I have watched this twice now over the years and I think that the best part is the bird's singing on day one. No offense but I enjoyed it as they're not around here now. Nice bird too.
News flash, Weekend Warrior BBQ drowns viewer in his own saliva with outstanding recipe! Just did a spatchcock turkey and the temp stalled at about 155 F. I had to ramp the temp on the Traeger from 275 to 325. Then it finished in 30 minutes. Nice job!
Once again super excited for using this recipe! Thanks Mike for the step by steps. Love the new content too!! I would love to see how you made your turkey gravy sometime. As always Go Browns, Go Bucks and Go Cavs!!!
Outstanding yard! Beautiful. I am buying a Yoder YS 640 in April 25. Great Video I am getting Brining Bucket you're the only one I seen use them. Sausage Stuffing is the best mine is with hand made Corn bread. God's Blessings 🙏

I bought the Kosmos Brine Kit and it was my first time to smoke a turkey. I watched both of your turkey videos and did just what you said and holy cow the turkey was perfect and everyone loved it! Thanks for the help!
I'm a weekend warrior myself. I love the whole menu. I'm going to try your brine. The color looked great for smoking. Thank you sir. I'll let you know how it turns out.
Mike your recipe and techniques are a GO at this station! Best turkey ever. My family looooooved it! And the Pecan rub was da’bomb! Thanks a lot! I had a lot of fun smoking my turkey with all your steps.
Thanks Mike . I did everything you said to do on the video. The Turkey turned out awesome. I had Family eating Turkey that didn't really like turkey . Thanks Again and Have a Good Thanksgiving. PT
Followed your tips and tricks and had the best turkey that I could ever remember!!! Thank you! Wish I could add a picture it turned out great! Pit boss vertical smoker from Lowes.
Thank you, Luis! I am really laser focused right now on putting out content for the community that inspires creativity. Thank you for clicking on my videos! I really appreciate the support 😁
@@WeekendWarriorBBQ absolutely Mike! And I love the way you focus your culinary ideas. I have vast culinary experience and you are on target! Now I’ll tell you it will be nice to put out menus that can also showcase recipes low on sodium. I saw the contents of the Kosmos Q’s brine and lol I can’t do that much sodium. People with high BP like me must maintain a strict level of sodium intake - but don’t get me wrong the turkey looked amazing with K-Q once you cut it - easy to see thru that. But I would love to have a low sodium version - oh yes! Lol!!!! Thanks for the hook info - I got me one on order already ha! Can’t wait to put that bird on my Pit Boss Pro!
I made the turkey on Halloween and it was the best turkey I have ever had. First time smoking one and it was amazing. Cooked the stuffing also and it turned out amazing. Definitely learning a lot form your channel!
I did my turkey on a grill last year doing it this year too! I like how yours came out the spachtcock u did was a good idea I might do that this year ! Thank u!
Smoked my 19 lb turkey just like this with pan under Meath for drippings was the best turkey even better than frying and the dripping were like heaven almost put the gravy on my pie was the best turkey ice and all my guests have ever had everyone took home leftovers
Smokey Joe I found out that butter under the skin helps crisp the skin after bringing because brine melts fat so the butter replenishes the fat Pit master tip, but I’m definitely smoking my turkeys this year 👍🏾 and the crab raisins gotta try that like always your videos inspires me to cook I love that brother THANK YOU 😋😋😋
Mike, love your Pit boss smoker videos. I was planning to smoke a Turkey breast in my Pit boss vertical yesterday. After watching your video earlier this week, I ordered the Turkey hangers from Amazon. My Turkey breast on the hanger yesterday was out outstanding. Thanks for the smoker tips.
I love this video! You have influenced our entire way of doing things this year! Just made the stock for our stuffing and getting ready to smoke our bread tonight. Never had smoked turkey before! Looking forward to tomorrow like never before. Happy Thanksgiving and thank you so much!
Holy cow! Or holy Turkey Batman! That was an amazing video. I watched this at halftime and yes didn't turn back to the game either. Great video and we'll in depth. 👍👍
Great timing Mike! I'm putting together a list of gadgets to get right now. Gotta include those hangers. I'm gonna follow your lead and try it like this. Seems like a better method particularly rotating the bird for even browning.
Turkey is just Turkey (unless overcooked and dry).... BUT. Thanksgiving Stuffing is the ART of the Thanksgiving meal! The Stuffing can Make or Break a really great Thanksgiving meal. Yours looked PERFECT!. (nice move with the Cranraisins) Well Done!
Thanks for taking the time and sharing this cook. I have never seen a turkey hung in a pellet grill, excellent idea. Going to use your stuffing recipe in a few days. Keep up the great work.
Thank you. You will definitely enjoy the brine and the bucket is awesome... they send you a smaller one too for brining chicken wings and that kind of stuff too
You are a master...I love the Turkey gobble at key moments...I would also inject with melted butter, pure maple syrup and chipotle into the breast and legs prior to smoke. Well done!
Wow! The was the first time I made a turkey using this method and it came out incredible. I don't think hanging the turkey made a any difference. Thank you for the the great recipe.
Mike, thank you again for this amazing recipe! I've followed this for my past several turkeys and I now have the honor of smoking the birds for both Thanksgiving and Christmas for my inlaws dinners. Love all the content and how easy it is to covert to my pellet smoker no matter how you are doing it! Hope you and yours have a fantastic Thanksgiving and Go Browns!!
You're welcome! You have a fantastic Thanksgiving as well. I was hoping to play the Bills in 6 feet of snow and give the ball to Chubb every play but it didn't work out... off to Detroit now lol
I smoked a 15lb turkey in a Series 4 and it took 7 hours at 275 degrees to get that bird done to look like yours. Results will very depending on the size of the turkey and smoker used.
Great video, I might try this! Quick question - does the mayo layer prevent the smoke from penetrating the meat? And, does the hook reduce the cook time or just make for a more even cook?
Just got an original Oklahoma joes offset (tank) smoker for $150.00 (steal), and our family is not meeting for thanksgiving due to COVID but I’m am glad I ran into this video cuz man your gonna helpe so much man I don’t know what to say....using the giblets for stock and gravy... thank you!
Wow, that Heath Riles Pecan Rub is REALLY good. I have 2 other choices here I could use. This one is definitely the winner. Cant wait to try on the turkey.
We had Christmas in July this past weekend. While i couldn't hang the turkey in the upper cabinet of my Lockhart, it otherwise turned out great! My mother in law loved the stuffing!! I also did a double smoked ham and a roast from your videos!! Thanks for all the tips!!
Hi, Frank. If you were to follow all of the steps and lay it flat on the rack it will taste exactly the same. Hanging it will help it cook more evenly and allow more of the skin to crisp up. If you can’t hang it, don’t worry about it.
Back again for my yearly viewing to remind myself how to smoke this bird! Last time I did it it came out amazing! I used maple pellets along with the herb brine from fire and flavor, and the mayo and pecan rub. It was the first time I actually really enjoyed turkey. My wife and I are just more “meh, it’s turkey” kind of people but it was the first time my wife ever said she really enjoyed turkey (same with me)! Are you smoking the bird again this year?
I spatchcock my Turkey's and chickens brown the meat and make the stock from the removed back bone. some veggies and and 30 minutes in a pressure cooker. Pressure cooking it extracts more flavor from the meat bones and veggies. It also saves energy since pressure cooking is much faster.
Just tried this, didn't hang it. Used a rib rack to hold it up. Changed up the sourdough bread for garlic bread. Turkey suntan lotion was pound of butter, 4 garlic gloves, ¼ cup Parmesan cheese, and mayo. Was great. Didn't have rain, but is is 16° F in my part of the world. Pitboss 7 performed very well
Hi, Chris. Those videos don’t get many views but I can tell you I do a good cleaning every 10 cooks. I vacuum out the ashes before every cook. My favorite cleaner is the “Oven, Grill & Fryer Cleaner” from Sams Club. It is also available on Amazon.
Thank you, Andrew. The most important thing is to have fun and learn as you go. If you haven’t seen it already you will enjoy this 5 Mistakes video I put out about a year ago. th-cam.com/video/hg62RUHKlkA/w-d-xo.html
Great video! I have cooked turkey different ways. The two best ways are brine then spatchcocked or even better debone the entire turkey then stuff it and tie it up. I deboned a 24 pound turkey stuffed it with bacon and par cooked potatoes and brushed it down with bacon fat and butter every 30 minutes at 350 on my Weber Kettle. The 24 pound bird was 165 on the dark meat after 1 hour 45 minutes. No bones the turkey roasts very fast. Try deboning your bird, your guests will be impressed.
I always get a laugh out of this one. Growing up, my family always called it stuffing and they never cooked it in the bird. Dressing was what we put on salads... like ranch dressing 🤣🤣🤣. Thanks for watching

Love the vids man. Have used a ton of them with great success. Will be trying this in this year and can’t wait. Thx for all.

Welcome back, Matthew! We are not doing a turkey this year. We're actually just going to make some homemade pizza :)

Pressure cooking it extracts more flavor from the meat bones and veggies.

I have deboned a few turkeys and rolled them up with my sausage stuffing. It is a show stopper for sure.
Great video.
She’s a beut Clark 😂👍🏻
I’m from the south and call that dressing...Stuffing goes inside a Turkey...Looks delicious 👍🏻
I always get a laugh out of this one. Growing up, my family always called it stuffing and they never cooked it in the bird. Dressing was what we put on salads... like ranch dressing 🤣🤣🤣. Thanks for watching
Either way looks delicious
Great video thanks!
That looks good. My boys can't cook worth shucks, they tried to make a hoot owl pie, perfectly good hoot owl wasted
What is your aprox time per pound at 275? I may have missed it. Look forward to it!
I'm gonna try this in our smoker using Cornish game hens too!
I like that idea! Those Cornish game hens are awesome
Great job that looked awesome!!!
