I have watched sooo many of these types of videos on how to make continuous bias binding and this is the only one that I have been able to follow. Thank you so much, now I can get my granddaughters quilt completed!!
I totally agree. Every other video tutorial I've watched on this has been so frustrating. They either go too fast and don't explain things properly or they leave parts out assuming we can read their minds....This tutorial is by far the best explained yet. Thank you so much. I'm in the process of making bias tape right now and this has been so very helpful.
Thank you so much for this! About the 5th one I watched, but the first one I could follow easily. Beautifully done and you've saved me hours of frustration!
I have to do the same thing when I find a technique that makes it so much easier but I don’t do it often enough to remember all the steps. Thank you for your kind words.
Thank you so much for sharing this video. The continuous bias cut such as this will help me make some clean - cut borders for the projects I'm wanting to make - including few rope baskets.
Thanks! Appreciate you sharing the fabric does *not* need to be a precise square. The extra rectangular shape of fabric (after folding and cutting on the diagonal) is so much more valuable to make as much much bias binding as possible than having a random scrap left over. I've watched countless videos on the process and I wish I saw yours first! I agree with others, you should consider doing more videos. Great instruction and clear visual of what you are doing ... truly appreciate you sharing your sewing knowledge!
Thank you so much Patty Spencer for doing such an awesome job on showing us how to do a continuous Bias. I watched another video over and over and boy did I have a mess on my hands. With you, you were spot on, very easy to comprehend and I loved how you explained everything as you went through the steps. Thank you for such an AWESOME VIDEO. You were FANTASTIC!
Thank you for filming from above, reasonably close to the viewer, so we can actually see what you're doing! I've watched more than one sewing/craft tutorial where the person's body/hands block the viewer so I can't see clearly.
I watched other videos but yours was the one that I understood I purchased fat quarters just to practice and I rather make then instead of purchasing. Thank you
Thank God for this video! I spent an hour watching another one, same method, but this video explains that the "tube" is SUPPOSED to be wonky and also shows exactly what that means. The other video didn't specifically mention this and I was getting really frustrated about the whole thing - only to find out I had been doing it right all along even if it looked wrong. THANK YOU!!
thankyou thank you thankyou i have just been tearing my hair out, have watched so many videos and looked through so many of my sewing books and had just decided i must be sooo thick or having' fibro fog,' because i could not understand how to fold the triangles. i have even cut my fat quarter into a square because that's what i had seen on one channel. and then 'inspiration' just as i was going to give up the idea a buy some, here you are just popped up on my youtube. please be assured that you have helped me so much by giving me my confidence and motivation back thank goodness i found you xxx
Have only just found you video. Thank you for an excellent tutorial. I have never mastered the art of continuous bias binding until I saw your video which is so easy to follow.
Excellent video! The offset piece is the hardest part to understand and cutting it before sewing makes the whole process easier to understand. PS: Standing with your back to the camera is the only way I can fully understand the process. Thanks so much.
Excellent video!! I've never made bias tape before and now I feel like I can do it! Thank you! Also, as a mathematics student I loved that you used the term "parallelogram". :)
I love the tip to cut the line on the one point.... Also that channeled cutting ruler I saw one even handles it just a week ore so ago. Now it makes sense in how to use it.... I like piped edges... not sure I understood what you’re going to use all your piped bias for. Although I remember thinking that channeled ruler wasn’t a thick enough plastic and how careful one would have to be so that kids don’t play with it or it drop and hit a hard floor the wrong way. But now I see a actual need for one of those. I saw it at Joann’s and although they have plenty of cutting guides they rarely have the coolest ones. Thanks for your video Keep making them.
Everyone else says you must start with a square. So glad to be able to use a rectangle, as that’s what fat quarters are. Happy not to have much waste. Thankyou Can I just add, do not use a Frixion pen ! When I was ironing my seam open, I removed my carefully marked lines.
You're so sweet Lori! I told my husband that we should do another video, but I'm not sure what it should be about. I'm big into organizing my sewing room. And I love a lot of sewing notions/tools. I'll have to think about that. And I'm always open to suggestions. 😄
Hi Patsy, thank you for this video, I love it, easy to follow but also will appreciate very much if you let me know what brand of Iron you have. Thank you again
It's an old Rowenta with a water tank. I now use that one for ironing clothing rather than using it in my sewing room. I've had a Rowenta since then, a Reliable, and a Sunbeam. I've seen recommendations all over the spectrum. Some like an old $10 iron from a thrift store, cheap one from WalMart, or some cheaper ones from Amazon. I think it ends up being a matter of personal choice. Sometimes you get lucky & get an iron that lasts a LONG time! And other times, it'll spit, break, doesn't heat up, etc. The struggle is real. :-)
Thank you! This is a great tutorial! Attempting my first zelf made piping now. Would you know how to find the ruler with the chanel? It looks so handy!
+Lieve Ongenae OH NO! I'm sorry I didn't respond earlier. This is my very first TH-cam video & I forgot to look at comments. I got this one from Pam Damour. www.pamdamour.com
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I thought I understood how to make it and the lines much up perfectly, but mine is not continual. I couldn's figure out my mistake. Please, help me what could be the possible mistakes I made.
Mine never line up perfectly. I try my best to make the bias width about 2" and, as I roll the tube around while I cut, I probably cut towards the line I have marked. They do not always line up. Does this help? If I know that my bias strips won't be perfect in width, I make them wider so I have room for mistakes! Because I certainly make my share of mistakes!
Here are some vendors: www.sewingmachinesplus.com/GPTTO.php?gclid=Cj0KCQjw84anBhCtARIsAISI-xfkCqYTNNscMsZpfJdZHNk9JsgFiCkVVkTSIOEsgpPlDqVxoQ-DZwoaAs9hEALw_wcB www.pamdamour.com/shop/c/p/5-in-1-Ruler-x64236155.htm
Love your video, but I get confused because you can't tell if you are showing right or wrong side of material. I wish you would have used a fabric that showed what side you were working on :(
Your video was perfect. Never thought of using that kind of marker but I I will now. Many good tips & instructions. Thanks for the prompt response. Vilda
Here's the link: www.pamdamour.com/headboard-cleat-clone.html There may be other vendors but this one covers 2 sizes of piping. I saw Pam at the Sewing Expo in Puyallup last week & she has them in stock. The link above doesn't sound right (headboard-cleat), but just look for the Headboard Ruler on her site. Have fun!
@@patsyspencer4746 I think it's my inability to imagine how things ought to be put together. I could never have been an architect! I have trouble with the other folding methods as well, but when you started pulling that piece of material into a bubble or something you just lost me. Apparently, many people could see it, wish i could.
This is an oldie but goodie. A very clear and the best tutorial I've seen for the continuous bias tape. Thank you so much!
I have watched sooo many of these types of videos on how to make continuous bias binding and this is the only one that I have been able to follow. Thank you so much, now I can get my granddaughters quilt completed!!

Brilliant, very easy to follow, very well explained, and filming above her made it easier to see the exact markings. Thankyou
Thank you so much for this! About the 5th one I watched, but the first one I could follow easily. Beautifully done and you've saved me hours of frustration!
Thank you from Wisbech in the uk so easy to do. Now I will finish my French general quilt.
I watcched 7 other bias binding videos and your video explained it best!
Thank you Paula! I’m glad it was helpful.
I learn so much from your videos. Thank you. x
Done this for years, although I have to look it up each time! Bookmarking this, thank you so much
I have to do the same thing when I find a technique that makes it so much easier but I don’t do it often enough to remember all the steps. Thank you for your kind words.
Fudge Factor is a great term! Also your way is much simpler. Thank you

I'm glad you found it helpful!
I just made 13 yards of continuous binding using your tutorial. Thanks so much! You are an excellent teacher.
That is the best explanation I've seen! You are the first to show it with the lines marked, which I really needed! Thank you!!
Thanks! Appreciate you sharing the fabric does *not* need to be a precise square. This is so useful and clear! I'm glad to have found your video. I'll definitely be using this method. Thank you.
Thank u Patsy. Simple easy tutorial.
Thank you for this excellent video! Like leaving the extra strip. So much easier and more fabric!!
I watched other videos but yours was the one that I understood I purchased fat quarters just to practice and I rather make then instead of purchasing. Thank you

Thanks so much for the great instructions. I needed 2.25 inch bias and got 4 yards out of a fat quarter. Amazing.
8 years later-great tutorial
Thanks so much. I only wish I'd seen your video before I wasted time and fabric trying to follow a couple of others 😍
You’re welcome 😊 I always waste a lot of time before I finally figure something out. :-)

The camera angles were so helpful, I could really see what you were doing

+Cuber Yeah, I had to throw a little math in there. Thank you for the comments. I'm glad you'll be making your own piping. Gives you lots of choices.

Thank You!
can you please confirm whether the material at first stage is right or wrong sides together as i keep gettingconfused
San smith - yes, right sides together. It is confusing because I used a solid piece of fabric. If I can help with anything else, let me know!
where can I find that ruler from Pam Demore?
