The 455 is an awesome saw. I love how fast it cruises through wood, especially hardwood. My friend has a stihl and I’ll run circles around his slow heavy saw all day.
So refreshing to see a guy open carrying his side arm when using his chainsaw. We all do concealed carry in these parts.

I don't think it's for the snakes. Only time I ever conceal carried was when stranger drove all the way in and asked me if my land was for sale. It wasn't.
It’s a “chain not a blade” the chain rides on the bar....am from timber county, southwestern Oregon....
I'm from beaches of Hawaii, and I know the chain rides on the bar, and that Oregon Products makes the best chains and bars!
Not criticizing here, but for limbing a big tree like that you really need to have chaps, gloves, and steel toe boots on. Especially running solo. One trip over a limb could take a leg off if you accidentally squeeze the throttle while falling. Chaps saved a hospital ride for me one day. Also don’t forget to put the chain brake on when not cutting for a few moments. Your 455 is a nice saw. I love mine. It’s an animal of a saw. Your stihl would make a nice limbing saw. We have mostly Stihl saws but do have 1 Husky that had been left in a storage unit we also own. Both make great tools and you should see many years of service out of them.

Hey man does it really necessary for you to carry a gun while cutting a down tree with a chainsaw?? Are you expecting some trouble or it's just for a Show Off???
I really need help with breaking in properly my new 455, please any advice would be greatly appreciated. I followed the manual and taking it easy on the first 10 hours of use but still having chain and bar issues
Sorry, I don't have any feedback to help you. Mine has been trouble-free. See if you can find an independent Husky dealer who can help you. Best of luck!
Phil! Nice saw! I have that 257 Husky I need to retune but I deff like huskys so far. Seems well built! I run the same fuel (for now) cause its expensive but fuels seems to be good stuff! The more you use that thing the better it will run! I have a similar blow down in my woods thats not touching the ground and is perfectly seasoned I need to get before winter! This video just reminded me of it lol Nice work!
I've been mixing my own fuel for a while but got these cans with the saw so figured I use it. I use too much between saws, blower, and trimmer to continuously used the premix.
@@WoodsTreeFarm Yes I agree, I bought one gallon because I had a gift card lol but im gonna get non ethanol fuel from a airport locally in NH here and mix some of that juice! I agree though it would be WAY to much to support all our equipments drinking habits :)

I just bought my 455 hausqverna from Cal Ranch today. How does it hold up to Oak trees, if you have ever used the chainsaw in that particular wood?
I cut a lot of red and white oak and it has done well. Just keep a sharp chain on it, and it'll eat.
was that stihl chain sharpened?
I'm not a fan of Stihl but they all require a sharpened chain.
Can anyone help me decide between the Sthil 251CBE and the 455 Rancher? The Rancher is a $500 saw and 3 & 1/2hp and the 251CBE is 3hp and $387. Which would be a better saw as far as reliability and comfortable to work with. I know the Sthil weighs about 5pounds less than the Husky. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Buying to cut my own firewood is reason for purchase
I don't know anything about the 251, but specs vs. $ look good. Don't know why it wasn't on my radar when I was shopping. Good luck!

I like my 455, which I have had for several years. However, I am a Stihl man. I also have a ms -181cbe. I do like the weight and balance of the 455. Some advice. Always limb a tree before you buck it up. I also think your 181 was dull as crap. Mine will sure cut a lot faster than yours. Also, always clean and sharpen your saws after each use, so they are ready to go the next time you need them. I did not like the chain my 455 came with and replaced it with an Oregon LGX chain.
You're right. The Stihl was super dull and this was not a good demonstration or comparison of how the two cut.
Hey what type of fuel is in that container? What's the name on it?
I don't remember if this was trufuel or the Husqvarna premix but it was one of those. Any brand 50:1 mix will work fine or you can mix up your own.

Nice purchase and sounds like you got a good deal on it.The Husky did a good job slicing right through that tree. I have the STIHL 171 with the 16 inch bar. Been looking at the STIHL 271 with a 20" bar, just haven't got the finance committee approval yet. Also, it looks like you have a nice XD on your side there. Anytime I'm out at the farm, I have one my Glocks with me. Heading to the range this morning to do a little competition shooting and spend some fun goofing off. First Saturday in two months that I have taken just for me to have fun (person has to take a break once in a while).
Good eye. Yes, its an XD-40. Been thinking about carrying protection ever since we saw the bear on the trail cam! LOL. Have fun at the range!
Unless they’ve changed their policy, like other manufacturers, they come with a 'safety' chain. They are aimed at new users and with high rakers, cut very smoothly, but not very quickly. If you are used to a saw, there are much more aggressive chains out there that will improve performance a lot
yes I've had this for 2 years now and have changed the chain and it cuts better, but being a consumer saw its still somewhat slow.
@@WoodsTreeFarm it’s not super fast, but not bad - I live in an area where logging is the main business, I buy my chains from a place that looks after the loggers. They don’t come in a packet, they buy bulk chain and make up individual chains at the store as needed. It’s a little more expensive, but there’s a huge difference in performance
First time chainsaw owner. Should there be a break in period for a new saw or can I take it to town right out of the box? I just ordered this saw, it should be here next Thursday.
Ya know, I'm not sure. I don't think so. Saws are suppose to be run wide open. I think you just fuel it up and let it rip. Check your manual though.
The Shihl needs a chain, it was making dust instead of chips. 455 is a nice mid sized saw.

The 455 is a really good saw. Can take bars up to 25" I think so it's versatile. I bought one eight years ago after a winter storm blew eight large trees down on our property. Use my Stihl MS210C for limbing and medium trees and I use the Husky 455 for felling and bucker bigger wood. Really good to have a smaller saw and bigger saw. I don't like using the Rancher for limbing since I have a smaller and lighter saw.
The good choice is the Husq 450, IMO. As light as your Stihl and almost as powerful as your 455. The perfect all-around chainsaw.
What kind of oil are you using?
Stihl bar and chain oil

Wow! We just got back from a trip to AUS. I found it strange how some things were considerably more expensive and others were less or about the same as in the US. The conversion rate was favorable for us. $1200 sounds like a lot for this saw. I'd think you should be able to get some good pro level saws at that price.
Pro level saws are way more. $1800 to 2400...
Damn for 1200 you can get an ms462 with a 28 inch bar in the us

I WAS going to call you out on the test against your obviously dull Stihl, but then I saw the side-arm...tee hee. What size bar on that? Pretty sure I'm going to get one. I have tons of wood I need to process up at my cottage in Michigan.
its a 20 inch bar. Others have said these saws run better with 18", but I haven't tried it yet
Hi Phil when I had my place I had a Stihl Farm Boss, I still have it and I think it's about 18 years old.I cut tons and tons of trees without one bit of trouble.

Good chainsaw. A shop in the town close to my farm sells Husqvarna equipment. Husqvarna equipment is pretty keenly priced.
We are probably going down the electric route so I’ll chat to the shop and see what sort of deal they can do. I don’t have to chop down or up big trees so a battery powered saw with a 400mm bar should be fine.
I've seen some good reviews for a few of the electric saws - the stihl one in particular. I would definitely consider one as replacement for my smaller saw when that time comes. Thanks for watching!

Uh oh. Mine was running real rough the other week. I put fresh fuel in it and cleaned the air filter and now it runs perfect. Hope you can get it figured out.

It actually cuts pretty well when its sharp. It was pathetically dull here and I didn't realize it before I started the job.

The saw should be on the ground with one foot inside the handle when starting. Drop starting is a no-no.
I can't help wondering why these chainsaws are so cheaper in the US than in Europe ! The retail price is 649 € in France ! (780 $ !!)
The 455 is a nice saw, BTW, but I prefer the 450 which is almost as powerful but more than 1 kg lighter.

I've been curious and checked Husq website. I can't really complain about the price 649€/780$ in France because
if it's "only" 599€/720$ in Spain, it's
- 680€/817$ in Greece
- 719€/864$ in Belgium
- 743€/893$ in Italy !!
No price in Finland, Sweden, the Netherlands, Germany, the 455 is not sold there.

8:00 Kindly make sure that you don't disrespect the new toy as you've done the Stihl. The poor little beggar was grinding its guts out trying to cut through that log because somebody had not taken the time to set and to sharpen it. I cut Jarrah which is close to some of the hardest wood on the planet and if I did the same to any saw, the same as on that log, it would have come out smoking and spitting sparks off the bar and with the chain lube bubbling in its tank. I'm researching my next saw, is what I'm doing here but seeing that upset me.
haha. This video was YEARS ago. I've abused both of these and my other newer saws plenty since then. I've also learned how to tell when the chains are dull and to not let them get as bad as the stihl in this video. Thanks for watching. take care
