This actually broke my heart how they treated this man. Imagine going to another country and being treated differently based off your appearance.
They did what they should've done based off the call. The girls sounded frantic and at his time isis was a big issue. I commend them for actually calling it off after they figured out it was a lie and nothing prejudice to still lock him up bc that's what you expect if other cops normally. I don't agree with them breaking his stuff but they did what they had to do they weren't overly violent like most officers, and they did the right thing by letting him go. Some of the officers were being rude but the main officer seemed to be doing it all professionally just like the narrator said.

They might still have been able to detain him until someone from the State Department or something arrived. But unless those cops personally witnessed him actively trying to murder people or something, shouldn't that have been where their authority ended? I've pointed this out on other forums as well. I live in rural KY and the ignorance to different cultures is widespread here. Good people but have been brainwashed by media thinking all Muslims are bad. the key here is that in the language of the law you have to prove that the sister 100% knew the claim she made to 911 was false. Whilst the actions are motivated by racial bias, in this particular instance her actions did not rise to the standard of a false alarm which means it was not a crime. ( i agree that this is not fair and that there is obviously improvements to be made to the text in order to avoid these situations from happening again)

Based on the 911 call alone you can tell that the caller is being discriminatory. While the officers do have to perform due diligence, they should have recognized the stigmas for persons in that dress at the time, and realized the discriminatory nature of the call

So they found out later the receptionist had lied to officers and had sent a text claiming he was part of ISIS.
So why is she not prosecuted.
What the receptionist and her sister did was completely wrong but i think the receptionist told her sister that “she was scared because of all the ISIS stuff on the news” and her sister interpreted that as the gentleman is a part of ISIS, the receptionist didn’t call the police because she didn’t think she was in danger, her sister did.

The one officer that threw his phone is a pos. The lead officer that immediately called off the search should get an A+. Some of the cops are worse than felons, and some are amazing people

In the UK the police assassinated a completely innocent Brazilian guy in the London Underground on the assumption he had a bomb because he lived in a block of apartments where a previous suspect may have also lived at some time. In this case they had no knowledge there was any risk. They only had a third party report and they made no attempt to check the veracity of the report
