I'm saving right now. I'm an old dude, life hasn't permitted me to really have the time and opportunity to get into sim racing . But . In the 1980's I knew I'd always want to do this. Now. I'm in my early 50's just downloaded race room and lfs . And I'm using a controller. Saving my pennies for a Logitech wheel for my PC . My preteen daughter already loves it . Can't wait to teach her how to really drive. I learned to drive playing Night Driver in 1976. Then moved on to Hard Drivin.. before I got my license. Had a go-kart. I'm super excited about getting my own setup... Finally ..
Bought a g29 a couple years ago with the intention of just playing things like forza horizon, beamng and now I have a full setup with a simagic alpha mini and p1000 pedals with haptic reactors bolted to a full frame and a VR headset for it all. It's genuinely amazing and I can spend 10+ hours in it with ease. Next step is to get a frame motion setup but I gotta get my own place for that first. the g29 is a GREAT intro because it has compatibility with literally everything. I could not find a game(that I cared about) that didnt allow for me to use my g29.
Super GT made a comparison of both the controller and steering wheel on gran turismo sport and his lap times were the same but the wheel greatly preserved tyre wear
Controller players: don't give up too fast. Just watching Suellio's videos and implementing them has sped me up by nearly a second on controller on most tracks
I think it also depends on what are your setup possibilities. Back in 2020 I bought a driving force gt and modded it, to try it in a more "easy way" and I didn't enjoy my experience at all... I had to unmount everything, put it back to its place and a 25 minutes race became an hour long process. I started and then abandoned simracing, until then I tried again with a controller and, surprisingly, I enjoyed my experience much more, I became more consistent and, most of all, I started having more fun. Don't get me wrong, the wheel is still the best solution ever, but, if your desktop is thin and you don't have the space for it, I think that having a good pad could beat having a crappy wheel setup
Same I bought a wheel I hated mounting it and everything. So I returned it just for later to rebuy it when my friends got into it too. It’s more fun now.
It was a whole new world when we moved from a G29 to a Logitech G Pro wheel and Pedals. G29 still works perfectly, but it is permanently shelved after up-grading to DD and load cell pedals.
I don't agree with "There is no way back" statement. It's always good to have some light alternatives. Old NFS Most Wanted still rocks and is a very nice to chill with Controller when done fighting with a wheel. Heck even Horizon 4 was pleasant with Controller and having Racing basics gave some advantages over non sim focused players.
I will say this: With the new conrollers that have hall effect thumbsticks, I have a Gamesir G7 se controller, and I am now able to get that percision. I am by no means discounting this video. I just love the challenge of being good with a controller. Some may laugh, but I play PC1, and I really enjoy it. I don't have a gaming PC, only xbox series x. I get it..... iracing is going to be considered one of, if not the best, sim out there. Edit: I also have Assetto Corsa and Assetto Corsa Competizione.
Just one more ingredient.. seat..do you agree with me it makes a huge effect how you position yourself at racing...can you make an episode about this pls 🙏
I'm pretty sure it does, especially with getting accurate braking since for example you don't have a stand. Pushing heavily on a load cell pedal could push ur chair or tilt it back.
Went from a controller to a CAMMUS C5. I went from Forza to Assetto Corsa with LFM/iRacing I went from having fun, to being completely and utterly hooked. Found out I have HyperFocus and true love for this hobby. I Go DD.

I’m in this phase right now. Looking to get a Logitech G Pro set too. I’m finding some trouble in transiting from PS5 and GT7 and wanting to play that on a wheel but am definitely wanting to get in full sim action. I’m currently planning a PC build and Rig build to get it all done
Sup Suellio, I would like a video lesson with braking. I'm not asking for a full lesson, just a tip. I don't know how to play with rpm and sometimes i have to face downshift protection. My shift time is so bad...
I'm brand new to this, but a controller was 100% unusable on AC for me. I'd tried sim racing on full-blown, 25nm rigs 2x before getting AC on PC. A week in, I'm on a wheel. It's a necessity to actually try and improve.
I came back to controller I play rally games, and sometimes controller simply feels better in WRC9/10 that's the case in Dirt Rally 2.0 it is 50/50 and Forza Horizon qlso 5050

I have the Gamesir G7 se. It has hall effect thumbsticks and triggers. I play mostly PC1, even though I have Assetto Corsa and Assetto corsa competizione. I get precision in the handling, breaking, and acceleration. It is a wired controller. But if you want wireless, Gamesir does have one, and there are other hall effect controller brands out there. I like wired because of not having to worry about charging and latency. The G7 se also has trigger motors as well as the rumble motors in the grip handles. You will not get this level of precision with potentiometer thumbsticks. I have some good potentiometer controllers, even with zero dead zones, which is a must to begin to even start having the precision.
@@tcrviper Hello there @tcrviper! Thank you so much for your thorough recommendation. I am using F710 from Logitech, it is a wireless controller, however as you mentioned, most of the time it just disconnects or stops working for brief moment, and it can ruin your gameplay. I watched a lot of videos about controllers, and also about the latency. High end wireless controllers such as Elite 2 the latency is negligable, and some times even lower than wired connection. I was looking at this gamepad too, however no one from my friends gave this brand a chance, so I am a little bit skeptic about it. Was also looking at Xbox carbon wireless in the same price category, but I am still hesitant. Anyway I might give Gamesir a chance, and see for myself.

Don‘t oversteer in the first place 😉 honestly there is probably a reason why you spin. Try to identify that and fix it (e.g. too aggressive throttle input)
@@BiRRdYYChannelyep, prevention is better than the cure. Guy is probably on the throttle too hard while turning, jumping off the brake or throttle too fast on turn in or brake bias is set up wrong or a combination of these and other things.
I'm a noob, but I usually use one of two techniques to correct my oversteer. Depending on where the track is when I lose the car, I either lift a little and countersteer if necessary or give it some extra throttle while turning in a bit more to get it pointed back in the right direction. I find that I can correct it faster when I return the wheel to as close to straight as it can go without spinning the car even more while making the corrective steering inputs. Try to be smooth with the inputs or you might upset the car even more. Like the other guys are saying, it's best to try not to oversteer in the first place. Don't give it too much gas on exit without also releasing some steering. Like I said, I'm not an expert, but these are some things I've figured out so far.
I have ps5 with gt7/ea wrc and i just cant play on the controller, without aids i prolly wont go through the course unless super slow. I’m thinking of getting a rig, with seat etc. Budget maybe €2k - if I dont like it i will just sell it on. What should I get?
Hey suellio. I used to have a ferrari 458 thrustmaster but it was only for xbox nad its pretty bad. Do you think the moza r5 bundle is good for a beginner?
if the game that someone is playing support mouse for steering its much better, you can have much more control of the steering (if you dont have money like me)
Playing racing games with controller is fun but kinda left me feeling wanting for more control of the car. Even the entry level wheel like G29 gives you better control of the car that will significantly improve your lap times.
Good vid would disagree with buying a g29 tho old tech gear driven piece of 💩 better of saving the extra 150 and getting the ready to race csl dd bundle
Absolutely do not buy any pedal set or pedal wheel combo that does not have a load cell on the brakes. Otherwise you will probably learn bad habits and then waste time un-learning them when you eventually come to the realization that you needed a load cell brake.
