    So watching that felt like I got tossed in a tornado and then plopped out. I had no idea what the hell was happening but appreciate your obvious knowledge and willingness to share it.

    I legitimately have no idea what was going on other than Belinda was making a model of a shipping container but it was cool to watch. I don't even know what program was getting used so I'm gonna guess this was definitely a more architect friendly video.

    Hey Belinda, I think it would be awesome if you can show the proof in your pudding by creating a draft or product of wooden vs container, all with correlation of your point of much better choices, amongst your many point.
    Love the channel,
    Good vibes from NYC!!

    I wonder why people always leave out the 53ft containers, commonly referred to as "Intermodal containers" or colloquially as "railboxes". They are the most impressive of the shipping container family with steel reinforcement columns about 5ft from either end to support crane operations.

      I see them often (on trucks) but never hear them talked about whenever container homes come up.

    May I ask this question? If you are willing to live in a very small home, then, why not an already constructed RV trailer or, a Single wide mobil home?
    It seems like the same and they have been making small homes for decades.

    Hi there, thank you so much for providing the download. I just tried it in my project and though you made the door angle an instance parameter, I wasn't able to change them individually. When I changed the angle, all the doors changed at the same time. Is there something I'm not doing right? Sorry I'm quite new to Revit.

    • @rickusvanwyk923
      @rickusvanwyk923 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      just go into the family and give each door angle dimension a separate parameter for instance door 1,door 2 and so on this will allow you to control each door separately

    It would be great if shipping containers could be modified for use as construction material after their usable life. They could imbed instructions for obtaining instruction on repurposing the container on a plate in the build.

    Question, I know your thoughts on container homes. I am building a 20’ container travel trailer that can be separated and set on a block foundation if needed. It has 2x4 interior stud walls turned on the side to minimize thermo bridging and so I have continuous gap for rockwool insulation. I’m using pex a plumbing and smart fixtures and appliances. Anyway I got off track; I was wandering if you know anything about exterior thermo paint products to help reduce the heat load? I’lol be using a one ton mini-split heat pump for heating and cooling and I have 3 energy efficient thermo windows for ventilation. This maybe a good video topic! Any ideas?

    I am trying to conduct a solar and thermal analysis for a shipping container house, I downloaded the family which you have provided. But im not able to add different elements to it like doors, window or floor or even add insulation barrier. Can you please help me in how to define the element as steel and how to go about it. It would be of great help
    Thank you

    I'm not even remotely going to act like I know what you're doing with the program as CAD is only something I have dipped my toe in to. What I will do is applaud your attacking this subject with not only information, but an open mind to other possibilities. It's not the subject per se, but more the thought process you're using. I have a feeling that we're looking at a 4 or 5 video series by the time you flesh it out. A playlist would be helpful with that and I look forward to the next installment.

    By the time you mess with all the issues related to this Bad idea, I could build two insulated concrete houses
    The difference is the dimensions and shape can be whatever you want and the conditioned space is healthy
    Steel is highly diamagnetic. I can do insulator concrete that is paramagnetic. This impacts overall health

    Hello … I'm somewhat confused … I last saw a video from your good self and you were "tearing strips off" sea containers (SC) as a building element and now I see this video which appears to me as if you are now condoning the use of SCs Can you please relieve me of my confusion? Thank You

    • @MalcamPrasad
      @MalcamPrasad 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      She is merely providing a resource for civil engineering and architecture students to use so we can replicate the designs in revit. Providing a critical learning resource for something that is industry practice is not advocating the practice. She's just providing a learning tool, not advocating for construction malpractice. In fact, she has a video with shipping containers done right. All she purports is that one needs to exercise caution as this is not a silver bullet but a relevant option with significant constraints.

    Hi Belinda!... an awesome Revit Family, and great video...
    I have a question though: I added this model into my project, but I need it to be cut by the visibility cut plane when it is showed in a plant view (just like with doors families). This since I want to use it as a "room". Do you know how to set this feature?...
    Also, perhaps the "corrugated metal sidding" can be set as a room bounding element as well?... thanks in advance!... and keep on the good work!
