  • I'm still a long way from mastering Houdini, but this is a collection of 1000 hours of learning this powerful 3D animation and VFX software. Work from my first steps as a beginner to my later progressions. Along the way, I'll keep sharing my experiences, challenges, and successes, and I'd like to give a shout out to some of the amazing Houdini mentors who have helped me along the way, such as JohnKunz and everyone on his discord, Matt Estela from cgwiki/Tokeru, Steven Knipping and the guys from AppliedHoudini. Whether you're a seasoned pro or just starting out with Houdini, I hope you enjoy!
    Next up is combining this with Unreal Engine!

    My mind is blown away by this amazing work
    I'm still a beginner I tried to create something like that fluid dancing guy but I couldn't really get the his shape to look like a human at all

      @MitchellSaunders  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks I appreciate it! I definitely think starting with the simple stuff is crucial. I think there's a new series called learning Houdini correctly or you're learning Houdini wrong, something like that and people have said it's great!

    @ahmedmohamed-ct8st ปีที่แล้ว

    Very nice and clean, I have been thinking about moving to Houdini as well would you share any resources that helped you, and what render engine did you have is it a built in like karma or external like redshift

    • @MitchellSaunders
      @MitchellSaunders  ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks for sharing, really puts things into perspective.
    Houdini apprentice here... my ultimate goal for learning Houdini is to use it for modeling and 3D printing complex abstract sculptures; I know ZBrush or Blender are already used for that end, but some of my 2D concepts are just too complex to sculpt or model by "traditional" means, (maybe I´m just a lazy bastard and I just don´t have the disposition to spend hours working on myriad details, "by hand" ). I´ve seen impressive abstract work by some artists working with Houdini, procedural seems to me the way to go, but there´s very little information out there about Houdini being used for physical output. Most of the learning material out there is VFX-oriented.
    Would you say Houdini is the way to go or should I invest my time and efforts elsewhere?

    • @MitchellSaunders
      @MitchellSaunders  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's definitely a steep learning curve but the possibilities are almost limitless in terms of what you mentioned, so I think it just depends how much you want to make your idea
