I've been complaining to people for years that the butane canisters never work. Never once has anyone said you need to release pressure and sure enough it works!! Thank you for posting this. Imagine how many people feel really stupid after getting it to work after all these years LOL!!
This reminds me of when I was a first time home owner, got a bottle of caulking. I cut the tip off and nothing came out when I squeezed the bottle. Okay so I got a caulking gun.....still nothing came out. I never punctured the seal LMAO
Thank you for posting this video. It got so annoying having to stop in the middle of a good meth smoke session to go by another lighter. Now I can tweak all night uninterpreted much love!
Bruh the way I grabbed my dried up torch that’s been marinating in my closet without fuel for months, released the pressure like you did and it works fine af 🔥 the way I never knew you had to take out pressure could’ve saved me from buying all the other ones that came after
Thank you man very very helpful I was Soo confused but once I found out I had to release the pressure it worked!!!! Thanks again mate I wish you the best
Press slow. Also use a bleeder if possible. It purges from the 2 ways air is released instead of 1 that you have closed off with a pinpoint to release. That hole and under it both release pressure. Works a lot better!
@@rhuckabee44 I thought it all came out of the top part, the end it lights from. I told 3 of my friends and they said the same thing. "Wow I didn't know that. no wonder it never refilled".
@@RandomCowboy420 It can’t release itself. Try adding water to a birthday balloon and see if you can fill it up with 100% water. Air doesn’t disappear or we’d be dead. More butane gas and less O2 gas.
I don't understand why I always have trouble. I always bleed all the excess before filling it, when I fill it the fluid spurts everywhere and I'll get like 2-3 lights off it then it's empty again... what am I doing to get air in there!?
I fixed the problem. I wasn’t applying enough downward pressure. I really had to put it in there it naturally feels wrong but it gets the job done. You stop when actual fluid starts to spurt out
I let the air out and then put the butane upside down and cover the fill hole, yet it always sprays all over me and I can't ever fill it. I always make sure to let the air out first, but I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Is there a good torch that you would recommend? Thank you in advance 😊
Not bad just be careful not to damage the valve and get an empty ballpoint pen ink plastic clean of anything and that will protect and properly bleed both ends or get a real bleeder tool. Worth it!
Does it have to be completely empty to release the gas and refill it? I wanted to top off a half full blink torch but I don't wanna go releasing the butane accidentally instead.
It does not need to be empty. Hold the torch vertically and, of course, upside-down. Press the torch valve. It won’t hurt anything if a little butane squirts out - that shows you have released all the air.
Not exactly true. You can and will break your refill valve. Air pressure forces everything out breaking it permanently. Not all but cheap ones will. And yes why would you save a second to get less butane in?
How about wen ur smoking and u only getb1 or 2 solid lights and then it acts as if it's dead a buddy showed me last summer how-to purge and he didn't do it anything like u did in this video and seemed way more effective he pressed the valve in but wen the air finished draining he flipped it holding the valve in and it continued to drain again hebdid that likeb3 or 4x but I still can't get mine to come out of limp mode or whatever it's prob is
If I still have butane in my torch and I just want to top it up will doing this waste what I still have in it? Like should I only do this when my torch is properly empty?
Only top off if absolutely necessary and purge some air slowly then add more butane if you know your torch can handle it. Otherwise never do this because it will break it! If anything keep a cartridge with you so you can fill 18ml when its out. They are $2 unless you fill it yourself.
The problem is that the refill butane is not properly seating on the lighter valve. Look for refill butane that has a half-dozen plastic tips molded into the butane cylinder’s plastic cap. Select one that fits snugly over the lighter valve. Press the cylinder onto the plastic tip firmly and hold it there until a spurt of butane shows the lighter is filled.
What’s not shown here is that some butane canisters are sold with a metal stem that will not seal to the torch fill valve. These canisters have a half-dozen tips molded into the cap so the user can select the tip that fits the torch valve. Also, a very small straight-blade screwdriver is easier to use to depress the torch fill valve to release any residual pressure before refilling. Just make sure the blade doesn’t block the valve orifice.
So for anyone having problems. I have a possible solution. I was opening the butane valve to fill it. Then closing it when it was filled. Wasn’t working my brother in law who’s clearly more savvy than me figured out you need to leave the valve open. Hopefully this solves some problems for somebody
I refilled both my torch and lighter.. The torch was working after the refill. But the lighter did not work even though I refilled it. Does anyone know why this would be, why the lighter will not work?

Damn I never knew that my first time trying to re fill I ask the store worker how to refill all he said just poke it in and push so I did that and the whole gas leak on me no wonder
Yeah, why yawl saying don't use that brand??!!? Should know that's the can I just used because my roommate bought it. Probably the cheapest for sure since he picked it up 😅 Seriously, I noticed it seemed to get cold very fast. Is there something about the fuel itself that's more dangerous if accidentally inhaled?
Cause it's super cheap fuel which will clog your lighters. You need to get triple filtered butane or higher even. You can almost always get a lighter to work with good butane like vector.
Well go on and make it then. Since you're so clever and can do so much better. Also, differentiating between seconds and minutes is theoretically very simple too, yet you seem to have had difficulty.

Try using the different tip attachments that are inside the cap of the butane
