Nice video! One comment on veiled chameleons, in many cases a hybrid enclosure is better than a screen enclosure. A hybrid enclosure has solid sides allowing for the humidity to remain higher but still allows for ample air flow. Most homes are way too dry for full screens due to heating and air conditioning. Bill is definitely a must watch and subscribe for a chameleon keeper.

As a petstore manager, and reptile hobbyist, I tell my team to mark these care guides up! Cross out what’s old and add what’s needed. At least until corporate can catch up. Which hopefully is soon! It’s always a catch 22 with people. Wanting these animals to be set up for success but also not wanting them sold at all 😢

  • @oscarflores6717

Hopefully they update the bad ones. I’ve been seeing improvements at the petsmart and petco shops I go to recently. Even the animals look a lot better. I just wish they’d get rid of the reptile carpet. I think as long as the community continues to grow and people are better educated about reptile care there’s a chance that big chain stores can finally keep their animals in at least livable conditions.

It would be amazing if you did a video on how wrong the enclosures in pet stores are, like either go to your local pet store or have subscribers send you some photos and take a look at how good or bad they are. I think this would be also amazing for ppl who can’t go to an expo/don’t have any breeders in their area and can only go to pet stores so they can spot real bad care right in the pet store. (Some pet stores keep even rodents in bad conditions, let alone reptiles)

I work at PetSmart in the pet care department and I never give people care guides even though we're supposed to. They have some good basic info but nothing you couldn't get in more detail online. Things are better than in the past when PetSmart sold iguanas, but there are still things like fishbowls (literally all fish should be in proper tanks) that I always steer people away from. And unfortunately bearded dragons have a high mortality rate due to being shipped here almost right after hatching.

  • @tinahaynes175

Yes, more roasts! PetSmart, Petco, PetSen$e (by Tractor Supply) roast them all! Especially PetSenSe, they still have their beardies set up with red lights at night. Also, the basking & UVB lights are on different sides of the tank because they're using a coil UVB light!! I used to slide the UVB light over to the basking area when nobody was looking whenever I went in lol.

I would love to see more, I really enjoy this series, not because of the usually lack of proper care advice on the Petsmart care guides, but because it goes to show just how much Petsmart, the biggest pet store retail in all of the United States and Canada potentially (Petco included), just how little they really know about what they’re selling.
I pains me just to think about all the people, whether a parent of young children or anyone who actually takes everything they say as truth, and trust that they are correct, end up with an unhealthy reptile with subpar and unacceptable living conditions. This series really brings that to light, and honestly no hate on these pet stores, but they should at least know the basics of these care guides, and be PROPERLY educated, before giving incorrect advice about these animals to unbeknownst people who trust them. And I am quite surprised how accurate the Cuban False Chameleon care guide was. These have so much potential, to help others know the truth about the care these reptiles, but all it takes is proper research, and proper information, so that these creatures have an excellent life, as well the their owners who know better and care for them with correct information.

PetSmart has always been a place that is very hands on Cats and Dogs first type of place. I’ll never understand why reptiles are being sold here. For corporate greed? Probably. But the point is PetSmart has absolutely no idea what they are doing with reptiles and amphibians when it comes to care. They are always housed incorrectly, fed incorrectly, incorrect temperatures, handled incorrectly, incorrect supplies, I could go on and on. If you want actual proper care for your reptile, go to your local reptile stores. If you don’t have those kind of stores, then look for the proper things to order online off of Amazon or other sites.

    1) Do you take all the soil out from the plants? so there isn’t any perlite or anything? or no? will that hurt the gecko if you don’t remove them all? and do you bury the roots within the substrate?
    2) i was looking at isopods and saw isopod food and isopod substrate (specifically on Reptilian Arts website), do they need a specific food? will a mix of cocofiber and a little reptile moss (with leaves and other things added on top) work for substrate or do we need to add that isopod substrate?

You did ent talk about it saying 3 foot tall is big enough and they did ent say it should be 2 by 2 by 4 feet tall and it used a wall mounted thermometer and hygrometer which toy should use the gun type ones and I saw a couple other mistakes

Just curious how old is Diamond now? My beardie, Kittie is 13 or 14 and he is slowing down. Getting grumpy not at me but at his baths and in general not being held he merely goes black beard on me. His bath is his best poop time now due to not wanting to drink water that’s in his terrarium. He hates baths but loves them. Natural sunlight still brings out his bright orange. Any way he is acting like an old man. At 13 to 14 years

This is random, but i can appreciate ypur videos. Been subbed for a few mot.hs bc i use to have a few reptiles throughout my teen years, im 29 now so its been a long time since ibe had any. Being 100% honest, i definitely did not care for them as i should have bc i just didnt know and the internet was alot different in late 2000s. I had a chinese water dragon my mothwr gor me and it did live dor about 2 hears but man do i feel horrible since seeing your videos of reptile care bc i know i screwed it.up but eberyone makes mistakes and learns from them. Ive been thinking about picking something up and getting a nice swtup as its alot easier ro get care instructions now a days thst are actually right but at rhe same time, i just dont want something bad ro happen.

3ft tall enclosure seems small for a veiled, you might be able to get away with it for a female panther chameleon, but veileds are larger than panthers and 4ft tall by 2 ft deep and wide seems to be the bare minimum. Larger is always better!

Can you touch more on the issues with petco? I had not heard all the stuff about them till I watched one of your latest videos and really want to know more because I have several animals from there and I don’t want to help out a place that does cruel things to their animals

@@strangepetscmty well I stopped going there because they wanna charge 10 cents a plastic bag and sorry but you ain’t gonna get away with that sh$t in Tennessee, maybe California but not here. So I boycotted them but I’m still paying for their dumbass membership program. Oh yeah and my snake I got there had mites and spread them to my other. That was a fiasco! But I will say the snake I got there is bad ass but not because of any of their doing of course

I feel like reptile carpet is the worst or one of the worst reptile products ever created. I feel like people who use it don't wanna do proper research before buying an animal and then act like Karen's when they are told they have a bad setup because they listened to the person at the pet store thinking they know everything. It also looks really cheap and tacky especially when it's covered in cricket legs and white calcium powder
