of power and fuel, look at dams, trains, and fuel synthesization/gas production. Land utilization is vital, we have a thousand years of agricultural terraforming and mining Nigeria is still largely untapped. Trees are the best use of Nigeria's solar energy. Gasifiers can easily power cars from wood. Look at the techniques used by the germans in ww2 when they were cut off from oil.
      Stop taking other countries lead, they are self interested. Find your own economic advantages. Buying solar from china or the west will NEVER raise up Nigeria, I guarantee it.

    • @brightolay8346
      @brightolay8346 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @mandowarrior123 Solar is not expensive in Nigeria. I paid £1300 for my home and generated 5500watt electricity daily. These include my solar panels of 2400watt, 5.5kva inverters, 2 numbers of 230ah batteries and everything else. Pure Electric, a Chinese company, just opened in Uganda. We can have the same in Nigeria. Their electric cars are the same amount of used cars coming from Europe and America to Nigeria. In the sunny afternoon, I should be able to charge my electric cars and use it without paying anything for fuel. Destroying forests for energy is not wise.
